“Close to city centre”
Hotel in good situation as 10 minute walk to waterfront or 4 min walk into city shopping area. Breakfast ok, free internet a plus. Rooms and bathroom probably need some refurbishment. Upon arrival for the second night there was no room available because of over booking. The hotel paid for a taxi to take us to a hotel near the train station which was too far from town.
“Perfect place to stay for the weekend.”
My partner and I have just returned from a long weekend in Bergen during which we stayed at the Augustin. The place was lovely and clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the view from the window looked out over the harbour to the old castle. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, advising us on places to go and providing us with genuinely great wine at the bar. The breakfast that was included was good, tasty, basic fare. I believe the Augustin is one of few family run hotels in the area so we were glad to have given it our patronage- for three stars we were made very comfortable.
“Superb smiling staff.”
The location of a hotel, the comfort of the bed, the noise levels, the size of the rooms, the quality of the food and so on... these things all matter and were perfectly satisfactory in the case of the Augustin - but the staff were exceptional. From the moment we arrived EVERYONE smiled and made an effort to provide good service, even house-keepers who we bumped into once as they came to clean the rooms. Would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again or recommend it to friends. Were given a choice of rooms and picked 522 on the top floor, on the corner of the building so bigger than most. Good decision - except the heating seemed a little reluctant to work. Summary: Good hotel - excellent staff.
“Good location and value”
See above. That is where I wrote my review.
“Good, Clean Room, Good Breakfast Selection”
Hotel was fairly central and clean. Breakfast buffet had a very good selection and seemed to appeal to a lot of different demographics. Staff were friendly and efficient and provided practical information when asked. All in all was a good experience. Room was on the smaller side but quite typical of european hotels.
“Beautiful, historic room overlooking the water”
Great staff, great room, great breakfast
“"Close to everything in Bergen"”
We loved the Augustin Hotel. The modern rooms are like suites with sitting area & very comfortable beds. The buffet breakfast was great & in the afternoon they provided make it yourself waffles with tea or coffee - yummy! The hotel is within walking distance of the train station & close to shops & the wharf. Very kind & helpful staff!
“relaxing stay”
well situated for the town centre and the harbour and also giving you peace and quiet in the evening
“Great quality and value?”
Very happy with our stay. My only small thing I would change is the two small beds they put together to make a double. It makes it difficult to cuddle!!! I think this is pretty standard for Europe. Very helpful staff.
“Friendly, comfortable hotel in a great location”
The first thing that striked you when you enter the lobby of the Augustin Hotel is the friendly hotel employees. They go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. The location of the hotel is fantastic, within walking distance of the Bryggen, fish market and Central Bergen. The only slight negative is the quality of the breakfast. I think the hotel could do a better job of replenishing the breakfast items as they are consumed. Breakfast was OK but not great.
