“Clean, convenient for rail links”

Convenient location opposite rail station. Bus 1 goes to citta alta and also in the other direction to the airport. Can walk to citta alta funicular in about 20 mins. Clean rooms and reasonable breakfast. However neighbourhood is very noisy- overlooks traffic interchange. Overall had a great time.

“Excellent location; excellent value.”

Ideally situated near to the station and to buses for the airport and the upper city, the hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard. The room was spacious, comfortable, well appointed and spotlessly clean. A very good breakfast was provided. Rates were very economical.

The upper city is very interesting and well worth a visit.

“Very convenient”

This hotel is ideally situated not far from train station and convenient bus stop. Rooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard. Ensuite bathroom was excellent. Continental breakfast was adequate. Only little problem we had was with the TV where only Italian programmes were visible, others either had no signal or were scrambled. But then I have to ask myself how many Italian TV programmes are visible in UK, so really not a problem. Location is really good for getting bus to Upper town and trains.

Area recommendations

Bergamo old town is definately worth a one day visit. Visit the cathedral and natural history museum as well as a wander through the narrow streets.

“A lovely local Bergamo hotel”

a great hotel to stay in during your quick visit to bergamo. Highly recommended for a few nights.

Area recommendations

The Upper/old city/town via the furnicular railway. An old medival romantic town. I'd highly recommend the cafe in the furnicular railway station at the top of citta alta. Great views at night time and the food overall is amazing italian high standards.

“Very convenient if you want to tour around by public transport.”

The hotel served our purpose admirably as we were keen to visit Lakes Iseo, Como and Lugano and the train and bus stations were 200 yards away from the hotel. The hotel was undergoing some building work but we were out all day and we were not disturbed. It is probably best described as a commercial hotel, rather than one where one sits to watch the world go by! It is also within easy reach of some excellent restaurants and local buses for the old part of the city are frequently available.

Travelled by plane to Bergamo and by bus from the airport to the local bus station.

Must see

Visit the old city by funicolare and go to The Caffe del Tasso of Garibaldi fame. Visit the Duomo andPiazza Vecchia

Dining

In the old City was Al Donizetti and the Cafe Funicolare has a wonderful view. In the City bassa, is La Bruschetta in a basement and La Ciotola is also good.

“Good value for money”

A handy location directly opposite the train and bus station this hotel is perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. If I were able to spend more time in the lovely town of Bergamo I would probably go for a better class hotel. However for the price it's fine

“Hotel Piemontese - Bergame”

L'hôtel, situé en face de l'office de tourisme et tout près de la gare, est relié par un autobus fréquent à la ville haute où se trouvent les principaux sites d'intérêt touristique. Ma chambre, donnant sur l'arrière, était très calme

Area recommendations

Il faut absolument visiter la ville haute et prendre le temps d'y flâner. Monter au-dessus, au village de San Vigilio (funiculaire) offre une vue étendue. La ville basse présente moins d'intérêt mais il y a quand même quelques monuments à voir pour ceux qui en ont le temps.

“Assolutamente da evitare”

All'arrivo in camera non era presente acqua nè calda nè fredda. Scesi a chiedere la ragione ci è stato detto che si stavano eseguendo dei lavori sull'impianto idraulico (dirlo prima almeno?). Tra l'altro ci è stato detto che quella fredda sarebbe tornata in 10 minuti. Dopo mezzora di vana attesa abbiamo deciso di iniziare la visita della città, per non perdere tutto il tempo dentro un hotel ad aspettare all'infinito lo sgorgare del prezioso elemento. La sera finalmente l'acqua era tornata ma oramai il disagio era stato ampiamente creato. Per il resto la camera era pulita ma in stato originale, rubinetti vecchi e malfunzionanti (specie quello della doccia). Non brilla neanche per la colazione, poco varia e croissant questi sconosciuti! Sicuramente uno dei peggiori hotel in cui sia mai stato (e non sono un viaggiatore da 4 stelle). Sconsiglio vivamente.

“Posizione eccezionale”

Ottimo Hotel, anche per famiglie. Posizione centralissima a 2 passi dalla stazione e da autobus per aereoporto e per stazione della funicolare.
