Rocha Brava enabled us to have the freedom of an independent holiday with the convenience of facilities of a hotel or complex. The villa was well equipped, clean and with a private back garden. It felt as though we were just in a small village with the great amenities of the tennis courts, gym, pool, coffee shop, supermarket and restaurant.
Ana in reception was very helpful, friendly and efficient when she organised a day trip for us and also arranged for a broken interior door handle to be fixed.
Wifi at the pool bar is free and easy accessible but the resort wide wifi reception around the resort is sporadic.
The suites were very large and comfortable. All rooms were air-conditioned (separately) and there was also a small outside patio with table/ chairs and a couple of sun loungers just beyond that. The main seawater pool was exceptional, although a little on the cold side - we didn't try the smaller fresh water pool or inside pool.
The breakfast buffet was fine - at the expected level. The evening meals were very good, although limited menu and a bit pricy.
There were a couple of weddings held while we were there but there was no noise or disruption to us at all.
Had a lovely stay sat the Pestana Palm Gardens. A range of different sized properties set in stunning gardens. Beautifully maintained pool area. Great restaurant & fantastic , friendly & helpful staff across the board!!! 20 minute walk into town - steep hill on the way back. We stayed in a very well equipped studio - exceptional maid service. Tiny but functional bathroom. Would suggest a bell at pool bar if left un-manned & shame there isn't a shop on site but other than that perfect & so peaceful! Would highly recommend for couples & families & very much hope to return!!
We had a comfortable stay at this hotel. We included breakfast which gave everyone a vast choice of cooked and continental, worth including is have healthy appetite.
Recommend if you hire a car for duration of trip do this in advance as cheaper, if only for a few days, use local service as not worth the time, cost and effort returing the car to the airport.
I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights as a single traveller. The room was lovely, the decor was contemporary and the king size bed was great. The pool and grounds were beautiful, well maintained and perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sun. There was only a small number of children staying at the hotel and that for me was also a bonus as it meant a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere. The spa was fantastic, I had a great facial and massage and used the sauna, jacuzzi and steam room everyday. The only small disappointment for me was the food, the buffet breakfast was good although wasn't really restocked so if you arrived later the choice was limited, the food at the pool bar was nice but the evening buffet was disappointing and over priced. This was just a small disappointment in an otherwise really enjoyable stay and I'd definitely go back again. Highly recommended.
It was a little dated, nice enough for a budget holiday. Pools were very cold even children's pool was not suitable for a child under 4.
Not very good for 'self catering' but okay if you do not plan on using the kitchen.
You need a car as it was 10minute DRIVE to the local beach (not the nicest roads to be walking along)

Stayed for 1 week mid September 2014- ages 66, 35, 33 and 1 year old. Firstly the apartments- huge! You can tell they are built to be residential originally as they are really spacious with a fully equiped kitchen, utility room, living area and 3 bedrooms. Great pool area with baby pool and full size pool. Plenty of sun beds, never a problem getting one. However no bar, restaurant on site so you have to bring your own down from the room if you want drinks. Assume this is due to it being in a residential area. Spotless clean, really modern, aircon not the greatest but we didn't complain as it wasn't really needed whilst we were there. Towels/ sheets changed once a week and apartment cleaned.
Location- 15 minute walk into town- brings you out right on Main Street where shops, bars and restaurants are. Not a flat walk however and so if you're not great on the mobility front, best get a taxi (<€5). We always walked into town and got cab back. In a residential area so no shops etc around the complex. Nearest shop 10 minute walk. Restaurant next door to the shop which is definatly worth a visit.
Overall I'd definatly stay again but you need to be willing to walk or drive / taxi into town.
