“Belper- Lion Hotel”

We booked a late weekend break and stayed in the Lion Hotel, Belper. The room was functional and clean but don't expect anything too spectacular. The staff at the hotel are really friendly, polite and helpful. The bar and food are also really good. Don't expect too much from Belper itself, but it is a good place to explore the surrounding area such as Matlock, Bakewell and Ashbourne.

“Handy hotel in central location”

Well positioned hotel in middle of town, but car park could be hard to find for some as it is at the rear with no indication of how to get to it. Staff were all very pleasant, service was good except for a fairly long wait at the bar, and breakfast was good but also fairly slow to arrive. Room was clean and comfortable, the only fault being the shower which was hard to regulate and the shower head would not remain in chosen poosition. All in all a good value comfortable stay.

“Good for one night but not more”

Rooms are extremely basic and the cleanliness was questionable. We only stayed here for one night for a wedding taking place down the road at Makeney Hall, so didn't spend much time in the room but if we were staying for longer we would perhaps stay else where.

“Another let down”

As usual another just about done enough hotel. Broken shower, one towel, one chair in the corner of the room to sit on, single beds pushed together. It would take such a small amount of money to make this place right. Damp mould in the bathroom, next door to a petrol station which was noisy. The staff were very friendly which makes it more of a shame. Spend some money and fix the rooms.
