It is a nice clean Brazilian version of the Super 8 Hotels. The staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The continental breakfast was fresh and excellent. The adjoining rooms were very convenient.
There are no restaurants or stores nearby but there are some food items for sale inside the hotel. The challenge is that the goods were greatly overpriced.

Great hotel. They do classical/period colonial-era furnishing and decor wonderfully, without seeming quaint or haphazardly thrown together, with modern touches that blend in well (like a fantastic jacuzzi tub in their suites). The staff speaks limited English, but that really wasn't much of a problem. We were able to check-in, get our car parked, order room service, etc. without too much sign-language. The location is perfect, right next to a beautiful church, and a short (5-10 min) walk to the center of town and Tiradentes Square along a very pleasant street situated on a ridge with commanding views of the town. I would not hesitate to stay here again; Ouro Preto is a fantastic destination and this is probably the nicest hotel there.
Stayed for 2 nights over the World Cup period, so the hotel was very busy. Even with an increase in voume the reception staff were very helpful at check in, taking the time to explain loaction and places of interest on the local map.
Buffet breakfast was 5 star, with a large selection to choose from.
Rooms were clean and spacious with a great view of the street and surrounding buildings

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for the World Cup and it was a good choice. The hotels was completely sold out (obviously) but we didnt see any degradation in the level of service. Rooms are decent and clean, certainly not fancy by any means but just fine. Nice, queen bed, good sheets, pillows. Decent choices available at the mini-bar. A little noisy outside at night but not a surprise based on the events going on.
Check in/check out was painless and we didnt have any huge lines. Breakfast was included and was a decent sit down with hot and cold choices. Lobby was fine and they had a bar for drinks at night.
The neighborhood was nice in general, with some coffee shops, restaurants nearby. We walked around and felt perfectly safe.
I arrived at the hotel very early in the morning following an overnight bus trip from Rio. I only wanted to drop my bag, but they were able to check me in, even though it was barely 7 a.m. That was very much appreciated. The three members of the front desk staff I dealt with during my stay spoke perfect English--a rarity in Brazil. Everyone was helpful and friendly. My room was attractive, modern, and clean. Breakfast was ample. WiFi signal was strong. The hotel is located near a major shopping center in a nice part of town, only a 25 minute walk from the bus station. Overall, a very comfortable, pleasant stay.
This hotel is well situated. For those travelers who like to explore beyond the beach, this hotel sits right accross the subway station! Perhaps a bit overprice -as we visited right when the rio's carnival was at full swing- the room, the hotel, the staff and the additional perks did the trick fornus (additional perks included breakfast and free wifi access). Thisn hotel is a keeper.
