Good hotel in Belo in a nice neighborhood

Posted 23-Jun-2014
Pros: Good service, nice neighborhood
Cons: Hotel itself feels a touch old.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for the World Cup and it was a good choice. The hotels was completely sold out (obviously) but we didnt see any degradation in the level of service. Rooms are decent and clean, certainly not fancy by any means but just fine. Nice, queen bed, good sheets, pillows. Decent choices available at the mini-bar. A little noisy outside at night but not a surprise based on the events going on. Check in/check out was painless and we didnt have any huge lines. Breakfast was included and was a decent sit down with hot and cold choices. Lobby was fine and they had a bar for drinks at night. The neighborhood was nice in general, with some coffee shops, restaurants nearby. We walked around and felt perfectly safe.

Great stay, but......

Posted 19-May-2014
I cannot speak highly enough of the hotel, BUT the room service left my door open on one of the days and luckily none of my things were stolen, inc. my passport and cash. This was the only negative for me but could have been very bad as I would have been stuck in Brazil for the foreseeable future. This is NOT good for International travellers and therefore is something the hotel needs to look into. ALL your doors need to shut automatically as you are paid more than ANY hotel is paid in Belo!!! Other than this my experience was good and I would recommend the Clarion, provided they could confirm the door issues are all fixed. - Habib

in a great part of town

My husband and I stayed at the Clarion for one night on our way out of Minas Gerais. It was an excellent alternative to a hostel and the location made all the difference. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself is in need of updating.

Insight into Brazils affluence

Posted 28-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
Varied levels of English spoken at reception. Excellent breakfast. Good option to change most movies to English in the room. Very unusual in Brazil. Walkable to savassi and Lourdes. Felt safe walking around even at night. Good gym. Small pool but as expected in city centre hotel.

Very comfortable hotel with friendly staff

The room was very comfortable, although there is a little street noise audible. The AC is a little loud, but effective, and I had no trouble sleeping. The staff are pleasant and you get a free Caipirinha at the hotel bar.The immediate area around the hotel is a little run down and with few restaurants, however the Diamond Mall shopping center is close by, and Savissa where great restaurants and nightlife is to be found, is a short taxi ride away. This hotel is a 10 minute walk to the Conexcao Aeroporto bus station, which is perfect for getting the bus to and from the airport for BRL 20.

Nice & Safe Lourdes!

Pros: Location, staff, free services
Cons: Services used were impeccable and staff was excellent. Nothing to add from this trip.
Location: Restaurants, nightlife, shopping, etc. are all walking distances and you are in one of the nicest and safest neighborhood of Belo Horizonte.
Had a great 3-day stay during my 30 days traveling throughout Brazil. Hotel staff was pleasant, spoke English, great "free" valet parking, free WiFi and breakfast. Hotel was on a hill, but was a pleasant walk to Diamond Mall and many restaurants. Will always stay there when in Belo Horizonte.
