Within easy walking distance of the funicular to San Cristobal hill and La Chascona Casa Museo Santiago, the home the famous poet Pablo Neruda built for his mistress Mathilde, this hotel is definitely worth considering as your Santiago base. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. The bathroom was well appointed, with a fantastic hot, powerful shower, a must on my room list. The lack of elevator was not a problem for me. There are many good restaurants in the same street, and the next street. In fact the area is well known for its nightlife.
There were some minor irritations which were probably more noticeable at the end of four weeks in South America. The first one was the need to buy bottled water, there being only 500mls provided in the room. But there were shops nearby. The second was the disinterested breakfast service. The breakfast was included in the room rate, but the restaurant is perhaps a separate operation. There was no menu and after my initial order of fruit, coffee and scrambled eggs (5/10) I had to seek out the attention of the waitress for items such as salt and pepper. I was also served only about 150mls of water. Luckily I knew a nearby cafe where I could get a real desayuno, cafe Aldea Paraiso in Constitution St.
The Aubrey is a lovely boutique hotel. The location is excellent and despite being very central and close to great restaurants, bars, sights etc., it's very quiet. The staff are exceptional and provide personalized service. It has only 15 rooms, yet lots of beautiful indoor/outdoor common areas. Hotel staff are very good at arranging reservations in town and even arranged a private tour to Concha Y Torro winery, which is worth a visit.

Great location if u want to be near to bellavista activities. However very very loud with kids screaming at 8am outside your balcony. They did not supply clean towels or replenish the bath soap throughout stay. Surroundings are run down. But it is an excellent location and serves purpose if u don't plan to spend much time in room.
I arrived around midnight and they were very accommodating. The gentleman took me up to my room and generously showed me all the details of the room (the heater, the safe, the tv, the bathroom, the hairdryer, everything!). It was very cold outside but not once was I cold inside. Breakfast is simple but very good - bread, scrambled eggs, fruit, cold meats and cheese, yoghurt and some type of cake each morning, along with a variety of juices and tea and coffee of course.
Everyone I came across in the hotel were very friendly and more than happy to help. I was a solo traveller so relied on local recommendations for tours and eating out and I couldn't have been happier with their help.
Overall, my stay at Hotel Loreto was fantastic and Id most definitely stay again, as well as recommend to others. Thank you for a memorable trip!
Staff very helpful regarding tourist attractions and recommendations within the city. Walking distance to restuarants, plaza de armas, fish markets, San Cristobel. Not far from metro if needing to travel further. Excellent modern breakfast courtyard with good selection. All day free espresso coffee, teas, juices, cake and fruit. Nice relaxation areas on each floor. Good wifi.
