My wife and i brought in New Years in Belize for two weeks. One of those weeks we stayed at the Macaroni Hill View Hotel, and we had one of the best times of our lives. The Ferguson's (the owners) made our trip with there hospitality, generosity, and there eagerness to make us comfortable. The whole family took time out of their days to show us local customs, hidden treasures, and teach us everything they could about their country. And You can't not mention the food, Mrs.Ferguson is a tremendous cook, some of the best local cuisine. If you are looking for a trip to Belize this is one of the best places to stay to experience Belizean living. We will definitely be back.
We were very concerned about our stay here due to some unsavoury reviews, but my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised:
Our room was not only clean, but smelled clean and breakfast was a delight. We had a great view from our room and the staff was all in all very good.
My husband and I recently spent five nights and 4 days at the San Ignacio Hotel. To avoid the heat of the day we did our trips to the Mayan sites in the morning and evening. During the afternoon we enjoyed a breeze on the balcony where we read, played scrabble and swam in the beautiful pool. The staff was very attentive and the meals were excellent. The hotel is a great place to view birds and we really enjoyed the Iguana project located there. We thought we were going to get a lot of rain but the August weather was perfect every day and the rates are much lower than in high season. Stephanna Tewey, Wilmington, NC

We enjoyed the relative seclusion of the Grand Caribe, the spacious, beautifully decorated condos, the quiet, the walks along the beach, the side excursions we took, the food and the total atmosphere of the place. We are already planning to go back longer next year!
We were in a two bedroom/2 bath condo. The condo was OK. We would never stay here again for several reasons. The mosquitos were horrible.. Anything north of the bridge was not maintained for mosquitos - or for that matter roads. Mosquitos were an issue every where but this location seems much worse than any place south of the bridge.
The unit's AC worked very sporatically. The hot water went off the second day and we had cold showers the rest of the week. When I reported this to the front desk they appeared to think that there was nothing wrong with a cold shower. They never attempted to correct the situation. The AC was looked at a couple times it just did not work well at all.
The water in the unit (kitchen and bathrooms) did not look clean. we were told not to drink it, but that we had to shower and use brownish water in our kitchen was disspointing.
We spent a week on a private island prior to our visit to the Black Orchid, we appreciated the airport transportation which was provided, the driver - Kenny was very polite, courteous and allowed us to make a quick stop at the grocery store on our way to the hotel. Very pleased with the accommodations, room was clean, air conditioner worked well and the staff was great! Our room was not ready so we sat by the pool, I was being welcomed by a few mosquitoes (while we waited by the pool) when a gentleman walked past indicating I might need some bug spray. I indicated I had some, but it was in my suit case, which I think was already outside our room. Next thing I knew, he brought a bottle to us to use and keep until we checked out. We were very surprised by this kind gesture, which we grew to realize, this was the level of customer service provided by the entire team during our stay. We met the owner who provided us a tour of the new check-in area and shared the growth they experienced over the years. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Belize.
