“Friendly place to stay in Hamra”
The Mayflower is a friendly place that is convenient to Rue Hamra and the American University of Beirut. The neighborhood is full of surprises, especially for tasty local food. I have stayed at the Mayflower twice now, and I can recommend it to anyone looking for good value.
“Excellent location, nice hotel”
Hotel staff was very friendly and hotel very clean
“Cheap Hotel”
The location was good, but the Air condition was so bad. If you want to stay at cheap hotel i will recommended this hotel, but if it doesn't matter for you go stay at better hotel.
“nice hotel with average services”
The hotel is nice, it doesn't look new or at it's best condition but you don't find problems. Hotel services are somehow poor, no one offers you to carry your luggage to the room, internet is very expensive and slow ($15 per day) many other hotels are offering it for free. and when it doesn't work you cannot get proper help because hotel is reselling the service for some other company
“good budget hotel”
The hotel staff are switched on and very helpfull. The hotel is in a central location next to shopping streets and buzzing restaurant/bars. However it is quite old and it is a little bit strange in this day and age to have an ashtray inside an elevator. There's sort of damp smell once you enter the hotel and bed spreads need change specially if they are burned by cigarettes. I believe it will be good investment to tackle those important details
“Nice Hotel With Good and Friendly Service”
Nice Hotel With Good and Friendly Service, Very nice and helpful receptionist
“Pleasant stay”
Having read other reviews, I guess my expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised. I had requested a room with two beds and received an upgrade to a large room on two levels with an extra bathroom. As my adult son and I were traveling together we really appreciated having the extra space. My only complaint was that the room was a bit dusty. The bathrooms and the rest of the hotel were immaculate, so this was a minor annoyance. And even without the upgrade, given the location and relative comfort of the hotel, I think the cost was very reasonable. We were there only one night so I cannot comment on what it would be like staying there longer term.
“It was awful experience”
My wife and I had to reject the first three rooms they showed me upon my arrival. There was a strange odor all over the hotel rooms. Bad lighting, rooms with L shape and hidden windows and bunk beds like army husing . old elevators, stinking rugs. It was awful experience. eventually I told the precipitant that I would like to cancel my reserve and move out to the Sheraton. Eventually he took the risk and gave me the executive suite that equivalent to 2 stars hotel in the USA.
“Standard Room-Nothing As Pictured On Website”
The hotel lobby and the Duke of Wellington are very well maintained. The standard single room I booked was very old, the tub tiles were cracked in some areas, moldy in others. The room was fairly clean, yet dated and I was very surprised to see no bedspread whatsoever on the bed, just a plain, old blue blanket. I did not expect much for the rate, however, given they advertise themselves to be a 4 star, I did expect the room to be in better conditon given the pictures shown on the website. The hotel is in a perfect location right of of Hamra. There is a little grocery store just one half block away, the sea is within about a 10-15 minute walk. Some of the reception staff were quite friendly, while others were rather cold and stuffy. If you're just looking for an inexpensive place to sleep at night in terms of a room, I guess this place might work for you......
“Good and reasonable Hotel”
The Mayflower was a good hotel, however, I must remark that the reception needs to be more freindly; I found that they do not smile unless you ask for that indirectly. The location was perfect, the first room was very poor for one night but was changed for me to an excelent one and that I appreciate for the man at reception. The breakfast area was poorly climatized and hence it was not comfortable; where I also would like to suggest they refurbish the cafe's furniture. The Bar did not have customers but one does not need it due to the hotel's best location. I sieze this opportunity to thank Mayflower management.
