“Just what we needed”

We had to make an emergency trip to Beijing to help care for our grandson in critical condition in the Beijing United Healthcare hospital. We wanted someplace close so we could walk between the hotel and the hospital. We were pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful place. I travel on business and this was a very typical business hotel. There weren't many frills, but we were very comfortable. We speak no Chinese and our biggest fear was getting to the airport on our own when we were ready to leave. The doorman didn't speak English, but he had a little card that we used to communicate to the driver which terminal we needed to go to. This was a very nice touch. We enjoyed our stay and definitely would return.

Area recommendations
This hotel was in a western area of the city. There were several very good western style restaurants close by, There was also a very well stocked western grocery store.

“Average”

A very average stay. Hotel facilities are adequate for the business traveler but do consider another neighborhood if on leisure.

“Great place to stay between flights”

I have stayed in this hotel many times and I am very happy with it and its service. I often recommend this hotel to friends who also need to stay in Beijing a day or so. It is comfortable, clean and convenient to those coming from the airport. The price is reasonable and the food offered on the premises is fine for a smaller hotel. Overall, it is a winner and I will be happy to return again and again.

“Good price, good room, good breakfast. Nice staying.”

The hotel is good, not 5 stars but fairly good. The included breakfast better that i expected. I minor con is that you have to get in only by one rotating door and if you have big bagagge it becomes a little difficult. The room is small but good. The heater very good and quiet.Safety box and commodities. Defenitely i´d stay there my next visit. And good price after all.

“Good business hotel”

A nice looking hotel in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Service is excellent. Rooms are clean and good enough for business stays. There are some signs of age in the bathroom fixtures, but everything seems to function OK. The room rates are reasonable. I usually take a Superior room if I am travelling alone, and a Deluxe or Executive if I take my wife along. If you are staying there for the first time, I recommend that you ask them to show you different rooms before taking one. I have stayed at many hotels in Beijing, some better and more expensive, and others worse and cheaper. I settled at this hotel primarily because of the proximity to my client's headquarters. In Beijing you'd waste several hours a day in traffic if you choose a hotel not very close to your place of visit. Also, you won't like to miss your return flight due to the traffic congestion. This hotel is only less than half-an-hour drive from the Beijing Int'l Airport.

Area recommendations
If you stay in this hotel or nearby, do visit the Art Zone 798, several city blocks of artists' workshops, galleries, outdoor and indoor exhibitions. The Art Zone is a converted old industrial district, and most of the art works are of the highest quality and originality. There are several other art zones in Beijing, but this is arguably the best. It is about 1.5 miles NE of the hotel - which is a relatively short distance in Beijing.

“Clean and Pleasant stay - Oct/Nov 2010”

My 5 night stayed was very pleasant. Quick check-in and check-out. Clean room, nice back of the hotel view of the city, park and Chinese pavilion. Close to good food, walking distance to supermarket. About 40 rmb to the city center by taxi. Close to 798 space which is a Art district (10 rmb by taxi). The staff at the front desk and restaurant spoke English and was very pleasant and helpful. Food at the restaurant was tasty and filling but a bit expensive.

“Excellent Quality for Price”

The hotel is an excellent choice for the price. It has a upscale lobby and excellent staff that can help you with all your travel needs. Their Bellboy service is outstanding and can even help you schedule a whole day trip to the Great Wall, Jade factory, Silk factory, Lunch, and vase factory with a private driver for under $60 a person. If you are not going to use the wetbar in the room, you can request that it will not be used, and they will remove the contents. Then the normal deposit will not be required. The room has a great coffee maker for coffee and tea that is refilled every morning. The bed was very comfortable compared to other places I stayed. The room was very clean, and decorated very well. The room also features an in-room safe. Guest services include money exchange at great rates compared to other locations. They also have 3 restaurants to choose from in the lobby. And a small gift store with reasonable priced beverages. The location is a little ways from scenic places, but can be easily be reached by taxi at their low rates. When I was there, both the BMW Group and mercedes where having their training seesions here in one of the conference rooms. I think this speaks for itself on how well this hotel is regarded.

Area recommendations
If you are going to see the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Tianamen Square, Beijing Zoo, Temple of Confucious, Military Museum, Belhai park, Wangfujing Shopping I would recommend staying near the International Hotel or Howard Johnsons Paragon which is located on Line 1. This location provides easy access to all parts of the city by subway. I stayed at the Howard Johnsons paragon, and all you do is exit the hotel, and walk to the corner nearest the Beijing Railway Station and you are at Line 2 loop that will connect to all railways within Beijing.
Getting around
I used the subway for primary means of transportation except for a few times I used a taxi. From the Airport you can take the Airport Express which will bring you too Line 10 and Line 2. Both of these lines can link you by subway to just about anywhere in the city. The subway is only 2RMB and you can transfer between lines without leaving the station for the same price. If you leave the station, then you will have to pay the 2 RMB again. To go to Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square take Line 2 to Tiananmen East or West station. To go to Temple of Heaven take Line 5 to Tianton Dongmen Station, to Summer Palace take Line 4 to Beigongmen Station, to Military Museum take Line 2 to Military Museum Station, to Silk Market take Line 2 to Yong'anli Station. Olympic Stadium, Take Line 2 to Line 8, and transfer , and then get off at Olympic Sports Center Station. For temple of Confucious it is recommended to take a taxi. Apple app for Beijing Railway is highly recommended as it is an exact duplicate of what you will find in the subway cars. Also when you are going down the stairs into the subway, look at the sign that is above the stairs, as it will tell you the furthest station in each direction. That way you can determine which subway car to get on depending on which direction you need to travel.
Must see
The attractions I went too, and would recommend to anyone that is going to Beijing are: Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Temple of Confucious, Military Museum (closed on Mondays), Summer Palace - enter at Beigongmen Station on Line 4 (then walk all the way to the lake, as there are a lot of scenic areas that most people miss when coming in other entrances). Temple of Heaven has a lot of people in the tree area south of Temple of Heaven that play music, dancing, singing, and sword practice on Saturdays.
Shopping
Wangfujing is a great shopping area to visit at night. This area is lit up, and has a lot of people out in the streets enjoying shopping and sight-seeing. Also this area has the Mens Market with all sorts of food vendors on one of the side streets. Sanlitun Shopping area is very near the Workers Stadium and offer upscale stores including the Apple store and great cjoices for food. Recommend taking a taxi to Sanlitun from the subway, as it is approx 1 mile. The Silk market is another place that is fun to shop if you like bargaining to get your final price. Be prepared to walk away before they will finally give you the product for the price that you are wanting to pay.

“Good location bad rooms”

I have stayed many times at the Rosedale and have booked "Standard" rooms which have always been to my satisfaction. Upon checking in, we were giving a dirty room with lumpy beds and told this was an upgrade. It wasn't until our room safe broke that they changed us to better room. Otherwise, the hotel itself and the location is good.

Area recommendations
This hotel is in a good location for Beijing--it is close to a wonderful spa--Taipan (inexpensive massages), great restaurants, Starbucks, all within walking distance. Only a 20 minute ride to the airport.
Getting around
Make sure you have the name of your destination written in Chinese before you hire a cab. They speak very little English and definitely do not read well.

“I'm going back in January 2010!”

I have been to this hotel six times now over the past 3 years. It is one of the best hotels in this district of Beijing. The staff are friendly and honest. Also, it is very easy to get a taxi at this hotel, which can take you to the Pearl Market, Silk Market, Russian Market, etc. for a small price. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Nice clean hotel in a residential district”

The Rosedale Hotel is a clean, quiet, and efficient hotel. It is in an area which I am very familiar. There is shopping, health spas and restaurants in walking distance. The only strange thing is that if you want your windows opened, they make you sign a "waiver of liability" in case you fall out of the window. China is most exciting.
