This is a lovely little hotel in a classic Beijing alley. Our first room, a double, was small and not ideal. Thankfully we were upgraded and the second room was much better for a couple. The hotel is charmingly decorated with wonderful courtyards. A much more intimate experience than some of the other option son Beijing. Great breakfast too. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so welcoming.

This an oasis in the centre of the famous hutong district of Beijing. Our room was beautifully furnished and opened out onto a courtyard with relaxing chairs. Everything we required was provided in our room. Excellent breakfast and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
We would definitely stay there again.

Super staff...very interesting location in a traditional neighborhood. Breakfast was well presented and plentiful! Worth visiting! Close to Forbidden City and Night Market. Nearby market and easy subway access.
I love this hotel and try to stay there every time I go to Beijing. It is a traditional 300 year old courtyard style house, which is laid out beautifully. It has everything from the most affordable, modest rooms (which do not include a bathroom), to beautifully spacious rooms that do include a bathroom.
The location of the hotel is very convenient, especially if you plan to use the Metro while in Beijing. It is closest to the "Dengshikou" station (on line #5), and about a 7 minute walk from there. If you take the "C" exit, cross Dengsi South Street, until you reach "Xitangzi Hutong". Turn right down the hutong, and walk almost all the way to the end of the street. There you will see a traditional gate for a courtyard house marked "No. 35, Xitangzi Hutong". Walk through the gate to the first building and enter. This is the office and breakfast room.
i stayed 5 days in this hotel with my family.the place was near the touristic areas, near to subway and the local life.the area was very secure, hotel was old chinese decorated, clean and the staff was helpfull.it has only 6 rooms, the size of the room was enough.
This boutique hotel is a gem located in the heart of many hutongs/alleys. So many attractions are within walking distance. The breakfast buffet is only $5 which has the best coffee I tasted in China and the food is delicious. Don't worry, it is primarily a western style buffet! For sure, I will stay with them on my next trip to Beijing.
We passed 7 nights in this hotel at the end of April 2013. Beautiful traditional hotel and very well located. I think the best location in Beijing but that's only my point of view. Located in the hutong, lots of life around (restaurant, coffee/tea places, shop) but the hotel is a very quiet hutong (alley). Not far away from the tube (10-15 minutes approximately, nice walk). Very good value for money. Breakfast buffet is OK but I would recommend to try the numerous places for breakfast you have around the hotel (if you like Chinese breakfast of course). They didn't have the standard room we booked and they uprate our room for 7 nights (it was a traditional room, very nice). Staff friendly but not always efficient. We booked a Beijing opera night with them, they told us to be ready at 6PM in the hall (when the spectacle started at 7.30PM) they told us at 7PM that the "car was broken and couldn't pick us up... maybe better to book the spectacles on your own as it is not so difficult to circulate in Beijing with the tube.
Great place to stay if you want to experience the feel of a chinese courtyard house in a hutong. Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are on the small side by today's standards, but that is part of the charm. They worked with what the original building had to offer when they converted it to a small hotel. The staff was really great. Could not have been more helpful.
