“Excellent deal for BJ”

Unless you need to be downtown Beijing, this hotel is a great value. Located way North - next to the Olympic Stadium, it is not over priced and very comfortable. Staff is very accommodating. Room are clean and even business suites are affordable. A taxi ride to downtown will take you about 30 minutes depending on traffic and cost about $5.

Getting there
Taxi from the airport costs about RMB 100 (~US$15) and takes about 30 minutes. Print the address of the hotel in Chinese to show to driver.

“Good for conference in Beijin”

This is a very decent and reasonably priced hotel . At first we were intimidated by the smell of the room which had been a smoking room prior to our arrival. The concierge promised that if we go out for a while, the housekeeping will "do something" and it will be ok, and indeed by the time we came back from dinner, the smell was gone. We stayed for a week, during which the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location is good, particularly if you are attending a conference at the convention center. I would stay there again.

“Good value”

The heating system was out of control in my first room but got a new one without problems. Fitness room is a bit basic. Nice lobby, nice rooms and good service. Especially good value for money.

“Near Olympic Birds Nest- CNCC (national conferenece centre)”

If you want to be near the CNCC / Olympic area of Beijing this is well placed - I'd stay further in if you want to do the historic sites...though the subway is easy from here - it involves many changes. Never found the grocery store (which would have been handy) and not overly impressed with local restaurants compared to those in Dongcheng where I first stayed... lovely walking through the flood lit Olympic park area from the subway / the CNCC at night - felt safe walking as a woman on my own , as many people around, well lit... Hated the electronic self -player grand piano in the rather smokey lobby! Easy to get taxis from this hotel. Room - fine - comfortable but characterless like most international hotels - I was so happy that i'd started the trip with a stay in the Double Happiness Hotel in the Dongcheng area - fabulous character hotel with excellent english -speaking staff.

Area recommendations
Dongcheng - very central - old Hutongs and original housing - very interesting ...
When to go
Avoid the pollution and heat of August!!
Getting around
The subway is easy and cheap (flat fare)- can be a bit confusing when you come out re where to go - even major sites lilke the Summer Palace not well marked form the subway exit. Top tip I was given: Get the hotel's name written in chinese characters at the airport before you get in your first taxi... and take with you when you go out - taxi drivers seem to have the least english and people don't read maps well even if you know where you are! - also hotel staff will talk to taxi drivers, restaurants etc and make directions etc clear...
Shopping
If you hate the hassle of bargaining - the department type stores where the chinese go have fixed prices.
Dining
the French restaurant in the Legation (quarter (Maison ?) was a very lovely treat - 8 times more expensive than any other meal I had but still ok by western prices and a nice change from local fare.
Events and shows
The acrobats are fun indeed.

“ON THE DOORSTEP OF BIRD'S NEST STADIUM”

Great hotel right on the Beijing Olympic grounds next to the famous Bird's Nest Stadium. Can't beat the location. We stayed there during the Olympics and it was a fabulous location. Ask for a room that has a stadium view. Easy walk to tour the Olympic grounds.

“L'hotel in assoluto più vicino al Bird's Nest Stadium”

Probabilmente mai effettuata manutenzione dopo l'apertura, bagno fatiscente benché grande, letto molto comodo, arredo studiato male (ad es. a cosa serve na poltrona attaccata al letto ed alla parete accanto?). Camera tutto sommato sufficiente. Comoda la posizione a 30 metri dal Bird's Nest Stadium e immersa nel distretto Chaoyang per chi si reca per lavoro. Colazione magnifica, peccato per la quasi assenza di qualsiasi pietanza da colazione occidentale. Rapporto qualità/prezzo soddisfacente, personale non interamente padrone della lingua inglese, il minimo indispensabile. Staff cordiale anche nell'indicazione di consigli e nel supporto operativo per la visita del centro (lontano dall'hotel, ahimé) o di luoghi d'interesse. Wifi solo nella hall, cabled internet nelle camere, di velocità ben sotto la media. Sicuramente da migliorare. Tv con soli canali cinesi, tv on demand con problemi di connessione e di visualizzazione, tanto da rinunciarci. Ottima l'aria condizionata, perfettamente funzionante e faclmente controllabile.

Consiglio di comunicare al tassista come destinazione il Bird's Nest Stadium, per lui sarà sicura più probabile raggiungere ll luogo.
Dining
Ottimo il TGI Fryday nella struttura dell'hotel. Starbucks dall'altra parte della strada, raggiungible in 5 minuti a piedi.

“Das Hotel liegt am Olympiapark,wenig Verkehrslärm,bessere Luft als im Zentrum,aber weit draussen”

Bin zum wiederholten Mal gerne Gast in diesem Hotel(Business Suite).Das Hotel liegt direkt am OlympiaStadion(Vogelnest) und Olympiagelände.Ziemlich weit entfernt vom Zentrum,daher ist die Luft besser und es liegt ruhig.Allerdings braucht man ca. eine Stunde (Taxi) zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten im Zentrum.Das Publikum ist gemischt vor allem chinesische Gäste und ausländische Geschäftsleute.Frühstücksbuffet chinesisch und reichhaltig.Das Restaurant eher nicht zu empfehlen.Kein Pool.Kein Wellnessbereich.Die Zimmer sind sehr comfortabel und gut isoliert,Bäder zwar gut ausgestattet, aber Sauberkeit und Instandhaltung lassen etwas zu wünschen übrig.Trotzdem alles in allem kann man sich wohl fühlen.Das Hotel-Personal gibt sich große Mühe.Die Klimaanlage funktioniert gut,Fenster lassen sich auch öffnen.NR-Zimmer.Bankomat und Geldwechsler in der Lobby.Sehr komisch ist ein weisser Computerflügel, der scheusslich vor sich hin klimpert.

Die Umgebung ist unspektakulär,Wohngebiet,fußläufig ist ein Einkauf schwierig,Sehenswürdigkeiten sind im Zentrum per Taxi billig, aber zeitaufwändig zu erreichen.U-Bahn alternativ und schneller.

“Weniger für Touristen,am Olympia-Park,weit weg von Sehenswürdigkeiten”

Anständiges Hotel am Olympiapark,etwas abgelegen,dafür ruhig.Großzügige Zimmer,keine Wellnessangebote-kein Pool.Reichhaltiges chinesisches Frühstücksbüffet zu moderaten Preisen.Personal bemüht sich und spricht allerdings wenig englisch.Geldwechselautomat in der Lobby.In direkter Umgebung eher Highways als Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.In Stosszeiten des Verkehrs ein bis zwei Std zum Zentrum mit Taxi.Eher ein Hotel für Geschäftsleute,Clientel überwiegend chinesisch.

“Abgelegen im Norden am Olympia-Park, nachts ruhig,wenig Strassenlärm”

Ein gut ausgestattetes Hotel,das in Sauberkeit und Service eher mittelmässig ist.Frühstück eher chinesisch, reichhaltig,aber Reinlichkeit läßt zu wünschen übrig.Keine Wellnessangebote,kein Schwimmbad.Kein Supermarkt in der Nähe.Ein Hotel für (chinesische)Geschäftsleute.Zum Übernachten ohne besondere Ansprüche: TV nur chinesisch+CNN.Nachts ruhig, Discothek hört gegen 21.00 Uhr auf.Ich hatte Business-Suite gebucht,das Zimmer war schlecht vorbereitet .Badezimmerboden war vergessen worden und Teppichböden waren nicht gesaugt.Housekeeping hat dann sofort reagiert und sich entschuldigt.Rezeption war unangenehm, weil eine hohe Kaution verlangt wurde mit der Begründung, die Company(Expedia)hätte nicht gezahlt und ich würde den Rest bei Abreise zurückerstattet bekommen.Ich habe mich erfolgreich geweigert.Einige Tage später war mein Zimmer geblockt und es wurde erneut Kaution verlangt, was ich wieder erfolgreich ablehnte.Fazit:zum Übernachten ist das Hotel geeignet, aber man fühlt sich nur in Maßen verwöhnt.
