“Frequent China Ttraveler”

My first concern on choice of hotel was location so I picked, from a star rating this hotel which was near the exhibition I was interested in. I read the previous reviews and while there were some negative reviews, I felt that perhaps the hotel had got the message, obviously this was not the case. The carpet in my room was well (very well) worn and I did not appreciate the mold in the bath. This hotel needs a serious renovation. The doormen where go and the lobby lounge staf were very friendly and helpful. Check out took much too long. The "western restaurant" was usually occupied by few and I now understand why. The Chinese restaurant was the best. There were few non-Chinese in the hotel an while it may have met their expectations,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 4 star I doubt.

Area recommendations

The usual Forbidden City , The Wall and the square but walk through the square away from the Forbidden City and walk some of the back streets.

Other

Hot Spring # 8 was nice. The bath was relaxing and the food was good. Had my first foot massage there and it was relaxing.

“Excellent deal overall”

Very nice hotel for the price. Both the common areas and the room was nicely appointed. Room cleanliness (only carpets) was not absolutely perfect, but it was acceptable. You can't beat the location!

“Beijing hotel”

This hotel was quite nice. It was in a pleasent location, and very near several groceries and restaurants. It was on a major bus line if you knew what bus to take, it would be very convenient. It was a 15-20 minute walk from the metro, which was not convenient.

Traveller's tip

If it is possible to figure out the bus system in Beijing I would reccomend using them. They are air conditioned and relatively quicker than a taxi and very cheap. All the food I got from street vendors to restaurants was delicious, and I was never ill from it. I would bring an inhailer if you can get one.
