OK hotel with great staff

Posted 05-May-2015
Pros: The staff, really helpful and friendly. The lobby area is ok for a drink and the prices were not too bad
Cons: Some form of better deal with the local parking, over zealous enforcement
Location: Location is not too good, although Wetherspoons and Yates's close by. Parking wardens out in force at 9am sharp on Bank Holiday Monday ticketing cars
Not the easiest place to find and the local surroundings are not the best. There are a couple of bars very close, the bus station and one of the worst shopping areas you'll find anywhere in the UK, pure 1970's concrete. We arrived in an absolute downpour and the lady on check in could not be more helpful, even searching around for a brolly for us. The local parking is a real issue with charges at various times and stopping restricted to 30 mins. Hotel was full of warnings about the parking. Our room was a decent size and very clean although it looked out over rubbish bins, a car park and some strange looking backs of houses, ok for one night. Breakfast ok although very cheap sausages and sloppy scrambled egg

A practical Hotel where I needed it.

Room was clean, bed softer than I personally like, breakfast good. My only concern is the car parking - being across the road with no obvious security it felt that the car was vulnerable (I accept that the nature of the site makes this is an issue).

Great value for money.

I use this hotel regularly. Staff are always pleasant. The brekfast is poor and parking is woeful but it's central and convenient.

Town centre hotel, excellent value

Posted 13-Apr-2015
Pros: Value
Cons: Not really an improvement but a restaurant or even bar meals would be a useful addition.
Location: Most restaurant facilities are away from the town centre across the railway. Not easy to find if you don't know it is there.
Free parking, breakfast for two and a clean modern hotel for £50, can't be bad!

Nicely situated hotel close to rail station.

Posted 03-Mar-2015
Pros: Easy to get into London from this location. Very helpful staff.Great breakfast .Very clean.
Location: In central Stevenage near both bus and rail stations. The hotel only does breakfast there are plenty of eateries and take-aways near-by.
Booked this hotel as it is easy to get to from where i live.It has free parking and is close to the railway station to get into London(Kings Cross) very quickly if you get the right train, check you get one with minimal stops. I got rail tickets with Travelcard zone 1-6 for 15 pence extra than the ordinary train ticket. Wife and Daughter went shopping while i used the travelcard to see London sights before taking in a show at The Palladium(CATS). Then easy return journey to hotel.

Pros: Everything worked, never had to wait for the breakfast dishes to be replenished and the proximity to the railway station as I did not have my car.
Cons: Perhaps the nets in the room needed washing.
Good choice of hotel for me - within walking distance to railway station. The room was very clean and the staff very friendly especially Emily on reception. I would definitely stay there again.

Cheap and you get what you pay for!

Posted 02-Mar-2015
Got to hotel and we were given a disabled room even though we are not disabled - it was fit for purpose but that was about it! It was clean but there was no real comfort! If I had paid more than £40 then I would have complained but you get what you pay for I suppose! The room was freezing and there was no radiator and The towels smelt like they hadn't been washed would be my only criticisms! I wouldn't return I must say!
