Helpful staff but very limited evening meal

Posted 16-Sep-2014
Comfortable hotel but kitchen / dinner facilities need to be improved. Restaurant menu was four types of pizza only, no desserts. When we ordered two of the four were unavailable and they could only cook 5 at a time. Breakfast was good quality but the hot breakfast was sausage, egg and beans only (no bacon etc) and the "selection of fruit segments" was grapefruit. Guests were constantly having to ask for glasses as they had run out and the plates, even for the hot breakfast, were very small. The whole experience felt very penny-pinching.

Ok if you have to stay somewhere

Posted 09-Sep-2014
Good: Hotel staff is friendly, rooms are clean. Price is good, and rooms are often available. Beer on tap in lobby is nice and the available pizzas though expensive are tasty. Bad: Internet is atrociously slow (0.15 Mbs) - unusable for business. Breakfast could use an upgrade to the eggs, the coffee and the sausages. Rooms are very small. Parking is a challenge as you either park behind the hotel, temporarily in a department store lot across the street, or in an actual parking lot for the sister hotel down the road a couple blocks. Location is Stevenage, although convenient to shopping and the train station is near the bus station which attracts unsavory characters in the evening.

Dissappointing

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Pros: Hairdryers in good positions beside mirrors. Towels good but no flannel.
Cons: Carpets need to be steam cleaned, pillows renewed, air freshners in bathrooms. More staff to cover breakfasts (poor girl done her best)
Location: Bars near by were really bad, leisure park offered eateries but for older people it was quite a walk.
Bathroom smelt, stains on carpet, pillows so uncomfortable along with bed. No butter at breakfast I did ask and was told they have run out - not good. Breakfast tables not cleared only one assistant to cover breakfast is not good enough as it was very busy. Parking was not on site.

Great stopping point en route to London

Stopped off here on a run from the North. Hotel is modern and clean, but on edge of town centre so don"t pick it for the views ! Wifi was a waste of time, if it was not free I would have wanted a refund. Breakfast basic but included and enough to get you going. Good value for money for a one night stop.
