“Not bad @ all!”

The room was small but for the price it serves the purpose. The room includes a refrigerator and a microwave. Its clean and conveniently located next to Burger King and alot of other eating establishments. Stores are at your finger tips practically in walking distance.

Area recommendations
The Waterfront Park and the shops on the water are awesome. The resturants are clean and the food is great. There is a playground for the kids and swings and table for the adults. WiFi is also available for those who can't live without technology.
When to go
The best time to visit would be between May and June.

“Nice, inexpensive, convenient”

This is a nice basic motel. The desk was helpful and brought us more towels quickly as requested. The breakfast was very basic, but if you want a little more, you can walk to McDonald's. The motel did have make-it-yourself waffles. We were pleased with the free internet with no access code. That made it no-hassle. Beaufort was charming.

Area recommendations
The historic district is absolutely darling, with many of the houses used in movies. Also, there are two interesting old ruined churches worth seeing -- one(north of town) burned in Revolutionary War, was rebuilt and burned again in Civil War. The other, on the island, burned in 1886. The buggy ride through town is nice. Warning: Shopping closes at 5 p.m. Restaurants are open later. Waterfront is lovely with a cool breeze. Just out of town is Habersham, a significant modern development designed to mimic all the good of yesteryear -- front porches, close neighbors, walk to restaurants, mixed income, etc.
When to go
We went late May. It was hot and muggy, of course. We were told that the buggies might not go if it was too hot, so earlier in the year might be better.
Getting around
I'd recommend the commercial buggy rides. The narration gives you an idea of the history. Otherwise, we parked in a neighborhood and walked a few blocks into town. It's very walkable.
Must see
The historic district is a MUST -- so very charming!

“America's Best was the WORST!”

The location of the America's Best Inn in Beautfort, SC was great. Just 10 minutes from downtown and within 40 minutes of all major attractions including Hilton Head, but that is where it ends. the rate that I recieved for my 3 night stay was comparable to the rates of other hotels in the same area. I chose this particular hotel because it was pet friendly, but the room was a discrace apon arrival. The furnishings were second hand and neglected. All of the linens (bed sheets, besdspreads, towels) were badly worn out and needed to be replaced, the bathroom showercurtain was splattered with grime. I reported all of this to the manager/owner who seemed to not be surprised by any of this. I decided to stay only after he sent the inn's only two housekeepers directly to the room, and while I supervised, they completely stripped, cleaned, dusted, vaccumed, and replaced all linens including the pillows and shower curtain in the bathroom. The manager only came by briefly to check on the progress. He did not stay to supervise his employees. The reason I did not ask for another room is beacause there was reasonable evidence that the other rooms were probably just as bad. After the room was thoroughly cleaned to my complete satisfaction, I went on to enjoy my holiday weekend. In conclusion I was simply shocked by the extremely low standards of this particular hotel chain. I would not recommend America's Best Inn to anyone and I will never stay at any of thier locations again.

“Met Our Needs”

I chose this hotel based on price and got exactly what I paid for. The rooms are small and definitely older, but provided us a clean, safe place to sleep at a low price. We were there for a USMC graduation and needed to be out so early in the morning that we missed the posted hours for the continental breakfast. I learned later that they accomodate Marine families by serving breakfast early on graduation weekends. I wish I'd known this while we were there, so hopefully this info will be helpful to someone.

“Will not use this hotel or Expedia again.”

The hotel was noisy and we could hear the guests beside us even in normal -voice conversation. We could hear the guest above us as the walked across the floor.

Area recommendations
Any where on Boundary Street. Many good restaurants and shopping establishments can be located here. One can find one's way to most of Beaufort, SC, from Boundary Street

“Probably the worst place I've stayed”

We came here for a USMC graduation. It's about a 15 minute drive from the hotel to the base, depending on traffic. The hotel priced up the rooms because of the graduation and I felt we payed far too much. The room was a 2 Queen room. The room was fairly clean but my wife and I did find some hairs on the bed sheets, nasty. The bathroom was very run down, though it was clean. The walls are thin and the beds were very uncomfortable and had dips in the middle. Thats the run down on the room, now to the interesting stuff. One thing they didn't advertise was that there would be "working" girls coming to the hotel looking for someone around 9:30. They knocked on about 3 different doors. Later in the evening, a fight broke out inside of a room and the police arrived with sirens on. Its not a nice hotel, but we needed a place to stay for the graduation. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else, you'll be glad you did.

Area recommendations
Beaufort is a small town and there isn't anywhere specific I would recommend staying. This place, similar to others in the area, is about a 15 minute drive to the base.
Dining
There is a Burger King and Chik Fil-A within walking distance and there are a few sit down resturaunts within 2 to 3 minutes drive

“Will Never Stay Here Again”

I stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and it was much better than this last stay. The hotel room had a ordor to it. The bathroom needed some work done to it. I would not stay there again. The hotel was cheap and I guess you get what you pay for.

Area recommendations
The area where we stayed was great. We were right in the Middle of Beaufort. YOu are close to grocery stores and restuarants.

“Badly Disappointed”

Sink blocked, fixed and then ran on the floor, then fixed again. Pictures gone from wall although hangers still there. Cahir at desk broken beyond sitting on it. Fridge open, not cold. no vents in bathroom, peeling paint on ceiling of bathroom. could not read the temperature settings on the air conditioning unit, they were wore/scratched off. Continental breakfast was a joke: gone in just a few minutes in a room about the size of a closet. Just a few towels every day, had to ask for more each day. The staff were very nice, but did not speak english clearly, difficulty in communication.

Area recommendations
The Beach, and the hotel on the same parking lot as this one...it appeared to be so much nicer. Would like to have been closer to the beach @ Hunting Island and the fun in Beaufort. Seems like this hotel should have been cheaper.

“For cheap, no frills hotel I heartily recommend it”

The Best Value Inn's a good place to hit the hay overnight in Beaufort. The room was clean, the king size bed comfortable, it had an in-room refrigerator and microwave. We'd be driving for twenty-four hours straight and weren't very picky. Two minor faults-- the breakfast buffet was very low-rent-- doughnut holes and milk, no juice; and the wireless internet pathetically slow.

Area recommendations
East Side of Beaufort is much nicer, closer to downtown and Parris island. We were on the funky west side, which gets hardscrabble and rough 1.2 miles down Boundary Road.
