We got a room overlooking both the ocean and the river and were chaffed to boot!. Rooms were lovely, clean and the staff super friendly and helpful front desk to the security guards. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe - away from the madding crowds.Will definitely stay here again!!
The room was comfortable and well-presented. The guesthouse is in a quiet area, although there are some shops and cafes about 15 minutes walk away. Staff were helpful, and were able to arrange transport through a local taxi company.
Stayed on 2 separate occasions and had great experiences both times! All of our requests were responded to perfectly, and with a smile. I was traveling with friends and we had 2 rooms (4 rooms total). Each room was different, comfortable and quite luxurious! There are plenty of private sitting areas, indoors and outdoors, and great views of the city, Indian Ocean and beautiful lush foliage. Totally relaxing!

"Clean, comfortable, welcoming and excellent food"
The hotel is situated in one of the more desirable areas of Durban just down the road from the Presidential Palace. The premises are secure, but it also has private security as an added measure.
The rooms are spacious and well furnished, the staff friendly and hospitable and the menu just excellent as is the food.
The head waiter, Jean Francois, is an excellent source of knowledge and advice to any tourist. His advice and general guidance was greatly appreciated over the following weeks of our stay.
This was the perfect start to our holiday in KZN and I highly recommended it to others. Needless to say, it is also excellent value for money.
Jean Francois appreciated real coffee and kindly obliged my request for fresh coffee to be brought to our room before breakfast.
The young receptionist helped me order a airport shuttle that picked me up just outside of the hotel for 80 Rand instead of the 250 to 300 rand via taxi. She was very persistent and courteous. I also was delighted after a very good breakfast to find out that it was included in my rate. I strongly recommend the Quarters Hotel. The place is first rate, charming and is at the start of a very buzzy street.
This hotel is right on the beach, with beautiful views off the balconies. Both for the ocean and people watching. This was the cheapest hotel along the beach that looked decent, and it was better than decent. It was pretty good, and for the price it was excellent. There were renovations going on (which was stated at time of booking), but other than that everything was excellent. I paid for a room with breakfast, and the buffet was very good. I loved the waffles. And the staff loved my 10 month old son, which was nice.

Everything about my stay in this hotel was fine until check out, when I discovered that I was wrongly charged R350 for a car service from the airport to the hotel. I booked this trip and paid for it through Expedia. Before my trip, I called to confirm and I asked if the hotel has an airport pickup service. A staff said the hotel did not have that service but gave me a number of a car service to make my own arrangement. I NEVER called that car service because a friend who was also attending the conference got a rental car, picked me up from the airport straight to Durban ICC, where I registered for the conference and stayed until after 9 pm for the first program. I called the hotel from the ICC that I was arriving late, and also got direction to the hotel. My friend dropped me off at the hotel that night. When I explained this, one hotel staff member's immediate response was - "What is your friend's name?" "Where is she?" I felt hurt that she questioned my credibility, by asking for the name of my friend. I asked for evidence of car service - the name of the car company that supposedly picked me up from the airport, the time of the pick up, and any form of transaction with the car company, but the hotel staff could not provide any of these. Of course, I refused to pay for a service that I did not receive. The hotel staff did not acknowledge their mistake and did not offer an apology. I travel quite a bit and I have never had such an experience.
