Our check in for two rooms was swift and efficient, and we soon found ourselves on the 9th floor of this modern hotel. The room was a good size (although we did have bigger elsewhere) with a well fitted bathroom. Two double beds, the usual facilities, a small balcony and an excellent view across the bay and Nanaimo waterfront. It was great watching the float planes come and go - although the 7:30 am take-off did wake me up on the first morning - but I wasn't com, plaining! Breakfast was either set menu or buffet style. price for price the set menu was better value, and the eggs benedict excellent! Even served English Tea!

We stayed here for two nights in one of the 2 bedroom suites. It's an old building and some of the renos were obviously not professionally done, but it is very decent for the price (We paid $109/night for the suite with 4 people through Expedia). We had our beds changed and towels replaced after the first night without even asking for it (we did not put out the maid sign as we didn't actually feel like we needed new stuff). The beds were clean and reasonably comfortable. There was a tv in the living room, as well as a tv in each bedroom. The kitchenette was a nice benefit so we did not have to eat out for every meal. I had read previous reviews that mentioned the owner was yelling at people, but we only had pleasant experiences with him. If there was anything this place could do to improve, adding an ice machine and a snack vending machine would be good... that said, there are stores and restaurants within walking distance for that, and it's only a few mins drive from a grocery store and downtown.
THE OVERALL STAY WAS OK JUST NEEDED SOMEPLACE TO STAY AS I WAS VERY TIRED HAD BEEN A LONG COUPLE OF DAYS.
THE DIRECTIONS TO PLACE WERE NOT VERY CLEAR WAS HARD TO FIND.WAS TOLD AFTER YOU COME OFF THE FERRY TURN LEFT GO PAST THE MALL AND MCDONALD THEY ARE ON THE LEFT AND SIDE.
WELL THERE WAS TWO MALLS AND TWO MCDONALDS BEFORE I CAME TO THE HOTEL.
IF THEY WOLD HAVE SAID GO ON ROAD PAST CASINO OR LIKE OLD HIGHWAY TO VICTORIA WOULD OF MADE MORE SENSE.
FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST LIKE MAYBE COUPLE BLOCKS FROM FERRY. TURNED OUT TO BE LIKE 10 KM. FROM FERRY.
