We stayed here a year ago and loved it. We weren't disappointed this time either. Everything was great. Great place to relax or have fun. Be sure to find out the water park times if you have kids. The pier and ocean toys are nice too. Restaurant has decent food. Our family really likes this place and we can't wait to come back.
Definitely the best vacation we ever went on! Now we have so many memories, wallpaper pictures of palm trees and the warm Caribbean sea :D Definitely worth going and seeing :)))
Be Live Canoa probably has the best beach in the surroundings as it's wide with sandy surface and a beautiful view - perfect for taking lots of pictures!! It is very well taken care off, has beach beds and cocktail bars!! You can also dance various types of latino dances with hotels' animators, play volleyball, take kayaks, etc.
Food was amazing and we got to taste all different types of food in 4-5 different restaurants (Japanese, Mexican, Brasilian, etc.). Hotel is very romantic and you can have candlelight lobster dinner.
Hotel is lgbt friendly.
You should book all tours in advance as providers on site are not reliable. Tours and products are expensive.
Definitely would recommend going to tobacco factories - Tabacalera de Garcia or La Flor Dominicana. Also recommend buying cigars, cigarillos with flavours and, of course, rum (Barcelo and Brugal).
Do NOT go to Saona island! All the tour providers actually give you the same thing but for a wide range of prices, but all you see is a crowded beach full of bees that won't leave you in peace. Water is shallow for about half a mile in distance from the beach, and the tour operators don't really care who is or where who is in the water so they park their speedboats on the beach among the people - too crowded!!
Expensive local calls!!
The beach was excellent the nightlife was good. They need to stop harassing customers to join their beach club every single day some staff me ever would approach us about participating in a presentation about their beach clubs very exhausting and not really what people want to do on their vacation.
My wife and I stayed for five nights at the Dream La Romana. It was so very relaxing, and the facilities are superb. Everyone was very friendly, and the entertainment staff was awesome! The food was very good, and all-inclusive is the way to go.
Very peaceful place, with friendly staff. A humble environment, makes you feel like you're at some relative's beach house. You can sleep all day if you want and you will not be disturbed. Everything is clean and simple. There is a very nice pool which is usually empty for you. You can grab a a bike (for free) and go for a spin around town.
Everything is different from big hotels where I sometimes feel like treated as an intruder.
So... We travel quite a bit and usually go for the all inclusive 3.5-4 star rated places. Having read some of the negative comments from other reviews I was a bit nervous. That being said I would definitely come back. We had a beachfront bungalow. It was nice. Newly renovated. Everything was clean and worked great. We stayed a week and I think 2-3 roaches found their wAy in... No biggie. The beach was amazing. Pool atmosphere was great. All the staff go above and beyond. The main bar at the pool was fun. Deily, Yoacani, and Stalin were my fav bartenders. If u tip them you will find that you will get better service and get your drinks faster since I noticed my crew was the only ones tipping and especially at night when the bar is packed. Food was pretty good at the buffet. As far as the other restaurants that require reservations I would pass on Atlantis and La Roca. Not great at all. The other restaurants were pretty good.
The grounds were immaculate! The resort was fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful. Most of the guests were Europeans when we were there, which is fine by me.
English skills were limited for many of the staff members. Speaking Spanish was very helpful. I don't think this is anything that needs to be improved, but it's something to be aware of for guests that only speak English.
