Nice, clean hotel.

Posted 28-Mar-2015
Pros: Cleanliness, air conditioning.
Cons: Needs ant and mosquito control inside the rooms.
Location: Nothing nearby.
Good place to stay if you like to be on the beach and pools. No activities nearby. Well away and isolated from the town.

Beautiful Hotel, probably not worth he money

Posted 27-Mar-2015
Pros: The grounds, rooms and setting was beautiful.
Cons: do away with hotel credits, bracelets, status pools and the bad music
Location: They really tried selling tours and activities. There really is no town close by or things that looked interesting.
The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Food is very average and tiresome after a week. The hotel needs to do away with status bracelets with pools and beaches only available to people with different colored bands on their wrists. The ATMs dispense only local dollars so take what you will spend with you in Us dollars. The resort credits do manage to get people to do activities which is its design yet the management really should have a better way to achieve this. The hotel is built around rock and roll yet had speakers on the grounds, pools and concerts blaring techno or reggae centered music (horrid). Overall a very average hotel for the money.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - An emormous resort

Posted 27-Mar-2015
Pros: Clean, spacious and well kept. The resort is huge and we enjoyed the shuttle bus/train which transported us between our room and the beach.
Cons: More information at check-in. Stop the customer service (sales) staff pushing legendary/vip on us. i was invited 10 times to breakfast!! Annoying!!
Location: Plenty to do outside the resort, but the cost adds up. The resort credits are just a marketing ploy to get more cash from you and really not worth it
My wife and kids (teenagers) managed to get a great deal on this hotel through expedia. Transportation can be booked in advance, but we got taxi (cheaper) from the airport. The resort is enormous and very well run. Take plenty of cash if you want to buy anything as every is expensive.....i mean expensive! As you'd expect from an all inclusive, there's enough food and drink and the hotel caters for everyone which was great. The hotel boasts 13 swimming pools, but cut out the adult only pool, the VIP pools, the kids pools and you're down to 6. If you don't like to swim around people drinking, the number goes down to 3. As expected in March break, the pools and beach were busy, but this didn't stop us relaxing and having a good time. They say tipping is included, but if you want to please the staff in the resturants and bars, always tip, even just a dollar or two. Resort credits are a joke and not worth it. it's a way of getting you on a trip and although the you get to see more of the Dominican, you will be pressured to spend more money with the tour guides or locals and some are very pushy. If you know that ahead of time, you'll be fine. Again, take more money than you need! Overall a great resort, very active, lively, with plenty to do. we wouldn't go back, only because we like to explore other places, but recommended for families with older children in my view, why pay for a venue with a casino and clubs when you have young kids.

Nice overall hotel , but .....

Posted 24-Mar-2015
Pros: Rooms
Cons: Fooooooooooooddd !
Location: Well located
The hotel room and personal are excellent, but the food is below average. We were on vacation and since the arrival you have personal of legendary company trying to sell their product, also the personal from blue travel were calling to the room for selling their excursions since early in the morning.

Nicely themed hotel but don't expect fine dinning

Posted 22-Mar-2015
Pros: The rooms were spacious and the decor original Some of the staff were amazing
Cons: Have at least one restaurant that serves excellent food well served and with decent wine list
The hotel has a lot of intersecting rock icon memorabilia and plays great music. The rooms are well appointed and for the main part not too far from the action. The garden are beautiful near the main areas but a bit untidy and spare in the less viewed areas The staff are either totally brilliant, happy, helpful and polite. Or sullen unhelpful and not at all interested in serving you. This was a bit disconcerting as you never knew what to expect The main disappointment was the food. The buffets were ok for breakfast and lunch. Well stocked, fresh food and a good choice. In the evening however supposed fine dining was more like cafeteria food. In all other palace resorts the Italian was always a highlight with real gourmet food and a la carte level service. Here it was a spaghetti house with 90 minuets wait. The Japanese steak house we tried twice. The first time just a table and regular menu. The waiter was reluctant to serve us Sushi, which was Luke warm when it arrived. We asked for white wine and had finished our meal by the time it arrived. The main dishes would have been ok but was barely warm. The waiter also knocked soy sauce all over the table and made no attempt to clean it up. The second visit we opted for the full show and sat with a group around the hot plate. Our 'chef' did not even bother with any sort is show apart from whooping and shouting across to him mate. The food was ok. The best food sadly was the fesh pizza. Over all I would give the food 2 stars at be

Best beach ever

Posted 22-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff and beach were great!
Cons: Pool problem (see above) and the selling of the VIP package which was annoying. Hallways are nasty and casino machines were too tight.
Location: Location was fine but never left the resort. They had people all over selling things to do...annoying.
Spring break so it was packed but the only place it was a problem were the pools...all chairs were taken by 6:30 AM and people left towels but never came back ! Staff was outstanding, food wasn't bad for an allinclusive. Grounds and rooms were nice, pretty clean....lots of walking to get from place to place.

Beautiful resort, exceptional service!!

Posted 22-Mar-2015
Pros: Atmosphere, music, variety of choices, service, theme.
Cons: Have a shuttle bus run in the opposite direction. It's a huge resort. I have mobility issues and found it very far to walk to each area.
Location: Location was not far from the airport. Lots of excursions could be booked through resort credits, which are awesome, making them more affordable.
This hotel exceeded all our expectations at every level. The staff, from the maintenance people to the front desk clerks were very friendly, courteous and professional. We felt welcomed and their customer service was exceptional. The resort was clean and well organized. The food was above par. We felt safe there with our family/kids. There were plenty of things to do for people of all ages. So much so that you can't do it all in one visit. Though it's a huge resort there were seldom problems with wait times or accessibility to beach or pool chairs and we were there on March Break. One towel man by the Isla pool even got a chair from the beach for my wife. Talk about service! The resort credits are great too. Makes doing excursions and spa treatments more affordable.

It was ok - which isn't good enough

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: The room set-up worked well for our family, and the resort itself is beautiful.
Cons: Stop marketing this as a "family-friendly" resort. It's really not.
Our stay can be summed up by our final dinner there: at a fairly nice restaurant, during a good meal, one of the many, many US college spring breakers sat at his table dry heaving, after a day of too much rum at the pool, while his three buddies hooted, hollered, cursed and swore. It was spring break central. Each morning at 2 AM, our kids were woken by the yelling partiers coming back to the room next to our 2BR family suite. Beyond that, the beach, while beautiful, is the roughest I've seen - if you want to spend time swimming in the ocean, don't bother with this resort. We've stayed at three resorts on Bavaro Beach - Melia, Barcelo and Princess - and the beaches were amazing. Not so at the Hard Rock. And the pools were lovely, but the resort lets people stand in the water, smoking - gross. On the plus side, the food was plentiful and decent, and the room was lovely.
