“Location and price great but that's all”
The location was fantastic, few blocks from train, shopping and sites. Room wasn't exactly clean and warm water and water pressure in the shower was nonexistent. Staff were surly or simply disinterested. Charging £10 for 24 hours of wifi is outrageous.
“Good Location”
Located very close to the railway station and heart of the city. Very convenient walking distance. Hotel is old and needs some improvements, such as carpet in the room. Very good to have a lift going upstairs, without the hassle of carrying heavy luggage by hand.
“Good Hotel”
Large room, well kept, and friendly service.
“Great Location”
Great location, very central. Hotel was dirty and un-maintained but that seems to be normal in the UK from what we saw on our vacation. Shower was horrible - a trickle at best and either boiling hot or freezing cold....
“Good value for money”
A nice hotel with spacious rooms and character. Only one complaint - water pressure of shower in my room was extremely low. (This turned out a benefit though after a fitting fell of and blocked the plughole - taking a shower at normal water pressure would have led to overflow).
“Too Old”
Front desk help was very informed and helpful. The location was very good, within walking distance of the Abby. Very old structure, very small rooms, only heat was a portable heater. The wait staff were cheerful and accomodating.
“Convenient location to train”
It was very close to the train which helps for baggage transporting. Hotel was quaint, though fairly run down. A bit pricey for the condition of the hotel.
“Good location but shabby”
As an overnight stay for just one night this hotel was perfectly adequate but I would not recommend it for a longer stay. The hotel is in need of refurbishment, which in itself is not a huge problem but how easy is it to replace badly torn curtains?? My bed linen was definitely not clean and this alone will make sure I never return. The breakfast was ok but the eggs were swimming in grease. A bit of investment would make this a lovely hotel but there are things that could be addressed in the meantime to make it a much more pleasant stay.
“AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!”
Although this hotel may be in quite a good location and look nice from the outside beware!! The Rooms are very dated, tatty, small smelly and dirty!! The staff who hardly spoke English and not helpful in the least in fact are very rude. They look at you as if you were something they scraped off their shoe. They had discos that went on all night and were not concerned at all about the guests staying at the hotel. There is also a night club next door and the noise from outside is dreadful in the night time. forget getting any sleep if your in a front room! Please take my advice STAY WELL CLEAR!!!!!
“Pretty good but several minor reservations ............”
Liked this hotel overall. Had a couple of issues though. We had problems with lights in the room not working. We reported them but they were not sorted before we left on the fourth day. Mirror in room was not particularly clean. Bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast was really good as was the dinner menu. Had an issue with the pricing of port - was rectified when we queried it. Found it difficult to get a consistent temperature for the shower. Also, the toilet did not flush reliably or well. We decided not to report these last two - if the lights were not going to be fixed what hope was there of these ? (Hope we're not doing them an injustice).
