“Perfect location”

“Classic location, lovely hotel”

Bath is a fabulous place to visit and staying at the Mercure Francis Bath puts you right in the action. The historic building fits right in with Bath's atmosphere. The room was comfortable and clean. Reception staff were friendly. We had some difficulty ordering at the bar, with not a great range of choices, however the service was friendly.

Area recommendations

Visit the Roman Baths, then enjoy a similar treatment yourself by relaxing in the mineral waters at Thermae Spa!

“Excellent location and faultless staff”

The hotel is perfeectly situiated right in the centre of Bath, ideal for walking to all shops and main attractions for sight seeing. In the room we had there was no traffic noise and it was very peaceful. The staff at the hotel were some of the best I have come across in the world. They were friendly, very helpful and met every request promptly, courteously and with a smile and sense of humour which made our stay very happy and homely. Some of the fixtures and fittings are a little tired, but the location and staff made up for all of that and every where was immaculately clean. Would I stay there again? Definitely. Would I reccomend it to friends? Without a doubt.

“Curate,s egg”

The hotel is ok, but not up to Mercure standards that I have experienced before.The decor is tired and has a Post House feel about it. Location is excellent however, with all Bath,s attractions very walkable

anywhere in central bath is good. Car parking not so good. Hotel charges £15.00 anight, but this is a daily rate which is competitive

there are at least 50 restaurants within 500 metres from the hotel, so no shortage at all. The ones that we ate in were all good

“Robin and Sues trip”

As advertised, ideal location, car park charge a little steep at £15:00 per day but heh its right in the centre.

“great treat for a birthday”

the hotel is very well appointed in a great central location.plenty to do in surrounding area..the decor is fantastic feels very luxurious. very comfortable bedrooms. it was a good value offer we had including breakfast which is always and not so common place these days. we all enjoyed it very much and do recommend.

we visited the roman baths extremely interesting,a marvellous afternoon tea at sally lunds famous tea rooms. in the evening had a fab meal at hall and woodhouse just near the hotel. excellent service,ambience and food.

we recommend hall and woodhouse,GREAT KING ST, great gastropub dining experience,the calves liver with bacon and sherry sauce divine. they also did a lovely selection of desserts for my friends birthday.

“Good Value Hotel in Centre of Bath”

The Mercure Francis is very well situated, right in the heart of Bath and close to everything. It's a cosy, if somewhat dated, hotel with friendly staff and clean comfy rooms. The food is good value and well cooked. It has a good old fashioned atmosphere that just seems to suit it's location.

Roman Baths are worth a visit and if you have time try the recently restored theatre.

“Ideal base for Bath short stay”

A quality three star hotel at very reasonable rates (booked well in advance). Friendly staff not only in Reception but throughout. Broadband easy to set up/use. Woudl not hesitate to recommend to any friends or family. Significant savings for those who prebook a week or mroe in advance.

Bath - beautiful city. Lots to do. World Heritage City. We were tehre for first day of Bath Christmas Market - most enjoyable but the na trip to Bath always is. Will be better stil lwhen renovations at Rail Station completed.

“Charm and more”

Though the building itself is older (built after previous buildings on the site were destroyed by bombs in WWII), the rooms themselves are up-to-date. The hotel was conveniently located. The rooms were clean. The staff helpful. The only thing I found a little odd was the arrangement for getting online/wireless access. Service (via a passcode) could be purchased in increments of one hour, three hours, and 24 hours. Getting a passcode required schlepping down to the front desk and approving the transaction and getting the code itself. This felt a bit of an awkward, archaic process (I stayed at another Mercure hotel in Oxford, and there they were glad to give the passcode information over the phone.) Otherwise, it was a great place to stay.

Area recommendations

For vegetarians, I would highly recommend a visit to a quaint pub called The Porter Bar. It's at 15 George street, a five minute walk away. It was great to have a vegetarian version of Bangers & Mash, as well as a Full English Breakfast.
