“Location, location, location”
The Abbey Hotel is ideally located just a few steps away from the Abbey and the Roman Baths. Our room, facing the courtyard, was very comfortable and quiet and the staff very obliging. Our son-in-law and granddaughter stayed there the week before us and our daughter, a few days later; and all were pleased. It can be noisy when the pubs close of an evening, I'm told, but that's just part of all the activity going on in the nearby plazas. Bath is sheer joy..
“MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTED”
APART FROM ITS POSITION NEXT TO A PUB, WHICH PROVED NOISY AT BEDTIME, I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS.
“bath best western”
We stayed at the Best Western in Bath mainly because of its proximity to the centre of town. The lady at reception was very polite as were the staff the following morning for breakfast, which was very nice. Admittedly, the decor appeared a little dated and our room was not as large as its competitors but none of this detracted from what was a pleasant stay.
“Deserves more than 2 out of 5 for location alone!”
I have to admit, the Best Western wasn't my first choice hotel in Bath, mainly due to the lack of parking, but the original hotel fell through, so the Best Western it was! Although there is no parking at the hotel, there is parking outside where you can pull in to drop off your bags - and the public car parks are only a few minutes away, so that wasn't really a problem. The hotel is a bit of a maze - we went up one floor from reception, then down three, and somehow when we looked out the window there was still another floor below us - clever as reception is on the ground floor (never did quite figure that out, but wish we'd discovered the shortcut through the Bath Tea Rooms when carrying our bags to the room, as that seriously reduced the number of stairs suitcases needed to traverse! Having arrived on the hottest September day since records began, the air-con in the room was much appreciated, and it was quiet too, which meant that it could be left on through the night and I still got some sleep :-) Although the room was small, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom well equipped. The hotel is centrally situated, and pretty much everything is within walking distance - and it's well worth the walk too - Bath is a beautiful city. Breakfast was good, the hot breakfast is ordered, while the juice, and warm pain au chocolat and croissants, were on the buffet, along with standard buffet fare. The pain au chocolat were delicious! All in all a very pleasant experience.
“Impressed and would return”
You can only trust the reviews so much about any destination. But I did choose the Great Western Abbey in Bath, UK after regarding it's overall rating. I was NOT disappointed. The hotel is in the center of Bath. Minutes from the major attractions and meeting points for the tours. That said, I didn't feel crowded nor disturbed by these same points. The hotel was clean, offering warm drinks late into the night, service was polite and quick, our room was comfy; we couldn't have asked for more and with a great price too!
“The location is great”
It wasn't a bad hotel. Free wireless was out for the three days we were there. You could overhear guests complaining at breakfast. The rooms were pretty small, but that's what I expected being so close to everything. Aside from the person who checked us in, everyone was very pleasant.
“Great hotel with an unbeatable location”
I stayed here with my fiance for 2 nights in June. This hotel is conveniently located to the center of Bath. There are plenty of eateries and Pubs within walking distance. It is also close t othe train station, maybe 5 minutes walk. The staff were also helpul and nice.
“Great place to stay”
The location of the hotel is excellent, near the Abbey, town and the train station. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
“dissatisfied”
The hotel staff was less than helpful. The internet never worked, I heard other guests complain, but when we notified the staff they didn't even try to figure out the problem. We asked for help booking a spa appointment, they told us to walk to the spa. the spa told us we had to call. With the biggest attraction being the spa the front desk really should have some idea of how it worked. When we came back from the spa, we asked the desk to help us again and they told us to call-very inconvenient when we have to pay international rates and they could have just picked up the phone. The location was great. best part of the hotel, but the hotel itself, at it's price could have provided more comforts. rough sheets and a cleaning lady who simply rinsed the tea cups, and our whole wing smelled like wet paint the whole weekend. Worst part was on our last night of the relaxing spa vacation there were chinese tourists who screamed and partied in the room right next to ours ALL night. REALLY dissatisfied.
“Stay for breakfast”
This hotel provided everything I needed during a short stay in Bath. My room was on the ground floor was large and spacious. Whilst bathroom was dated it was fully funcitonal and very clean. My big surprise was the quality and great value of the breakfast. I had not planned to stay for breakfast with an early morning start, however I took the £7 option and was dleighted with a wide range (all in the price) and excellent quality food and service. I had the 2 bacon and pached eggs option with fresh tea (from leaves not bag) and it was easily equivalent to a breakfast in a 5 star hotel, and much better than the standard over heated buffet breakfast offered in many 4 star hotels. Make sure you stay for breakfast if you go there.
