Ideal for a short or long weekend
Just a short stay for the Xmas markets in Bath. Ideal location even if you don't want to walk there are local busses into the centre. Walking is about 20 minutes at a steady pace. Breakfast was very good and there are plenty of choices for both full or continental or English cereals. It would have been nice to have a later breakfast possibly to 09:30 for last service? The room (2) was warm and the bathroom refreshingly new with a view of the garden. It was nice to have a couple of relaxing chairs to crash out on. Plenty of parking on the road just outside but get a space in the evening when the workers have all gone home. It's free as there are only 4/5 spaces in the hotel.

Cute B&B, conveniently located, confusing to find
I loved my stay at Astor House and I would have stayed longer if I didn't have to fly back to Canada. If I ever return to Bath this will be my first choice. As well, I found the service quite stellar. My only gripe was how hard it was to find. But that's probably because I'm a Canadian who doesn't understand the street numbering system in the UK.

The guest house is basically clean and in good condition, but the room was very small indeed with very dated fixtures. Breakfast was not so great.

Very clean and welcoming, staff very trusting.
Room was very clean, breakfast was good. Staff let us check ourselves in and left a welcome note. Was very close to town centre and could walk there in 20 minutes. If you enjoy being left to your own devices Astor house is fantastic and I would highly recommend it. Staff were also very polite.

Absolutely lovely guesthouse - beautiful room overlooking bath - spotlessly clean and spacious. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice . Perfect for cyclists as only a short ride from the Bath to Bristol Sustrans path (although bit of a hill on the way back but worth it for the room view). Highly recommended.

Overall it was a nice place to stay. It was a good 20 minute walk into downtown up and down hills so keep this in mind if booking here. Bed was a bit hard and pillows were flat. Breakfast was good and there was a variety of foods to choose from. Rooms were clean and had a nice atmosphere.

A bit too far from the centre and up a hill
Overall, it was good, but I was disappointed to see how far it was to the centre. The map doesn't show that you need to walk up a steep hill to get there and had I known this previously I would have chosen one in the central flat part of town. So that we could return during the day for a rest before carrying on with our sightseeing. The service wasn't the best, even though the staff were friendly. The room, though clean, was small and cramped.

Overall the hotel was really good. The breakfast was good and staff pleasant and helpful. The room was ok, but it is a double and only one chair, the radiator was filthy inside and thick with dust and dirt which was quite plain to see so should have been noticed and cleaned well before it got to that state.

My birthday break
No welcome just a envelope stuck to the front door with instructions inside. Room dated . Bathroom shower dated. Definitely not an executive suite as advertised. Next morning saw a member of staff. Still no welcome. Breakfast ok . Returned 2nd day to 2 more envelopes stuck on front door . Breakfast following morning was ok . No goodbyes on leaving . Just a comment " you've paid ". Not really the way to make customers feel. Very impersonal guest house. More like lodgings .

Efficiently run hotel out of the city centre
Friendly welcome, efficient service, adequate breakfast. It was a little difficult to find initially. The hotel is located at a little over a comfortable walking distance from town so make sure you locate the taxi rank in order to return after an evening out.

Wonderful stay
We stayed two nights and everything was great, from location to the room and the host. It is an easy and pleasant 15-minutes walk to the city center, there are also plenty of buses to get and it takes only 5 minutes. The train station is also very easy to reach. The room was spacious and clean, the breakfast was good and the owner very nice. We'll come back!

A B&B that is definitely not to be missed.....
Lovely place - old Georgian town house. Nice big rooms with a relaxed atmospheric appeal. Well equipped with art decor fittings. Clean and comfy bed, nice power shower. Good customer parking. English breakfast fine and plenty to go at. Great for Bath City. We walked out the first time and it is about 10 mins walk and downhill all the way, we got the bus back. Second time we took the Number 8 bus from the road outside the Astor. Fare is a £1 and takes 2 mins into the center. We had a taxi back because it was late which cost £6. Lady owner was very nice and made us feel welcome. Considering it was Christmas Market week the rates were very competitive. We have talked about visiting Bath again to do the full tourist bit and would certainly give the Astor another look.

Beautiful house and gardens. Very warm welcome. Room was lovely. Christmas decorations were up so it all looked amazing! Breakfast was good. Only downside was the bed too soft. Think it might have been a well worn matress! Only a 15 minute walk into town.

Lovely hotel, easy to find a great for parking. Easily walkable to citt centre & on a good bus route. Walk around the corner & tgen just £1 on bus into centre. Near by amenities too.

Nice guest house with its pros and cons
Guest house was located in a handy spot to walk into the centre, down hill all the way in but up hill all the way back! Around 15/20 mins. The room was smallish but more than sufficient for the 2 of us, downside was the bathroom smelt like sewage, not completely over powering of course as we would have left but it seems the toilet system let out a stink and it lingered around which wasn't very nice. Service was good, everyone was friendly. Breakfast was ok, for a guest house it's usually on top form as it's more personal but it had it's down sides. But hot and cold available so nothing to major to complain about. We had a lovely stay for our wedding anniversary but for the cost we have said we wouldn't stay again.

Not what was expected
The House full of character with many original features but looking rather tired. The staff are wonderful at making your stay as nice as possible, with a wonderful welcome and lots of local knowledge and information provided. The Breakfast is fantastic and caters for anything you could ask for although on out departure day we noticed a change in the quality of the cooked breakfast and the hash browns were soggy, the eggs over cooked and the sausages were not browned properly. I am sure had I asked this would have been rectified. The first mornings breakfast was faultless. The choice is vast with great tea and coffee and as much toast as you want and staff are very quick in bringing food. Sadly we were disappointed with the overall experience. The room was advertised as " Executive Double Room, Ensuite " but was actually a very small room at the top of the house and not in my experience "Executive" in nature by any stretch of the imagination. There was black around the bottom of the shower edging. I could hear another guest snoring and talking, when others flushed their W.C. you could hear the water flow which seemed to converge in our bathroom. The house appears to be on a side street but this is actually busy and due to the room temperature (we had turned the radiator off) with the window open we were disturbed by traffic. We got ear plugs for the 2nd night. The bed was comfy but the pillows were not of the quality you would expect in a "executive room".

Great guesthouse.
Enjoyed our stay. Had a lovely room with a view of the garden. Excellent breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. Uphill walk home from wandering around Bath, but very manageable. There is a bus if needed.

Little Gem
