“Center of Bayonne”

This was perfectly situated for walking to from the train station, catching buses, and walking around Bayonne Centre.

“Excellent location”

A traditional hotel - in an excellent location. This is a traditional styled hotel with very friendly staff. The rooms are clean and tidy with sufficient facilities to ensure an enjoyable stay. Breakfast was very pleasant if somewhat chaotic. The food was fresh and tasty although not regularly replaced but there always sufficient food available. Our room had an interesting feature in that I walked up hill towards the outer wall in order to get into bed. The bed was large and comfortable. The location was fantastic. Within 1 minute we were in old Bayonne with it’s lovely shops and great eating locations including the crêperie by the Cathedral and the Belgian chippy. Very convenient for the bus and train if required. Will return.

“Disappointed.”

I had visited this hotel in June 2010 and returned in September. The second time I decided not to pay for an upgraded room and as a result was severely disappointed with the standard of the rooms I booked: 1 for me, 1 for my parents. My room was OK but its bathroom was appalling. No bath and a shower placed on a pedestal so high that is was very difficult to get in and out of. My parents room was little more than a shoe cupboard, unbelievably small, yet their bathroom was great if a little dated. The breakfast was good and the lady serving it very kind despite the fact she had a breakfast area full of people and a whole coach load from a coach tour to look after. The worst issue was the male receptionist who refused to look at us, was unresponsive to my questions (in French) about a luggage trolley and was generally rude. I tried to smile and be polite but its very difficult when someone is doing their level best to ignore you. When I return to Bayonne again I will make every effort to find a different hotel despite the fantastically convenient location of the Grand Hotel.

Slightly dated, and the floors are rather uneven but great location, very clean and woudl recommend.

The hotel is in a great location. The staff was helpful and friendly. It's an old hotel, but it has been updated nicely.

Bayonne is a most beautiful place with amazing history and this hotel in every way made our stay more enjoyable. The staff were really good and our room was excellent other than the valley centre bed!! The lift was quaint & the room quiet.

“Well placed stopover”

A good hotel for a B & B stopover. It is well placed for rail travel and a taxi ride from Biarritz airport. The staff are helpful and efficient. The breakfast is very good. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby and the old quarter of Bayonne is also close.

The hotel was everything we could have wished for with ideal location , comfortable accomodation and freindly helpful staff.
