“A self catering flat needs to cater for cooking”
This is not a bad hotel at all. The location is fairly central and near to buses and trams which have extensive networks. The smallish room was surprising well laid out for two people. Likes: despite the small 'bathroom' the shower was pleasant and hot - but no plug in the sink; towels were changed ever day - but did run out of toilet paper. The double bed was comfortable. it was easy to leave luggage on day of departure to pick up later - though we were not asked to prove which luggage we were picking up. Dislikes: for a self catering flat there was hardly any equipment - luckily we had brought our own kettle. However one small pan hardly makes cooking easy. Also there was a very limited choice of crockery and cutlery and no microwave.
“not impressed”
This hotel is just one step up from a youth hostel. Positive comments: quiet, safe appearing residential neighborhood. The room was clean when I arrived. Negative comments: Although I was able to sleep in the bed, the mattress is very flat, the pillows are little more than two sheets of fabric sewn together, the linen is cheap and worn. I stayed for 3 nights: the thin, scratchy towels were never changed, there were a few dishes I left in the sink (there is a small stove which I didn't use and mini sink) never got washed by the maid. On my third night, while I was in the room reading, a group of noisy students opened my door with a key they'd been given by the staff. Apparently the staff mistakenly gave them my room key, but if I hadn't been there, my things might have been stolen. The staff at the desk were not particularly helpful with directions, etc. NOTE: this hotel is a good 20-30 minute walk from the train station. I will not stay at this hotel again.
“Good value, very convenient to walk to EU parliament or into town”
I enjoyed my stay here, and I do stay in a great variety of hotels in Strasbourg, where I am once a month for four days at a time. This is very convenient off the Boulevard Clemenceau, and easy to walk to the parliament, or into town, or to the nearest tram line. Overall very good value for money.
“Solid choice”
Basic, but excellent deal for the money! Room was small but perfect for our one night stay and the breakfast the next morning was awesome. Location is good - parking is available and you can walk into the downtown area and see all the sites.
“Great Find”
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon. The hotel is close enough to walk to restaurants, bars and sightseeing, but it is located in a quiet neighborhood. The place is more like an apartment building than a hotel which makes it feel more cozy. While the room isn't too big, ours had a stove top, decent sized fridge and some cookware and utensils w/a table if you feel like eating in. The place was very clean and the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a great place to stay on a budget, I would definitely recommend Cap Europe.
“Very basic”
We (2 adults, 2 children aged 6 & 11) spent 1 night here. The location seemed OK, it wasn't too far from the station by taxi. The staff at reception were helpful if a bit distracted. Breakfast was not very good at all - not much choice, not much food, what was there didn't seem to be great quality. Our room was definitely grungy. We had a 2-bedroom apartment which consisted of: Foyer - sink, stove, bar rfridge Main room - futon bed, table Second room - 2 single beds, TV, Microwave balanced on a chair, wardrobe Bathroom - shower, sink, toilet. The bathroom was definitely kind of grey - not actually dirty, but not clean either. THAT SAID ... if you are looking for budget accommodation in Strasbourg, this is probably not a bad choice. I just wouldn't call it a good choice, either.
“clean, quiet, cheap”
Given the price there is little to complain about this hotel. Sure, it has the ambience of a youth hostel (especially the bathrooms) but the rooms are huge, most seem to have a kitchenette and at night it's extremely quiet. The rooms are very clean and the staff is fairly friendly and accomodating.
“Perfect for a one-night stay.”
As a family of four staying in Strasbourg for one night only, this hotel was perfect for us. The staff at reception were all very friendly and, although we communicated in French, we heard them speak English to other customers and they were courteous and friendly in both languages. The room was a bit cramped but comfortable enough. There was a micro-wave and a fridge in the kitchenette but no kettle. The bathroom was quite spacious with a walk-in shower. No toiletries, just a soap. Breakfast not worth the asked price but we didn't feel like walking to the nearest cafe so it had to do. We had visited Strasbourg on other occasions and were there this time just to visit a friend so we didn't need the city centre. All in all, good value for money but I wouldn't stay there more than a couple of nights. One slight problem: there weren't any shutters or curtains in the room, just net curtains so we woke up with the sun.
“Cap Europe”
The welcome was ice cold, the room was dirty with holes in the walls. We tried to upgrade and was told there were no more rooms available. This i find unbelieveable in the middle of February,in a 900 room hotel ?????
“Apparthotel Cap Europe (Strasbourg)”
Habitation confortable, assez près du centre historique (10 minutes à pieds). Le petit déjeuner, non compris dans le prix de la chambre, est copieux et pas cher
