The hotel is away from the concrete of the seafront and is set in beautiful gardens. Modern in style but still very appealing, the rooms are a decent size and look out over the sub-tropical gardens; a nice view to wake up to.
Breakfast is very good and there is a gourmet restaurant for lovers of good food.
This is not, however, a hotel for people with walking difficulties. It is a good 25 minute stroll down to the centre of town and therefore a slow climb back up the hill. Some restaurants in town have shuttle services, and cabs and buses are there for those who don't fancy the walk back.
Just a reasonable downhill walk into Funchal centre, this comfortable old house style hotel has spotless swimming pool with sun beds to laze in on the days not spent out & about.getting around is easy, bus stops all a hop away, parking in the grounds, really delightful views,& if traffic noise gets you down ask for quiet bedrooms at the rear.
This hotel is in a great location, has good staff, very good facilities and better than expected for the money paid. We arrived before check in opened and they welcome you with a drink and tried to sort out the room, when they couldnt they offered us a larger alternative. Very friendly and close to town. Book it.
Great hotel for couples. Room was exactly what we wanted and the spa facilities were great, including free use of hot tub, sauna and indoor and outdoor pools! Hotel staff were happy to help when asked and the hotel was an easy distance from Funchal centre, either by bus for €1.90 or a pleasant 20 minute walk. Balcony view of the sea was incredible as was the view of Funchal from the rooftop. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
I am very glad that booked this hotel thanks to all good reviews! The room with a balcony had everything to provide a comfortable stay. Do pay for an ocean view vroom as it doesn't only give a great view but also keeps you away from the noise of the road behind the hotel. The breakfast was great and well worth the money paid! There was a good choice of breads, cereals, fruits, hot and cold drinks, some cheese and meats, and also hot cooked eggs, sausages, baked beans. Looking for a meal out will cost you much more time and money in the area in the morning.
It was great to discover that the hotel has a sun deck on the 11th floor with glorious views of Funchal, and also a lovely spa with an indoor pool ( in addition to the outdoor one), jacuzzi, sauna and gym. One can also book a massage for additional cost. There is a curtacy bas to Funchal every hour which was great! Amazingly, they also organise an entertainment almost every evening.
Wifi is provided downstairs in a lovely resting area.
All in all a very pleasant stay.
