While the hotel is nice with a great breakfast buffet - it is NOT close to Rio's areas of interest for a tourist. Absolutely worth it to have a memorable beach side stay. The neighborhood of Barra is very cute with boutiques and alternative restaraunts and shop.
I stayed for 7 days on business. It worked out well for that. Breakfast was very good, much better than anything you see in the US. The staff didn't speak much English but that is to be expected. Their limited English and my limited Portuguese worked out ok. The room was nice other than a small issue with flies in the bathroom a few days into my stay.
It is too far from Copacabana if you wan to do touristy things, about 30 minutes by cab with little traffic. Otherwise there are plenty of malls and different restaurants to try. A trip to the local beach is only a few minutes and not as busy as Copa. If I am back in Barra, there is a good chance I will stay here.
Staff were friendly and spoke a little English . Room service was a bit of a challenge with the language . Hotel was situated well for my business at Rio Centro convention centre and 1/2 hour away from Copacabana beach in the other direction
The hotel is simple. Furnished modestly, but comfortable sleeping, Nice breeze from the balcony, I slept with the doors open the whole time, did not turn on the AC. The desk staff spoke English but no other. Breakfast was okay. The hotel was very clean and , grounds well keep, pool area nice. Busy street in front, but great beach view and a little crossing street because of traffic flow, but very nice beach once you are there. The restaurant Hollandaise next door was nice, reasonable and the food was good.
Excellent staff, the restaurant has good foods . The only concern was with the WiFi , because I had to sign any time if I left the room, if I was log in for 45 minutes, them I had to log in again. So it was a little worst because you have to do the same with your laptop, your Ipad, your phone....
Nice service and I recommend it
Pocket Guide: Rio de Janeiro Barra da Tijuca Hotels
Once a desolate sandbank, Barra da Tijuca has become one of Rio’s fastest growing locales. Here, clear-green waters lap along Rio’s longest beach, which stretches for about 11 miles. Barraca do Pepê (Pepê’s Shack) is popular among surfers. Barra da Tijuca has a few large shopping centers, including the American-themed New York City Center that is a bite of the Big Apple in the Marvelous City.
