“Barcelona - May 2011”
The hotel is located 3 blocks from the nearest metro stop (Hospital Clinic), which is very convenient. It is on a busy road, and you hear a lot of traffic noise in your room (even on the 5th floor!). The room is quite comfortable and not too small, but I had to ask reception to have the aircon turned on the first day. Luggage storage is available, but since they send you downstairs with a key to the store room I am not sure it is that secure. The room does not have a safe storage box, and the door does not have a double-locking feature. Walls very thin, and you hear your neighbours clearly. Across the road is a fillng station with a shop, where you can buy water and cold-drinks. Around the corner is a Pans & Company which has great take-away food. I would recommend the hotel to other travellers who need a room for sleeping in at night, not for spending time in during the day. The pool and jacuzzi were still closed for maintenance.
“not a bad option”
Basic hotel, but clean and quiet. Staff were helpful. Can't say i was bothered by having a small TV as i wasn't there to watch it! Breakfast served until 11am each day, with a good selection of fresh pastries and fruit. Good selection of local ammenities and a short walk to the transport links to the centre of the city. Would definately stay there again.
“A nice value”
The hotel was a little bit away from the main central area and tourist sites, they were easily accessible by mass transit, taxi, or 25 min walk. The neighbor hood was nice with several nice restaurants that catered more to locals than tourists. That was a nice benefit (also cheaper). The staff was very helpful and exceptionally friendly. I would definitely stay there again!
“Overall this hotel is good value for money, and conveniently located for all Barcelona's facilities.”
I had a nice room with a good double bed and excellent bathroom facilities, which were serviced every day. The only reservation is that the hotel is on a very busy main road, and, with no double glazing in the room, the traffic noise was definitely a problem, starting early in the morning and going on until late at night. And with the thousands of very noisy scooters in Barcelona, I found this to be a definite minus, which would make me go for a hotel on a quieter street next time.
“Terrible nights”
While the hotel was not exactly the most up-to-date, it did the job. The bed was comfortable enough, the room spacious and the bathroom in working order. Access to the pool was through an underground passage to an adjacent hotel and was actually a nice little sanctuary in busy Barcelona. The good? The hotel was a 5-10 minute walk from a train station so it's location wasn't too bad. In fact, the neighborhood was quite nice and we were conveniently located in between the main attractions around Barcelona. The staff were generally very helpfull and were able to advise us/answer questions we had before we left on our journeys, although their levels of English varied. The bad? A tiny 12" TV that hardly worked, broken wi-fi for the duration of our stay and the thinnest windows known to man made the trip far less bareable. The busy street outside is made worse with early morning rubbish collections (4-5am) and a petrol station less than 100m away, so you're constantly interupted by tiny, noisy scooters speeding away after their fill up. The window in our room never seemed to be shut despite looking like it was and we ended buying ear plugs to make sleeping a reality!
“Sunotel Junior”
Very nice staff, decent location. The air conditionning did not work, the telephone did not work and the bedding was worn. On a busy street.
“Great for those travelling on a tight budget”
Hotel rooms were very clean, small, but not uncomfortably small (I've stayed in smaller hotel rooms before). I spent all day every day sight-seeing, so if you don't plan to spend much time in your hotel room, this place is great. The area felt safe, I agree with a previous review that the area felt safe for females travelling alone at night. Metro stop is very close walking distance, and attractions such as Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera are walking distance on a nice day. Two of the front desk staff were amazing and so helpful/knowledgeable, and all around friendly, others were not so helpful or friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
“Good basic hotel”
This hotel is not central but very close to the metro. So, I found it very convenient. The elevator is loud and can be heard in the rooms. So, if you are a light sleeper, this may bother you. A little bit of street noise as well. However, it was very clean and the roof-top pool is great. Overall, I found the hotel to be a great value and would definitely go back.
“A good experience”
Love Barcelona. Hotel staff, particularly night staff, were all very helpful and accomodating, went out of their way to be pleasant including helping out during disruptions due to the volcano and the airport getting closed.
“Sunotel Junior Barcelona”
the room was a bit chilly. The control for the heater in the room was programmed to not go beyond a certain degree. It was winter time, it was slightly uncomfortably chilly in the room. The room was small, but it was not suppose to be a luxury hotel, so it was understandable. Overall, it was ok, except for the temperature in the room.
