“very pleasant hotel”

helpful staff.very clean in a quiet location.although good location for family reasons for us,may be a little far out of the centre for tourists although plenty of taxis,a walk to lesseps square where there are plenty of buses to plaza cataluna and ramblas.cake shops, coffee bars and restaurants all very near.note we were told walk in showers only available in single rooms.

Area recommendations
dozens of areas.after all it is barcelona! ramblas port area, montuic, tibidabo, guell parc.sagrada familia.too many to name.city with a real buzz
Getting around
taxis reasonably priced.metros all over city.frequent buses plus open top turist buses from plaza cataluna.
Shopping
many great stores inc many corte ingles
Events and shows
concerts, theatres, also antique market near the rambla.farmers markets plus the enormous permanent market off the rambla.

“A quiet and comfortable place to stay”

Choose this hotel as a quiet base to explore Barcelona from. It was reasonably priced too. The metro is just round the corner which makes it perfect for sightseers. Our room was comfortable and clean, just what we wanted! I would stay there agin in principle although there are so many other hotels to choose from!

Go to Gracia - it's a lovely neighbourhood and very lively if you go in August during Fiesta time!!

“a little out of the way but a great place...”

Our stay at this hotel, overall was great. The room was exactly what we were expecting although it is a bit out of the way (far from the city center) but easy to get to from the subway - L7. All of the hotel receptionists were great except for one who wasn't as helpful. The shower, the bed, and the AC all were great. The in-room safe is not big enough for a laptop. The only thing that would make this place a lot better would be a continental breakfast.

Must see
You must do the hop on/hop off city bus tours! They were wonderful! They stop at different tourist attractions every 5 - 10 minutes and you can stop as long as you want. We did the two day tour and still didn't see everything. The buses are double decker buses with the top open air. This is a must!

“Out of the centre but good none the less”

The reception staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. Hotel is bright modern and comfortable, with efficient air conditioning. Only downside was the traffic noise first thing in the morning and the motor scooters racing up the hill outside at night! But still quieter than a city centre hotel. The reception staff speak good English. Although, not cheap at 12.96 euros, the buffet breakfast is extensive and we ate well, so we only needed a snack at lunchtime so saved money in the long run. Although away from the centre of Barcelona, it is located in a relatively quiet residential area just a few minutes walk from the El Putxet metro station - a 10 minute ride to Placa Catalunya. There is a small supermarket opposite and a larger one up the road, plus a good range of local shops. We even found a nearby photo shop to buy a new memory card for the camera. There are numerous small cafes and restaurants within a 1/4 mile radius. We particularly liked the pizzeria Verona just up the road from the metro station - not haute cuisine but friendly and welcoming staff with a good range of basic well priced food. The locals use it a lot.

Area recommendations
Next time I would probably stay nearer the centre of the city to avoid the daily commute on the metro.
Getting around
The metro is quick and efficient - trains keep to schedule and are clean and feel safe. Make sure you buy the Barcelona Card for your visit to take advantage of the unlimited travel on public transport and discounts at museums, restaurants and attractions. You can buy it before you go and get them at the Tourist information booths or main office in Placa Catalunya. It saved us loads!
What to pack
Comfy walking shoes are an essential, and a secure bag for money and valuables. We used a body belt under our clothes to make sure cash was secure at all times. There are pick-pocket warnings everywhere.
Must see
Sagrada Familia - take the lift up the tower and walk back down. The views are amazing and the walk down exciting if a bit nerve wracking! Park Guell - expect crowds but worth the effort. The aquarium is fun with a brilliant large tank exhibit that you view from a moving walkway, so you don't have to peer around people. The Magic Fountains at Montjuic - make sure you find out when they are working before you make the trek up there! We didn't.... Gothic quarter - be wary - easy to get lost and quite rough in places. Camp Nou Experience - I'm not a football fan but the stadium is amazing.
Other
Buy large bottles of water from the supermarket and refill 500 ml bottles to carry with you. Water in the cafe's costs an arm and a leg!

“great for the price”

The hotel was great for the price, air conditioning didn't work well, but the staff lent us a fan for the room. The location is a 10 minute cab ride from anywhere fun, but cabs are incredibly cheap and plentyful in Barcelona, so it's no hassle.

“Convenient and yet away from crowd”

Nice neighborhood. A modern market, a cafe, neighborhood stores, a great restaurant and the metro station all within steps. Easy. And all away from the mass of tourists but easy to get everywhere. In hindsight, a brilliant choice

“Too far”

It is too far from the downtown, and the wi-fi doesn't work.

“Great service”

We couldn't have been happier with our hotel choice. The space is very modern, clean, and comfortable. We arrived at 9 AM and were still able to check in despite the early arrival. The staff spoke English and were extremely friendly and helpful with requests such as internet service, extra blankets, taxi service, etc. The room came with two single beds pushed together, but aside from that the room was rather spacious, had a nice TV and bathroom, and had a window overlooking the street out front. The hotel is a bit too far to walk to the city's hot spots, but the metro line (El Putxet stop) is two minutes away and a five/ten-minute ride to anywhere you'd want to go. Definitely buy the T-10 pass, which gives you ten rides for less about eight Euros. The surrounding area is nice, although it was a bit empty since we went during the country's "vacation" time. There is a restaurant right next door, as well as in the lobby of the hotel. A convenience store is right across the street where you can buy snacks and drinks. We loved this place!

“Good quality but very far from Barcelona city center”

Good quality but very far from Barcelona city center. If you rent a car may be for a night you can use this hotel, otherwise "go to the city center".

“Very nice hotel. I would stay there again.”

Very nice hotel, in the city but away from the Ramblas. Quiet neighborhood. Subway only 1 1/2 block away. Only drawback is that there are NOT many choices of restaurants around and most are closed on Sunday.

Area recommendations
Barcelona is a huge city. There is so much to see in Barcelona that it is very hard to select a place/touristic attraction, DO be aware of pick pocketing in the Ramblas area... but must be in the look out any where in the city. One place we enjoyed was the top of Montjuic castle.
