Dining
La Poma - The hotel's pride and joy, La Poma restaurant is divided into two distinct sections. On the first floor level is a large room with traditional Spanish decor. A varied menu is on offer here, but the highly regarded specialties are meat dishes from the charcoal grill and the traditional sea-food paella. Also on offer is fresh fish of the day and lobster. Downstairs at street level the same menu is on offer but in a more casual, cafeteria-style setting. Both sections of the restaurant are busy with outside visitors every night and have an independent entrance from the street.

“Facilities”
We choose this hotel because it was rated so highly with great reviews. Yes, it was clean, comfortable and very convenient but there was no bar or restaurant, although on the hotel's own website they mentioned LA POMA RESTAURANT, when we enquired about this restaurant at reception we were told it was just an over spill area for the pizza/cafe next door. Although this upstairs area was used each morning for our breakfast. This cost 12 euros and was very expensive. This meant we always had to fine somewhere to eat even on our first evening when we arrived at the hotel at 8pm. There was a very small seating area near reception but the most it could hold would be 18 to 20 people. Although we were in the right location other hotels on Las Rambas which we checked out had both a bar and separtate restaurant and actually cost the same price, one was actually directly across from our hotel. Therefore, we could not recommend this hotel. If the hotel web site had been accurate we would have choosen a different hotel.
“will be going back to this hotel cant wait to stay there again”
vthis hotel was just perfect rooms beautiful and so relaxing after long day sight seeing beds just perfect hotel staff very helpful and friendly perfect location for everythink there was just 1 small issue i had all 4 star hotels i have stayed in have provided tea and coffee in this hoel you had to pay to hire the kettle so that was a dissapointment to us so when we next visit will have to take 1 with us
“Royal Ramblas, Barcelona”
The thing that I did not like about this hotel is that they always try to milk your money from every possible way. For example, the Internet access is free for only one hour with unacceptable speed so that some apps like Yahoo Messenger won't work at all. This also applies to their office room and the free Internet is only for one continuos hour with no disconnection after you logged in. The service was so so. We asked for a problem in the refrigerator in our room as it was not working and after 3 nights of our staying in the hotel the problem never solved. Breakfast was good but it was pricy in comparison to the other 4 star hotel that we stayed in Madrid. The exact same breakfast was about 40% higher in price.
“a nice hotel”
I stayed this hotel for 2 nights for my first trip in Barcelona. Though I arrived in the hotel early morning, they offered me a nice room so that I can check in and take a rest. Over all, I like its good hospitality, good service and good location.
“Great Location”
The location couldn't have been better - opening onto Las Ramblas, and less than a 5 minute walk to the Placa Catalunya, with taxis and buses all readily available. Shopping, eating all within walking distance. Recommend exploring the sidestreets off Las Ramblas in the old part of town - fascinating! Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, and amazingly multi lingual! Room well appointed and comfortable. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay!
“Great location, helpful and nice staff, fab room - very happy and would easily recommend!”
I wasn't quite sure, but the hotel total blew my expectations out of the water. I booked the Ramblas Design View room (not the basic one, the one above) and it was great - all nice hard wood inside, a view over the Ramblas but double-double glazed (i.e. two sets of windows) to keep the noise out , a motorised blind, thick curtains, comfy beds and just a really comfy place to be. The staff couldn't have been more helpful - we're English, but they appeared to speak English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and offered plenty of advice, couldn't have been nicer and helped with things like booking cabs and leaving our luggage until our taxi came to pick us up. Always felt like we could ask for help and they'd be more than happy to do so. Excellent service. We only had breakfast once but it was pretty good and not expensive. Location was perfect - right on Las Ramblas, just down from the main square and easy to get to everywhere and a 30 euro journey from the airport. Only downsides: king size bed was actually two slightly less than double beds pushed together, meaning a gap to fall through, but we very comfy otherwise; TV choice was limited; only one tea / coffee in the room per day; toilet door was a frosted glass thing at the other end of the room that offered no soundproofing - not helpful after a night on the beer and plenty of tapas! Overall, a great hotel - lovely room, great service, perfect location and not that expensive!
“Barcelona”
Had no poroblem with pick-pocketers.
“Best Location & with best view”
Very close to everything you want to reach for.

“A 2 stars hotel at the very best !”
We booked an economy double room so our expectations were quite moderate. For our basic needs we expected a least a private bathroom. The toilet could be considered private (sliding glass door) but it is in a cubicle that is smaller than an airplane bathroom. To make matters even worst the light is controlled by a motion sensor so it would turn itself off even if you don't want to. Moreover, you have to step into the main room to wash your hands or to dry yourself after taking a shower. The main attraction of this hotel is its proximity to La Ramblas so in reserving an economy room I did not expect a beautiful street view but I did not expect either that our windows would open on dark inner airway shaft. Everything is small in this hotel; the complementary toiletries are not enough for two people. The elevators, for a hotel this size, are so small and in high demand so a lot of guests have to take the stairs instead. The hotel restaurant seems to be a variation of a fast food restaurant chain. All in all, from what I saw in this hotel it is definitely not a 4 stars hotel. Maybe the others types of room are somewhat better but they are a lot more expensive. In my view, if you want to be recognized as a 4 stars hotel all rooms should have a minimum level of comfort and services. We were so displeased with our room that we contacted the front desk and the best they could do for us was to suggest an upgrade to better room for a substantial amount of money; an offer we declined.

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.
