“"ideal location"”
after reading some of the other reviews you may not want to visit this hotel but i suggest you do not believe all you read. took the kids(16 and 11) during half term,we had been a few years earlier stayed in a different hotel then, now needed one that had a family room not many of those around, unfortunately on arrival this room was not available and were put in 2 room near one another, this was ideal actually as gave the kids some independance, the location is ideal for the Ramblas and exploring what Barcelona has to offer in no way did we feel threatened by the surroundings you just need to take care as you would in any major city. the rooms although a little rough around the edges have all that you need, large bathrooms, free internet access and mini bar.the breakfast although a little highly priced is good for the kids as they can have as much or as little as they want, fruit, yogurts, croissants, cereal,if we were on our own i expect we would have found other places to try. the outside courtyard and garden area was a nice place to sit and relax especially if the weather is nice, seems in better order than when other reviews were written. the hotel staff when needed were very helpful, our flight home was late evening and the staff were more than happy to look after our cases until we were ready to leave. took a taxi from the airport not expensive and will practically drop you at the front of the hotel. i would certainly stay again
“Would not stay again”
The hotel location is the main problem, situated in an unsavoury alleyway. This means you have a running battle with pickpockets and prostitutes almost as soon as you leave the hotel. It is definatly not somewhere I would stay again, which is a real shame because the lobby and rooms were lovely. Unfortunately my door key and safe were not working, however these were fixed. The staff were ok but the location means I won't be going back.
“location is everything”
the location of the hotel wes perfect and the stuff was nice but the room was tiny! we got the family room being 3 people but there is no chance another person can fit in. half of the switches and the plugs in the room were broken and the bath wasn't fixed by this day. But as always location wins everything.
“Great hotel”
Great hotel central position and fitted out to a high quality and high tech standard, which includes free lap top in every room. I highly recommend this hotel.
“Location, Location, Location”
1st class location & nice room - staff helfull . Pitty that small maintenance issues were not resolved (towel rail hanging off wall & hole in ceiling aobve shower from former leak) which should not be left unresolved in a 4star hotel. Despite this would still recommend as an ideal base to see the city
“Great Hotel on Les Rambles”
We have been to Barcelona several times with our children. If you want to stay on Les Rambles, this is a great hotel. It is escape from the busy night life right outside the doors of this hotel. The hotel staff is friendly and the hotel is clean . The room was a very good size by Europe standards. The garden is beautiful and we had our breakfast outside in the morning. We definitely will return to this hotel. Great value. General Information - We found it best to get in official cabs with native spanish born drivers. Other cab drivers are being known to drive around town to increase the fare. This happened to us once and knowing the city we questioned the drivers route and he then drove us right to our location. We were very careful to choose our cab driver and always ask a approx. fare before getting in the cab. Also, watch your purses and pockets in Les Rambles. Overall, Barcelona is a great city and we keep going back. Enjoy!!!
“Good stay in Barcelona”
The position of this hotel was perfect, only yards form restaurants, bars, The Rambles and only a reasonable walk to the beach and other attractions. We were on the 3rd floor and looked out on to the inner courtyard so our room was extremely quiet and there was no problem sleeping. We didn't like the way we had to use a debit/credit to operate the safe, therefore we had to keep a card out of a safe place. I didn't like the fact that you couldn't lock the toilet door in the public area! We didn't even find the bar!! We would definitely use this hotel again due to it's position and general good all round pleasantry.
“Very very very dirty”
Great location, great decor, updated, gorgeous courtyard with nice lighting and furniture but so dirty that I had to go and take a cloth from my room every night just to sit down, such a shame because the courtyard was magical but full of empty bottles, garbage and overflowing ashtrays. It is obvious that the owners are not in Barcelona.
“Acceptable”
We stayed after a cruise which docked early in the morning, and we arrived at the hotel before 11AM. Unfortunately, check in time was 3PM and no rooms were ready. The clerk was very helpful in storing our bags in a secured room. When we finally checked into the room, the room was cleaned, large, and comfortable. The TV did not work, but there was a laptop in the room with free internet. The problem was the noise from the street with people screaming into the night. Can't beat the location as it is steps away from the main street, La Rambla. If you want to be in this central area, this is a great place. If you want to sleep, better look for a hotel away from La Rambla. Being in this area also means you have to pay a premium price for so so food at the restaurants. There are better and more reasonable restaurants if you are willing to walk 20 minutes. We did note some shady looking characters but did not feel un-safe with so many people around.
“Check out if room is still available”
I got to the hotel at 8:pm and couldn't get checked in until 10pm! Apparently they had some issues with a number of rooms and people with confirmed bookings were being sent to other hotels all over the area. There was only one person at the desk and it took them a lot of them to find them a room, a taxi to get there and give them directions. Fortunately for me, they had a room BUT I had booked a family room for 4 adults and they gave me a double room with an extra bed. So the choice was make do or wait for a long time for them to find me another room and at 10:30 at night I was not going to take the chance. Next morning they offered to give me another room but I had to check out of the current one and wait until 3-4pm to get a new one. Based on what I had seen the previous night, I didn't take that chance. On the positive side, the rooms were clean and nice, though small but that's usual in Europe. When I checked out I complained to the manager, who finally showed up and she agreed to give us (4 people) free breakfast for the 3 days we were there, in place of the room refund - which was a good deal. Nice location and nice place but lousy room management and check-in process. Get there on a week day, during the day, they have more staff. Evening check-ins takes hours.
