Nice hotel in the Bari Gotic

Posted 26-Jul-2015
The hotel is like an oasis in what has become a really crowded and a little seedy part of Barcelona. The lobby is lovely, calm, and it smells good. The staff is helpful, friendly and professional at the front desk. We booked a triple room for my husband, my niece and myself. I was concerned it was going to be a tight fit for 3 adults but I was pleasantly surprised. The ceilings are high and the windows are tall so it gives a sense of roominess plus there is plenty of space to walk and the beds were all very comfortable. We asked for extra pillows and towels and the staff brought them right away. The hotel has an elevator, the rooms are quiet with regard to street noise, there is plenty of hot water and pressure. There is also a very nice patio in the center of the hotel which is quiet and a good place to have breakfast or cocktails. It is essentially a very modern well run hotel in an ancient part of the city. I hadn't signed up in advance for the breakfast buffet but we wound up having it each morning and it was good. The location is convenient, about 1/2 block from La Ramblas and maybe a 10 minute walk to Placa Catalunya, and a five minute walk to Placa Reial which is a lovely place for dinner. The hotel was happy to make recommendations and they were good ones. You can purchase bus tour tickets at the front desk but they require cash and Placa Catalunya is probabaly the closest stop on these tours anyway - and you can pay by credit card there if you wish.

Awesome location, awesome staff

Posted 18-Jul-2015
Pros: Location, staff and air-conditioning.
Cons: The room we had, though very stylish and comfortable, could you some painting.
Location: Perfect central location near La Rambla
Three adults and three kids stayed in a single loft apartment with three sets of bunk beds and one queen sized bed. This hotel is perfectly located next to La Rambla and Liceau metro station. The hotel staff was wonderful. The bar and breakfast are also very good. This was a great value.

Beautiful hotel, perfect location.

Posted 13-Jul-2015
This hotel is LOVELY. The grounds are beautiful all around, and the location is just perfect. In fact, we were amazed that such a quiet, peaceful sanctuary could be found right off the very popular Las Ramblas circuit, and right on LA Calle Boqueria. I don't know if it's the soundproofing or what, but we never heard a single street noise! We racked our minds to think of any improvements needed, and it mostly comes down to check in and general lobby busyness - it is a small space, but could really benefit from a larger counter with a few more staff. But we realized how to plan accordingly, and it definitely did not impede our overall experience. Would definitely stay again!

Gem of a hotel ...

Posted 08-Jul-2015
Pros: Perfect location, cool, quiet room, wonderful courtyard in the center of the hotel.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Very close to the La Boqueria market, one of the best markets in the world. Also about a 5 block walk from the giant Botero cat sculpture, a must see!
Stayed in Barcelona for 2 days after a cruise. Walked to the hotel from the cruise dock - an easy walk. Got there at about 10 AM and were able to check in and get our room. The staff spoke very good English. The room was spacious and COOL despite a heat wave. The room was on the second floor (3rd per US) on the outside of the hotel facing a narrow street and was QUIET both nights we were there. The room was fun, the bathroom and rain shower wonderful. We had fluffy towels, a hot pot, and mini-frig. The location was a half-block off of the center of the Ramblas area, near a metro, near the La Boqueria market, with much shopping and dining nearby also. In the evening we had delicious Spanish wine from the bar and sat in the luscious, warm summer air in the hotel courtyard listening to American music via music videos projected on a flatscreen TV in the corner. We will be back to Spain and to this gem of a hotel.

Great find for our family

Posted 02-Jul-2015
We reserved the family room for ourselves and two teenaged children. There was a double bed and two twins, Murphy beds that folded up against the wall when not in use, which made the room quite spacious. Everything was extremely clean, the location was excellent, and the staff was wonderful. Some other reviewers have said it can be noisy at night -- it is on a small pedestrian side street (Carrer de la Boqueria) right off La Rambla, but our room was in the back of the building and completely silent. I also read a review that said that it was hard to find, but I did not find this to be the case. It is, as I have said, on a pedestrian side street, but only 30-40 feet off La Rambla (a major street). Our taxi driver dropped us at the end of the street and pointed out which way to go, and we arrived within 2 minutes of walking. (It is on the left side of Carrer de la Boqueria when you come off of La Rambla.) I would highly recommend it.

Family vacation

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Would've liked a room away from the elevator and stairs!
Location: Just off busy Las Ramblas, so it's close to everything
Hotel is located just off busy Ramblas, on a little winding side street and is a bit tucked away, so be careful - you may miss it! Great staff, room was clean but a bit cramped. Our particular room was located right off elevator, so was a bit noisy late at night. All in all a good value.

Great hotel, perfect location!

Posted 20-Jun-2015
Staff we're friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely modern but with a balcony, great mix of traditional features and modern design. Really close to la ramblas (but wasn't noisey!) and only a few minutes walk to liceu metro station. Great being close to gothic quarter. Excellent base to discover barcelona!

Pre Cruise hotel

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Pros: The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. it has a great central location and is ideal for a short city break
Cons: Not a lot really, the rooms are basic but clean and roomy.
Location: Close to lots of shopping, the markets stalls on La Ramblas. Lots of restaurants and bars close by with good transport links to the main tourist areas
We wanted something cheap and on La Ramblas and found this hidden little gem. The entrance is pleasing and elegant and we found the staff friendly and welcoming. There is a court yard which is an amazing place to sit with a glass of beer or wine and chat with friends. The room was basic but good for what we wanted. The bathroom was very nice indeed, large and nicely decorated. The hotel is only 100 yards from the main street in the city with lots of bars, restaurants and shop close buy to enjoy. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a stop over with a good city location.

Wonderful weekend in Barcelona

Posted 11-Jun-2015
Perfect hotel for a quick weekend in Barcelona. It is in an excellent location for public transit or walking to the local sites. The hotel staff was always professional, courteous, and efficient. (... and they speak English). Want a wake- up call, direction to entertainment, or a cab at the curb? They have it done in a flash. Afte a long day of walking you can't beat the awesome rain shower in your room and then drinks in the comfortable courtyard. It's a 5 star hotel with a 3 star price. We can't wait to come back.
