Floors in light wood, walls in broken white and careful lighting provide warmth and brightness. “OK, clean, great location, very hard bed”

The Park Hotel was OK. It was clean, and nicely designed, but the bed was rock-hard. It gave me lower back pain. Do not stay here unless you like a very firm mattress. I was pleased with the breakfast offerings and the lovely breakfast room with nice views. The staff was not overly helpful, but generally friendly. I loved the hotel's non-touristy location in the El Born section of town, with it's gothic charm, winding streets, and hip bars and cafes. On my next trip to Barcelona, I will stay in El Born, but try a different hotel, maybe Banys Oriental.

“NOISY!”

Overall the hotel is not too bad, EXCEPT that half of the rooms face onto an alley that has table for a bar and is extremely noisy until after 2 am. If you want to sleep, find another hotel.

“Great location”

I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would definitely stay there again. The location was spot on as we were on the edge of the Old Town and only a 10-15 minute walk to the beach.

“Great location.”

The hotel room was clean. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location. It is in Born, which is near the beach but also walkable to Las Ramblas and Born's own awesome restuarants and shops. During the summer months, the location does not get better than this. In less than 15 minutes (walking) you can be on Las Ramblas. In less than 5 minutes (walking), you can be at the Barceloneta metro. The only knocks on this hotel are its small rooms (you get what you pay for) and the thin walls. But overall the hotel is well-maintained and the rooms are clean.

“Great hotel and great location”

This little hotel was a great place to stay in Barcelona. Convenient location to some great shopping as well as the beach. Free WiFi was an added bonus. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay there again if I'm in Barcelona.

“Very good for a short visit.”

This is a good hotel for a 2-3 day visit to Barcelona if you are not interested in spending a lot of time in your rooms and if you are not expecting luxurious hotel facilities like spa, pool or gym. Perfectly located across the road of Estacion de Francia and close to beach, Barceloneta, Las Ramblas and Barrio Gotico, it is a perfect "base camp" to explore Barcelona. Rooms were small, somewhat dated but clean, staff was friendly and helpful and the little bar on the ground floor was perfect for a quick drink when returning to your hotel before taking off for dinner. I would go back.

“ok, for a European hotel - but nothing like an American hotel!!!”

This hotel was ok for a European hotel. It was very small, and the bathroom facilities in Spain are not the same standard that we enjoy here in America. Even though it is November, our hotel room was HOT. We asked about it at the front desk, and they told us that the whole hotel had already been set for 'heat' (instead of air conditioning). They just recommended that we open the window. We tried that, but there was a lot of street noise.....so we closed the window and sweated!

Area recommendations

The area that the Park was in, was a good neighborhood for tourists. On the weekends, they had a sidewalk "craft sale".....lots of sourvenirs to take home!

Other

I recommend brushing up on your Spanish before you go. Most of the people we were in contact with, spoke NO English!

“Park Hotel Barcelona - great location”

We stayed for 6 days and had a great time. Park Hotel is in a great location in the La Ribera area - every night we ate at a different place, never further than 3 mins walk from the hotel. Of course, being so close to the bars and restaurants did mean that we could hear them in our hotel room, but not to the extent that it disturbed us. The room wasn't huge, but as we were in Barcelona to explore the city that wasn't an issue as we didn't spend a large amount of time in it. Hotel staff were all lovely - friendly and very helpful. Would definately recommend as a city-break hotel.

Get a Barcelona Card for unlimited public transport, discounted entry to most museums and places, and free entry to some!

“Good value for money in an otherwise expensive location”

This is a modest hotel in an excellent location opposite the train station and just a short walk from the Gothic Quarter. Room was small but clean. Very friendly staff who spoke good English. Excellent choice at buffet breakfast. Reasonable bar prices.

Area recommendations

Beach at Barceloneta is much improved over the years with good facilities nearby but €17 to hire 2 sunbeds and an umbrella for the day. An excellent restaurant called Longa de Tapas nearby serving very high end tapas at reasonable prices.
