“A few niggles”
The hotel looked good and had good facilities, but we experienced a few problems. It took a long time to get any hot water and the shower never really ran hot. Room service was very slow (40 minutes for a cup of tea). A booking for a taxi got lost in the system - twice. Food in the restaurant arrived only lukewarm. The hotel needs to pay much more attention to details like these to justify its 5 star rating.
“Contemporary. expensive, safe and convenient to buses”
Except for one blond receptionist who made us wait for 4 hours for access to our room (after no sleep all night on the plane from Atlanta, GA), our stay was wonderful. The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable but access to any sight seeing must be by bus, taxi or rented vehicle. The food in the hotel very good but expensive with no nearby restaurants, although access to the bus line is right next door to the Hotel. The area is clean and safe with a (park like) area in front of the Hotel with a beautiful view of the cruise ships coming in to the port. If arriving early (before 3 PM) be assured when making your reservation that you can check into your room upon arrival.
“Leslie Dweck”
We had wonderful, very relaxing, weekend break staying at the Miramar Hotel Barcilona. The staff were superb, bending over backwards to be of help in a very pleasant way. The common parts are stylish with a modern elegance, and the rooms extremely comfortable, generously proportioned, with excellent balconies enjoying superb views. The hotel is set in large gardens incorporating a very stylish swimming pool and superb tranquil views over the city that all make the Miramar a unique Barcelona Hotel that delivers an atmosphere the others cannot match. We highly recommend this hotel.
“Very Impressed!”
My husband and I stayed at the Miramar for four days prior to our cruise and two days after. This modern-style hotel is clean, comfortable, and relaxing! The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Rose sat with us and highlighted areas to visit on a map of Barcelona. Since we arrived so early in the day both times, our room was understandably not ready. However, we were pampered with spa services, including showers, hot tub, pool, and a locker in the changing room. Once in our room, we were happy to find at least one familiar two-prong outlet for charging our computer. Every room has a huge tub and shower as well. The hotel is located atop Montjuic, which provides a beautiful view of the city. It is a quiet location, especially in the evening, which gave us an opportunity to relax after a long day of touring. Because of its views, it is a stop on the Hop On/Hop Off Bus which circles the city and stops at all of the area's attractions. We took a two-day pass both stays and took advantage of the many stops: La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Picasso Museum, Fundacio de Joan Miro, the beach at Barceloneta, Park Guell, Poble Espanyol, etc. Most of the people involved in the tourist industry, such as the hotel staff and tour bus personnel, speak English. The only drawback to staying at this hotel is also one of its appealing features. It is located far from shops, restaurants, stores, which makes it difficult to eat inexpensively. However, the food at the hotel is excellent!
“Impressive Location and Views”
This is a great place with modern, clean rooms and superb service. The view from the balcony was very impressive, and we were in a standard room, no upgrades!
“Great views and usually quiet.”
The Hotel is located on a hilltop that overlooks the Cruise terminal (which is why we stayed there). The short walk to town is up and down a very steep hill but worth it. The food at the Hotel was very expensive so we made several trips down the hill. The Hotel staff guessed way low on the cab fare to the Cruise terminal. Expect about 15-20 euros, depending on the number of bags and passengers. The hotel said "about 5 euro". Guess they don't know about the port tax. We had one night where a large wedding reception was held. Things don't start up until about 10 PM and this group kept the band playing until 2:30 AM. All in all, I would stay there again.
“Hotel Miramar - Plus and Minus”
Stayed there twice a week apart. Interesting place to stay. Up the hill on Montjuic with a fantastic view of the Med. Bar is in front of hotel looking out over the water. Near the cable car to the beach and parks and Olympic stadiums and museum. Can be a bit remote from La Rambla/in town area because it is up the hill. Relatively small hotel and in nice shape. Housekeeping was inconsistent. On our second stay, room was not properly cleaned either day. Hotel hosts a lot of wedding/receptions/special events because of location, which can cause common facilities to be closed without much notice. Front desk was helpful.
“Pre-Cruise Hotel”
We got in to Barcelona the day before our cruise. We were looking for somewhere close to the port, but away from the busy Las Ramblas. This hotel was a perfect fit! The staff was very helpful. The reception staff spoke excellent English, and was happy to provide maps and directions to the area's attractions. Our only complaint was that although the Expedia site said check-in was at noon, our room was not ready until 1:45 pm. After traveling over-night from the US, we were really looking forward to a nap...Despite this, we would definitely stay again!
“just fantastic! take with sea view balcony”
just amazing! stayed for romantic weekend. would surely stay there every time coming to Barcelona
“very good”
it is located in a hill near the port, ramblas and the old "Barrion Gotico". Service is good even they charge too much for breakfast.
