Posted 05-Oct-2014
Pros: Close to everything.. Metro, Restaurants, Sights..
Location: Location is convenient . The hotel can be hard to find because it is located between 2 buildings on and not everybody knows the street name.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Room is clean. The location is very convenient B.! 3 blocks to the closest metro (Universitat station) where you can catch the train to Magic Fountain, Arc de Triomphe and Familia Sagrada; 10 minutes walk to/from Plaza Catalunya, Gothic. I will stay again at this hotel.

Avoid - similar to a hostel more so than a hotel

Posted 30-Aug-2014
Pros: Location only
Cons: everything!
Location: good location
I stayed here last week after booking a last minute getaway, what a disappointment! I'll start with the pros: The main if not only redeeming feature was the location, other than that we arrived early and were able to check in straight away. The cons however are lengthy: 1 of the 2 lights over the bed didn't work which is poor as there are no ceiling lights. No do not disturb sign in our room. The mattress was very firm, similar to sleeping on the floor. I booked a double room but we had two singles that were pushed together, this was not a zip and link bed and the beds were not level. Although it is the 21st century you still are required to pay for slow WiFi €3 - 1 hour €6 - 12 hours. 2 very thin pillows on the bed no extras. You could hear the conversations of everyone in the rooms next door/ corridor clearly. Bathroom fan was very loud, somewhat similar to a steam train. Couldn't be turned off. the TV in the room was a very old small CRT with a device attached to the top with a red light on which wouldn't switch off. Bed came with two single blankets, though it was sold as a double. No basin plug or bath plug, no bathroom lock. we put our clothes in the wardrobe which gave them a very unpleasant smell! Clothes that were brand new and never worn were tainted, so we needed to buy an odour neutralising spray just to be able to wear them. No peephole on door. No iron/board or kettle. Live-in guests smoked in the narrow corridors. Definitely one to avoid. Wouldn't return.

Hotel Ronda - website is misleading

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: The staff were pleasant
Cons: Everything!
Based on the website, I booked this hotel, anticipating the clean spacious, even pretty venue. However, my friend and I were extremely disappointed when we arrived to find a tiny hotel, with tiny lifts that took you up to cramped and creepy floors and small rooms. We did not feel safe as two women travelling to this exotic but notoriously bad-for-thefts/stealing city, to be accommodated in this hotel. The rooms smelt. The bathroom and toilet was mildewy and dirty. The terrace (overlooking someone's ?bedroom) was unsecured by a door that we had to jimmy shut. The gorgeous-looking accommodation on the website disappeared very quickly, to leave us with a hotel we did not want to stay in, so we did not! We instead spent the time after check-in looking for alternative accommodation, and only returned for our things. The staff were nice enough, but not sufficient for us to stay. I dread to think what breakfast would have been like. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE WEBSITE PICTURES! Unless you are 19 and used to and/or want to stay in a hostel, Hotel Ronda misleads you, not only with its website but its name - hotel it ain't!

Free wifi please it's the 21st century! Everything in the hotel is for a charge: breakfast, wifi, even the safe box. The best part was its location.

Horrible stay.

Posted 09-Jun-2014
The horrible thing is that it is not sound proof at all. I didn't even need an alarm. Anyone talks in the hall way can wake you up. All the motels and inns I stayed so far is better than this. I would rather prefer a youth hostel even though there might someone snoring. I could quite clearly hear what language my neighbors are speaking. If not for the noise, I would give a mediocre rank to this hotel. Wifi is not free. I had to go to coffee shop for free wifi to avoid expensive wifi rate provided by the hotel. 12" TV didn't even work, although I didn't plan to watch it that much. No fridge. I really wanted to buy some bear in the supermarket and put it in the fridge, drink it whenever I want. Now some of the good things. Free breakfast was above average. There was more than just bread and coffee. I lived on the top floor, so I had a nice big balcony which was nice. Location is good too. It is near the downtown. If you don't plan to park a rental car, it is located at a convenient place. On the whole, because of the noise, all the good things don't matter anymore. The noise was that bad.

Friendly hotel, in a convenient location

Posted 08-Jun-2014
Pros: It was our little relaxing haven when we felt we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Cons: If I could say anything it would be to have a more up to date tv with a better satellite connection. But that's being picky.
Location: It's located near las ramblas, the beach and is about a thirty minute walk from Estacio del Nord, which is extremely convenient.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and they made us feel extremely welcome. Our room was a nice size with everything we needed, it was clean and cool thanks to the air con.

Busy hotel in great location

Posted 30-Apr-2014
Pros: Food Location Staff
Cons: Beds a little wider and more comfortable.
Location: Very close to the old town and walking distance to La Rambla. Some lovely bars and restaurants nearby and the museum of contemporary arts.
We had a lovely holiday at Hotel Ronda. It was busy so everything took a little longer but once we were checked in it was trouble-free. The location is superb, the staff are (understandably) busy but everyone I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was varied and of fine quality. If I had to make a complaint it would be that the beds were narrow and a bit uncomfortable and the Wifi and Internet access (on the PC) was overpriced (3 Euro for an hour). However, for the price it was brilliant!
