“Will go back to the same Hotel”

All Excellent for 3 star Hotel..I did visit 4 star Hotel in the area and the only difference I noticed was the kettle in the room. However, I do recommend that they improve the quality of the breakfast to match the price. I couldn't enjoy the morning essential cup of teas as it tested of Coffee and cleaning detergent. That was substituted by plenty of cafes around the Gothic part of town with excellent tea and sandwiches for less than 10 Euros.

“Enjoyable stay!”

We stayed at the Regencia Colon for four nights, and were very comfortable. I loved the cheery decor--yellow with floral tiles. The staff was extremely helpful with directions and getting us concert tickets. The location in the pedestrian Barrio Gotico was very convenient and central.

Area recommendations
I would recommend the Barrio Gotico because it is the historic area. It is completely walkable, and filled with interesting churches and narrow winding streets. It is also within walking distance of the Ramblas.
Events and shows
Try to go to a concert at the Palau Nacional de Musica, located in the Barrio Gotico (historic district). The architecture and decor is Art Nouveau, and it is a beautiful venue in which to enjoy a performance.

“Great Location, Friendly & Helpful staff”

Couldn't have picked a better location. The room was comfortable, clean, albeit a little dated. It's also on the noisy side, but all in all, a great choice.

“Great central location!”

The personnel at front desk were great. They gave us good recommedations of various resturants. The location of the hotel was great because you are close to bus lines, the subway and trains. My favorite front desk person located a specialty store for me. It's an old, well respected button and trim store, located just four blocks from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel in a heart beat.

“Great location with some drawbacks.”

This hotel is in a great location for shopping in the side streets leading into the Ramblas and was next to the Cathedral square. There were lots of outdoor cafes and bars close by so the location was great. The hotel: it is a sister to the more upscale Colon Hotel next door. If you want ice, you go to the bar at the hotel next door and they give you a mixing bowl full of ice. The room and bath were ok and clean and the air conditioning worked great. The two main drawbacks were the beds were extra firm and the windows did not insulate from outside noises and cars and motorcycles reverberated as they came down the narrow streets. The front desk personnel were helpful but if you have a hard time sleeping you need a quieter place.

Area recommendations
This hotel is in the Gothic area and it is a great area. A somewhat more modern hotel would be nice in this area but for the price it was not bad.

“Fantastic location”

Location was great, right opposite the Cathedral and within walking distance of las ramblas and the airport bus stop. Staff were really friendly. Room was very nice, only problem was that the plug hole was blocked in the shower so it kept overflowing and flooding the bathroom! But apart from that it was really good.

“Will stay here again...for sure.”

This hotel was AWESOME!!! The staff was super friendly and informative. The rooms were clean. The water pressure was outstanding. You can't beat the location because it is right in the middle of everything without being loud. A short walk to Las Ramblas, the metro, cafes, food...EVERYTHING!! The only thing that would make this hotel perfect was if they offered free WiFi. Other than that, I will be staying here again for sure!! I didn't have the need for anything fancier because most of my time was spent outside the hotel. Why pay for more bells and whistles? This hotel was just fine. Can't wait to visit Barcelona again.

“Great location, lovely quality”

Just off the old cathedral square. Impeccable condition. Helpful staff. Little bit noisy at night due to people staying up late using the square and the cleansing lorries going by (windows not double glazed) but use earplugs and it's not a problem.

Area recommendations
Recommend the city beaches/waterfront. Poblenou is an authentic small neighbourhood to visit. La Ribera also really nice. Watch our for southern end of El Raval - bit seedy. Queues for Gaudi monuments ridiculous even midweek in March so go early (or late) in day.

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas.
