Great location and good value

Posted 22-Jul-2014
Pros: The location was excellent for the waterfront, the rooms were fine and the breakfast was good.
Cons: Looks a little unloved from the outside when you first get there.
Location: Great waterfront promenade, beach side restaurants and close to the sea.
Chose this as could not get into the AC Gava and to be honest, the room was larger yet cheaper then our friends' in the other hotel. Aircon remote control was not great but manual button worked fine. Beds were comfortable, plenty of room in the wardrobes, bathroom did the job and there was supply of plenty of things if you forgot! Our room on the first floor looked over the street but it was not noisy. All had a good night's sleep. There was a small balcony too so great for drying clothes on the chair back. I would recommend the breakfast. it is good value and plenty of it. The hotel is right on the beach, with volley ball nets nearby and there is a promenade that goes for miles. We saw a flamenco showcase there and about a mile north there is an excellent restaurant. I would recommend using the train from the airport and definitely into Barcelona. It is cheap and only takes 20mins. We tried the bus but gave up as it went nowhere near where we expected..

Combing a beach and city break

Posted 21-Jul-2014
A nice hotel located right by the beach; walk out the back gate and you are on the beach. About a hundred or so paces from the hotel is a bus stop for a bus that takes you to the centre of the city - an hour's ride. Alternatively walk for 10-15 mins and take a train - a 30 min ride; bug a T-10 ticket and it equates to about a euro per person each way - great value for money. Plenty of restaurants along the main strip and beyond, so a good location. From the beach (which is big and popular with locals) the hotel looks a little tired but it is clean and efficiently run. All the staff were very helpful and the Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was good and there were sunbeds for everyone. I senss it is a popular venue for wedding receptions.

Apartments close to the beach

Posted 31-May-2014
Pros: Free internet wifi / computer, apartment facilities (basic but enough), great location.
Cons: Heat the pool a little?
Location: Right on beach at Casteldefels, loads of restaurants nearby + large grocery store, 10 min walk to Castdefels Playa station for trains into Barcelona.
We thought we were staying in hotel but were put in apartment, which was fine. The hotel is directly on the beach and does a great help-yourself all-you-can-eat breakfast; apartment is not on the beachfront, but minutes away. Suited us perfectly - small family with friends to visit in Barcelona.

Wonderful staff, brilliant location.

I spent my first night there in room 212..directly under the hot water system...sounded like a monster in the roof, also my safe didnt have any instructions and there was only one electricity socket in the bathroom. I then asked to be moved and without any hesitation one of the lovely people on reception moved us to a much bigger room with a fantastic outlook on the beach and all was well. This hotel is made by the location and by the staff, who where all so welcoming and helpful. the decor is a bit weary but is fine and it was good value for money, if it was given a make over then I probably couldnt have afforded it! I would definitely go back. A kettle would have been nice but maybe that's just not what happens on the continent!

nice location

Posted 10-May-2014
Pros: In walking distance of the large beach and a lovely relaxing pool with sun loungers
Cons: It would have been nice if the hotel did food, also have different choice of languges on the Tv which surprised me as it is a Four star.
Location: Plenty of restaurants and snack bars just a few steps away.
I was pleased to find this hotel lived up to my expectations. The sea view room was just as described, a proper sea view. The fact that it is only ten minutes from the airport was a real bonus especially as we could fly from Heathrow.

Hotel Playafels

Great hotel, location, staff, sea view room & breakfast. Only quibble was our patio doors to balcony didn't lock at top & bed was very creaky. Saying that: will definitely book again!

Very nice relaxing hotel

Posted 30-Apr-2014
Cons: Tidy the roof over the dining room up
Great to be at the beach and close to Barcelona. Easy transport links. Loads to do on the beach: volley ball, water sports, cycling etc., five mile long promenade.
