“A perfect haven in the centre of a busy and bustling Barcelona”

This was our second stay at the MurMuri - we had been delighted the first time round, however as often happens expected that our second visit might not live up to the same standards. How wrong we were....same excellent service, quality, cleanliness and comfort of our room was faultless. For us ideally located - situated in the elegant Ramblas de Catalunya but close enough to walk into the busier parts of Barcelona. Plenty of goof cafes, bars and restaurants in the surrounding areas. Have already booked to go back in March!!

“Super boutique”

Liked very much the location and the boutique nature of the hotel. Service of a very high quality and personable nature. Rooms a tad small for price but would happily return.

Area recommendations
This neighborhood very central but on a relatively quiet street with lots of outdoor dining options.

“excellent in Barcelona”

The entire hotel front desk spoke English. They couldn't have been more helpful. T hey got out maps and showed us exactly where to go.

Area recommendations
Cafes in front of the hotel were great. Best way to see the city is the tour bus. Taking the aerobus to the airport very inexpensive 5,30 E

“Very impressed.”

I researched for a month to find a good hotel in Barcelona and the Murmuri turned out to be the best. I stayed 4 nights there. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff speaks very good English and were polite and accommodating. The location is good. Rambla de Catalunya has a variety of shops and tapas restaurants (would recommend Taller de Tapas and Cachitos). If you fly into Barcelona, I'd highly recommend the Aerobus. It's 5.30 Euros and takes you directly to Placa Catalunya. From there it's about a 10 block walk up Rambla Catalunya to the hotel. Not bad if the weather is nice. This is definitely going to be my hotel whenever I'm in Barcelona.

“Boutique Hotel in a Great Central Location”

Nice hotel. Clean, modern rooms, although they are on the smaller side. Perfect central location. Easy to walk to take the metro/ferocarril around the city to get wherever you want. Would recommend.

“Great location, good service, comfortable room”

Lovely small hotel in great location. Rooms are small but comfortable and very modern--wonderful bathroom. Service was excellent--front desk staff remembered us, acknowledged us, were helpful in obtaining reservations, providing directions, etc. The only downsides were spots in the white carpeting and on the white bench in the room, and a lot of smoke in the evening when you enter the lobby. Also, the cost of internet is high.

“Great stay, great city.”

Lovely boutique hotel in a great neighborhood. Our room was small but well decorated.Helpful front desk personnel. Lots of restaurants and shops in the neighborhood.15 minute walk to the old town.

“Excellent honeymoon stay”

The service at Hotel Murmuri was exceptional. From the pre-planning and check-in, to restaurant recommendations and room service, the staff was very helpful and made our stay here very relaxing and stress-free. The location is just a few blocks from the main part of La Rambla as well as just a block away from major shopping areas and tourist spots.

Area recommendations
La Rambla was interesting to see, but got old pretty quickly. I would like to stay closer to the beach next time, or perhaps in El Born or a less commercial area to get a better feel for the culture of the city.

“Highly recommended - completely satisfied”

We highly recommend Hotel Murmuri. It is an excellent hotel in a great location. The people who work at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. There is no concierge, but all of the front desk staff can help you pick restaurants and direct you to sights. The hotel is one block from Casa Milla (also known as La Pedrera), one of Gaudi's architectural masterpieces. It is in the L'Eixample neighborhood, the Modernista area, which has many beautiful buildings and is much nicer and less touristy than the Las Ramblas area.

Dining
Half a block from the hotel is Mauri, a lovely breakfast/lunch place. A few blocks south is Taller de Tapas, an excellent and reasonably priced tapas restaurant. (There is another branch in the Barri Gotic, but it's a bit hard to find.) We asked the hotel staff for a recommendation of a restaurant to get paella, and they steered us to La Gavina, on the waterfront. This is a terrific place to get paella and seafood dishes. It's also a nice looking restaurant with a good view of the marina.
Other
Be prepared: many of the service people in Barcelona restaurants and stores can be abrupt, and even rude. It's similar to the behavior you get in Paris. We were surprised by this. We found out later that Barcelonans have a reputation throughout Spain for being unfriendly. Also, the current bad economy may have something to do with their grumpiness. That said, Barcelona is a "must see" city, especially for the architecture and food/wine. Just be prepared.

“Quiet, very comfortable, modern, many thoughtful amenities.”

The Murmuri is in a fashionable shopping and dining area, busy and interesting, about 8 blocks from La Rambla which is much noisier. The hotel itself is quiet inside, with thoughtful features such as ambient lighting that can be controlled in zones; very clean rooms and beautifully appointed modern bathrooms with fabulous overhead rain showers; "green" energy-saving features such as hallway lights that are off until you get off the glass elevator, and they turn on to greet you as you turn the corner to your room; a bar/lounge that is comfortable--but they sell cigars, and if you want a smoke-free space, it's not a great place to be. Other parts of the hotel are non-smoking. We loved the atmosphere and the location, and would go back.

Area recommendations
The Gothic and Born areas nearby were wonderful, with the big Cathedral, the Sagrada Familia, the incredible Music palace, Picasso Museum, and art and design on every street and corner. Plus loads of little shops to explore down some of the interesting and winding streets. Just a few blocks away is La Rambla, a huge avenue for walking, with tons of shops, the boqueria (enormous market that is fun to explore), and lots of carnival-like people on display. Just look out for pickpockets. Read menus and explore any tapas place or restaurant that looks inviting. Rioja wines are very good and inexpensive! Take the metro...it's really fast and easy.
