“Great hotel in heart of Barcelona”
Wonderful hotel great location perfect, great price You cant beat it. Across from bus terminal to airport
“Cheap and Cheerful but Great Location”
Hotel Monegal is a very basic hotel but all you really need when you'll be out sightseeing most of the time. Although the room was simply furnished and quite dated, it was clean and well presented. The location couldn't have been any better at the top of Las Ramblas. There was a bit of noise at night but we were so tired we didn't even notice it. Bring your earplugs though if you're sensitive to noise! The staff were always friendly and helpful.
“Would Definitely Recommend! Not luxury, just right, though.”
This hotel has some great features: 1. Location - located on Plaza Catalunya - right on the north side of Las Ramblas. Great location! This is where all the tourists go. Many, many people. You can take the metro from the airport right up to the doorsteps of hotel. Or, bus from airport and you will need to walk about 1/2 mile. Returning to airport, at Plaza Catalunya, you can take the Aerobus for cheap, and as early as 5:30 am. The Hop on/ Hop off buses (blue and red lines) are right on Plaza Catalunya. Hard Rock, McDonalds, BK, Tapas bars, tourist shops. . . everything at your fingertips. Noisy. This is a city that doesn't sleep. Really. Bring ear plugs if you like the windows open, lol. 2. View - great view. Room 420 has a high ceiling, ample bathroom, three windows that open to the plaza. Warm enough in winter. 3. Service - Basic. They provide a safe in the room for 3 Euros per day. They will hold a bag for you if you arrive early and lent us a hairdryer. Recommended a great Flamenco Show. For a two star hotel, not bad. 4. It's an old building with a small elevator that can carry 3 people at a time. Very European. There are no amenities. Acceptable for a 2 star hotel. 5. Informed us to be cautious in the area. Many ATM's and Currency Exchange Offices. Take cash/Debit Card with you. Most places did not take credit cards, and if they did, they required a Passport. It is for our protection. NOTE: THIS IS A TWO STAR HOTEL, NOT THE RITZ. GREAT VALUE.
“great location”
almost everything in walking distance and hotel is right at metro stop. i had breakfast included which was cereal fruit bread and adequate. single room very small and would be worth paying a bit extra for double if you want more comfort.
“Good times in Barcelona”
All good. Totally what I expected. Entrance is a little hard to spot, it's next to the McDonalds.
“Was not happy with hotel”
Spent 5 nights at the hotel. On first everning I complained about a bathtub drain, water didn't come out at all and looks like it was coming in. Nothing was fixed, I complain second day. I am not a conflict person, so I just tried to take a shower really quick. It is old building and there is a draught (we stay in December). Not comfortable matresses, very thin old covers as well as furniture. And keep in mind it is always nosy 24/7, as it oversees Placa and La Ramblas. It is overall cheap hotel, so I guess the room condition is related to the price. Next time I will choose better hotel.
“Location excellent, although La Rambla is a Circus”
The hotel is very conveniently located, at Placa Catalunya. They do a very good job of monitoring who enters the hotel and elevators to the rooms. The staff are always available at the desk, in order to provide entry to the hotel during off-hours. They are also very professional and friendly.
“Not a good hotel.”
Despite a very good location dividing the old town with the "new" as it were, and a very courteous staff, this is not a particularly good hotel. For various reasons, I stayed in three different rooms, all interior, that felt like cells. They were relatively quiet, but dark and unclean, shoddy attention to details. Worth all two stars, only stay for a very good rate and then for a short time!
“In the middle of action”
the hotel is situated at the heart of all the action in Barcelona.
“Excellent Hotel and location”
The hotel has a great location in the middle of the interesting parts. The rooms are small but clean, and all the necessary items can be found in this hotel. The reception was so helpful, they gave us maps, touristic offers, gave us recommendations and excellent tips. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
