Dining

Restaurant - The hotel restaurant has a dome in the center of the ceiling with tiny pinprick lights creating a night sky effect. Along one wall is a yellow and blue stained glass window, continuing the sun and sea theme of the hotel. Seating 60, it serves buffet breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner. The à la carte menu is seasonal Mediterranean and includes dishes such as Medallones de Rape (Monkfish medallions).

Piano Bar - The Piano Bar is situated between the main lobby and the restaurant. The main body of the room is softly lit and has a series of small round tables, each surrounded by four dark pink armchairs. To one side is a brighter seating area, decorated with large original artworks in the style of Cezanne, and furnished with sofas. During the day, light streams in through a glass ceiling, stained in bold primary covers. The bar serves drinks and light snacks from 7 AM - midnight. The pianist performs every night from 8 PM - midnight.

“Both great location and noise ;)”

Medium class hotel with a great location (walking distance to everything in the downtown). However it is quite loud in the neighbourhood due to the traffic.

“Served our small group very well”

We wanted 4 rooms for a pre-cruise stay in convenient location for sight seeing. Noted some favourable comments about hotel and went with it. Very pleased we did as nicely placed for Ramblas, Cathedral and hop on bus. All 4 couples agree it was an excellent choice and would return without hesitation. Breakfast on Sunday very busy and not worth money. Staff freindly and helpful. Room good size and very clean - also quiet as we asked for a room at the back. Seemed good value compared with other hotels.

“Nice Hotel”

The location of this hotel and it's close proximity to Placa de Catalunya was what made our stay so great! We were only around the corner from all the things we wanted to see and easy access to public transportation. The service was ok, nothing spectacular, but the staff did speak English and were pleasant enough. The room was bare bones but clean and quiet. We were surprised that no washcloths or toiletries were provided except bath wash and shampoo. The bar area was very quiet, but when we asked at the front desk for a bartender they obliged with a very nice person. Prices were good too.

Getting there
Getting to the hotel from Terminal A at the airport was super easy. We took the Aerobus for 5.10 Euro each and after a 30 minute ride, arrived at Place de Catalunya. The hotel was one block Southeast.

“Preferred by us every time”

Suits us fine,we have been here a few times and is very central. Ramblas is just out the door, turn left and walk down the street,to the main square (where you can get the airport bus) Hard Rock is along here to,so is all the main attractions(shops). You can get the tours from there to.Less than 5mins walk away. Rooms are comfortable and well kept. We have NO COMPLAINTS.Did not eat in the hotel as plenty of choice elsewhere and cheaper. We were unable to find semi-skimmed milk in Barcelona, but Carrefore do whole milk, take a travel kettle.Visit the market, just by Ramblas you can get lovely fresh fruit smoothies, fruit salads etc for next to nothing. Busy city as you would expect and noisy but once you shut your windows for the night you can't hear the noise. We had a balcony, very nice for me as I smoke and the husband doesn't,this was allocated to us,so we didn't have to pay extra. asked for 2 extra pillows on arrival, which were promptly delivered.Speedy check-in and check-out.No hassel at all,the room was cleaned daily. The staff were pleasant and spoke good English. All in all good place to stay, not bad price either.

“Pleasant Stay in Barcelona”

This is a very nice hotel with extremely pleasant and helpful staff. It is clean and comfortable and is conveniently situated on the edge of the Gothic Quarter, just around the corner from the Placa de Catalunya and a metro station is just across the road. (The airport bus arrives and leaves from the side of the Placa de Catalunya nearest to the hotel.) The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the hustle and bustle but quiet enough for us to get a good night's sleep. There is access to WiFi in the foyer and bar areas. We didn't take breakfast as we thought it was a bit expensive. We really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations
A visit to the Sagrada Familia is an absolute must and the cathedral in the Gothic Quarter is also well worth visiting. If you like history we found the Museum d'Historia de Catalunya very interesting and informative. The Dali museum is also good.

“Great location”

Check in at hotel was very quick. The staff were friendly and helpful and had all the correct details of our stay. The hotel is always very clean and tidy. Rooms bright, clean and comfortable. Great location for shops and restaurants. Your very own pianist in the lounge bar - a bit quiet but very relaxing for a nightcap. We are now regulars at this hotel - this is our third visitand definately not our last!.

“Excellent choice”

Newly remodeled with modern decor, good sized room, beds very comfortable, large bathroom, quiet for such a bustling city. Bars and restaurants in easy walking distance (within 7-8 blocks). Very close to subway station (2 blocks) and 5 or 6 blocks from Las Ramblas and other tourist sights, including Palau de la Musica Catalana, the Cathedral, and Palau Reial with Roman ruins excavated. Definitely would stay again.

We loved the Bari Gotic medieval neighborhood adjacent to the hotel. Narrow, winding streets with delightful hidden restaurants and shops.

“Great location; reasonably priced”

Hotel was in a great location - just a few blocks from Las Ramblas, metro, shopping, etc. Also, there is a shuttle that's run a few blocks away from the hotel that takes you to and from the airport and is quick and significantly cheaper than taking a taxi, as there is no metro that runs to the airport.

“The great location outweighs the average quality”

The Mont Blanc is in an excellent location. Perfect for visiting Barcelona. The hotel staff were well meaning and helpful but always looked stressed and rarely smiled. They were apologetic about some of the hotel's shortcomings, almost embarrassed. For example, the in room safe could only be used by accessing a key from reception which cost an additional 5Euros per day! The airconditionning was severely lacking. Having said that, it was so hot during our stay that I was grateful for any air movement! The swimming pool is for dipping rather than swimming is so small. Thanks to Expedia's great deal, the rate paid fairly reflected the true calibre of the hotel. I would not have paid their rate card fees.

Area recommendations
Definitely take the red and blue bus routes to take a great view of the City. La Rambla, the small streets around and the marvellous shopping. My teenage daughter loved it. The art galleries. The art in every way. A wonderful City, one of my favourite places in the world.
When to go
August is very very hot. May is probably best, but have enjoyed in March too. There is so much to do.

“Great Location”

The carpets in the hotel need updating and it would be nice to have TV that had at least one english channel. The Hotel is in a great location to walk to everything. LaRamblas is only 2 streets over very close to the pissaco museum and other great sites. Never ate in the restraunt on site so not sure if its any good. Was told to watch out for pickpockets but never saw any or had any trouble with them. Very safe city with plenty of police around, felt safe to walk around at night . The staff was great and all could speak english. I can't wait to go back to Barcelona would most definitely stay at this hotel again.
