“Clean and Close to attractions”

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel so very much. The rooms were spacious and clean...The bathroom was clean and roomy. I was comfortable in my room and the staff was woderful. Very, very attentive...The location is great. Parallel stree in close to the port, and 5-6 blocks away from La Rambla. I actually walked to La Rambla every day. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Located next to the Paral-lel Metro Station, close to theaters and restaurants. Walking distance to Columbus monument, and to the Ramblas. Free wi-fi in rooms.

Fantastic location next to the Metro, very high quality hotel, far better than we had expected given the reasoonable room rates. The rooms were very clean & with good facilities (the bedroom safe was a good feature). The hotel staff on the reception desk were very helpful & gave us some good local advice for shopping etc. very impressed !!

“Very comfortable, clean and well located”

The room was very spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and had everything that was needed. Everything was very clean. The only thing that was lacking was the poor lighting and no natural daylight as the windows were opaque, although this was because there was no view. Also, although it says the rooms are soundproof you can hear other occupants, especially when they use the bathroom. Overall though I would definitely recommend the hotel as it was comfortable and located perfectly for transport.

“Stay at Hotel Universal Barcelona--it's worth it!”

The Hotel Universal Barcelona was really a nice hotel and provided a good night´s sleep! We were there almost a week. It had good water pressure, great air conditioning, and a staff that left you alone unless you needed something. There was a little street noise but not terrible and the location was wonderful(on Paral.lel). The only drawback was minor--that was the room service. The orders were generally not correct. We ordered coffee one morning and got the most gigantic breakfast I have ever seen. Like I said, minor. There are tons of great coffee shops that offer pastries and bocadillos right outside the door to the hotel. And yes, I would stay here again!

I'll keep this simple and straight to the point - Fantastic hotel, location, staff - Simply fantastic !!!! I'm going back to Barcelona because it is such a beautiful place to go so will definitely book this hotel again without hesitation !!! Book this hotel - Superb !!! You will not be disappointed !!!

“Delighted”

The hotel was in a very central position and the area around was fairly open which made our room very sunny. The room was very well eguiped with lots of cupboard and hanging space. The bathroom was very well supplied with toiletries. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. The only very slight problem was that the windows only opened at the top. It would have been nice to have a fully opening window.

The previous reviews on Expedia helped make our minds up in selecting this hotel, our expectations were easily achieved. The hotel was very clean tidy marble everywhere and the staff were always helpful. Room cleaned every day loads of clean towels, the queen bed was beautiful and the room very spacious. Lots of room to hang clothes with a safe to keep your valubles secure. The rooftop terrace and pool area were very clean tidy with lots of sun all day, towels provided with clean changing area and cool shower, bar available must of the day for refreshing drinks in the warm sun.The location of the hotel is excellent, right outside is the metro which can take you any where in the city. It is on one of the main routes in to the city, with the usual road noise, ask for a room at back of hotel, which provides great views over the local rooftops and Barcelona's main attractions, at night you see the city glowing with nightlife.Will be returning very soon.

“Worth the extra costs.”

Although a bit expensive for the amenities and food, the location is great, service was great, and we felt completely at home.
