“Great hotel in Barcelona”
We stayed 3 nights here and were not disappointed. We had a large room on a corner so we had two windows overlooking the rooftops and tree-lined streets below. Our room was on the fifth floor which was nice because of the views. There was construction going on during the week which served as our alarm clock, so that was fine. Service was great, room condition excellent and nice big bathroom. We used the terrace on the roof a couple of times which we practically had all to ourselves. We didn't eat at their buffet so can't say whether the food was good or not.
“Unfriendly and impersonal hotel I have ever stayed in”
If you're looking for a well located, clean but bare bones, dark, unfriendly and impersonal hotel then this is the place. The front desk is not well equipped with anything least of all staff members. They will help you as they are paid to do that and thats it, nothing else. The french guy at the front desk was highly perturbed most of the times and quite gruff. Because he's French. Born that way.
“Excellent location, would definately go back”
Beautiful clean room, reception staff were extremely helpful, roof terrace and pool were fabulous. Good location only 10minutes walk from La Ramblas, only small gripe was breakfast was overpriced. Would definately stay in this hotel again.
“Great hotel in a great location!”
Hotel America is a beautiful hotel in an ideal location within a few short blocks walking distance to all the great restaurants and shops along the Passieg de Gracia! The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean! Other than the fact that it had two twin beds, it felt very much like a 4 star American hotel
“5 stars from us, for this four star hotel.”
Hotel America was conveniently situated in a respectable part of the city. Perfectly situated to many tourist places and metro. We walked almost everywhere as there is so much to see and it would be missed by using the transport system. The staff were excellent throughout and every need was catered for. If we returned to Barcelona, Hotel America would again be first choice for accommodation. Nice little pool and top floor sun terrace, even if it is a bit windy up there on occasions. Amazing architecture, fabulous theatres, and the shops are splendid with real quality goods, if somewhat expensive. Heard much scary talk of pickpockets, etc' on reviews, but no sign of a problem anywhere. Just take careful of your belongings and where you are and you should be alright.
“Great”
We stayed at Hotel America for one night in July. The location is very good, not right in the Ramblas but a 15 minute walk, in a really nice area. The staff were great, very helpful, spoke very good English and were always available. Our room was on the fourth floor, it was very comfy and quiet which is hard to come by in Barcelona. At least I think it was quiet when i got back from dancing at 5am, which is what everyone does over there. The swimming pool is small but very nice, the terrace is gorgeous, really nicely set up, music not too loud, great drinks, super cool. I would definitely come back to Hotel America next time I am in the beautiful city of Barcelona.
“Wonderfully located hotel in L'Eixample”
I did in the other paragraph.
“Great location”
Positive - location is one block (1minute) from metro and just one tube stop from La Rambla abd main shops. We also travelled to the Nou Camp which was about 15 mins on the tube. The neighbourhood is quiet. The hotel is modern, clean and quiet. The roof top pool is very nice with views of the Olympic Village and Guadi Cathedral. Breakfast was also pretty good. Our only comnplaint was the beds which moved around on the wooden floor and were not too comfortable. Otherwise I would recommend this hotel.
“Feels like a Pension”
This hotel is for people who do not mind about not sleeping at night. For me this factor is very important so I did't like it at all. Unfriendly staff.
“Luxurious boutique hotel - very good value”
This is a lovely boutique hotel in a great location, north of Las Rambla. The room was really clean with a lovely marble bathroom and very comfortable bed. We loved the rooftop pool and terrace, which was a real treat in the heat of Barcelona city centre in July. The staff were really helpful and the only minor complaint is that we struggled to find anyone to order drinks from on the roof terrace during 'siesta' time in the afternoon. Overall we really enjoyed staying at this hotel and felt is was really luxurious for the price! Highly recommended.
