“Good quality hotel”

Good hotel situated approximately 30minutes walk from La Ramba. Breakfast fairly good variety but bit pricey.Good coffee though Bus stop and metro station near by. Five minute walk to good beach.

“Would recommend, however.........”

Clean, modern and brand new hotel about 5 minutes from the nearest Metro stop, or if you are feeling energetic a 45 minutes walk to central Barcelona. There are a few decent restaurants nearby, a few mini 'supermarkets' and 5 minutes from the beach. The surrounding area is a mixture of newer developments and run down buildings, but nothing to worry about with regard to safety. A few niggles: some of the bulbs in our room weren't working;no kettle to make coffee/tea; no fridge in the room; the vending machines in the lobbies didn't chill the drinks so had to make do with warm bottled water etc. Overall, we would recommend it if you didn't fancy being in the hustle and bustle of it all and wanted a clean modern hotel.

“Nice hotel - shame about the bar service.”

The hotel would have scored a much higher rating from me, had I not attempted to have a meal in the bar with my friend. The waiter was hopeless - worse than Manuel in Fawlty Towers! His command of English was very poor, and when I asked for a ginger ale (which was listed on the menu), he brought me a Sprite! When I pointed out the error, he said "Ginger ale not available!" My friend ordered a tuna club sandwich, and received one with chicken! As it had taken over half an hour for the food to arrive, and we had actually wanted to have a quick meal, we didn't send it back. And the prices were pretty high - this meal was about 23 euros for two drinks and two club sandwiches. We were just glad that we hadn't gone to the restaurant, which was even more expensive and had the same waiter "service"! The staff at reception were very helpful indeed, and I have nothing but praise for them. So - by all means stay at the hotel (which was comfortable and clean) but, whatever you do, don't eat there!

“Good choice”

Wanted a hotel near the beach area and the port. Scored well on both counts. Took train from the airport, changed at saints and straight to franca station. At just over 3 euros each, one way, cheap and easy. Decided to walk to the hotel through the park near the zoo. Not the best idea! good way to see the area but really too far to walk with rucksack etc. Idelly take a taxi should be about 7 to 8 euros. Check in was quick and efficient. Rooms modern and had all amenities you would expect. Buffet breakfast was extra but meant didnt need lunch. Hotel staff were great at their jobs eg ordering taxis, restocking the breakfast bar etc. Would use again if staying in that part of town.

“Great Barcelona Hotel”

This was a fun, trendy hotel that was only a 5 minute walk from the beach. The cost of a cab to or from the airport is 35 Euro and only 15 Euro from the ferry docks. It was clean and the room was very safe for our belongings. They offered a good breakfast and it was very close to bus 92 (Gaudi Cathedral) and 14 (old town/Picasso museum). The front desk was very helpful and the next time we go to Barcelona, we will be going back to the Gbb Hotel 4 Barcelona.

Area recommendations

Take the 92 bus to go see the Gaudi Cathedral. It drops you off at an old hospital and the walk down the Avenue Gaudi is great. It is full of shops, cafes, etc. Be sure to also take the 14 bus to the old town area. The Picasso Museum is there and the area is older with more narrow streets but there is a great vibe with more shops and restaurants. Last but not least, go to the beach.

“Quiet location but good for beach.”

First time I stayed in this hotel, I usually stay in the Silken when in Barcelona. It is a very new hotel, room was slightly on the small side but very clean which is more important. Location is a bit away from the city centre but Llacuna metro station was 2 minutes walk from the hotel and Metro is very cheap and convenient to whisk you to anywhere in the city. This hotel however is perfectly situated for the beach and the restaurants at the Port Olimpic.

Area recommendations

Gothic Quarter is good for a morning or afternoon stroll through fantastic architecture whilst making many stop-offs at the great tapas bars in the area.

“Staff consistently went above and beyond to help! Perfect location for everything!”

The staff was amazing! We were constanly impressed, the hotel was in a perfect location for the beach and for touring! Definitely recommend this hotel!

“Very welcoming”

This hotel was very nice with extremely helpful and friendly desk people. Not the most convenient to the airport or tourist sites but the metro/tourist buses make getting around pretty easy.

Area recommendations

Because taxis eat up a lot of euros it would be smart to get a hotel closer to the airport, or cruise port of tourist sites, depending on your agenda.

“Out of the way location”

Hotel was clean, good service. The issue is that it is off the main path for tourist type of activity. More of an industrail area. Not a great view either. Nothing negative about the hotel is the location that wasnt great for personal travel

“Good hotel, good value, couple of drawbacks”

The hotel was clean and comfortable, the restaurant was pretty good for breakfast (didn't try and have any other meals there), room service was OK and there's a fitness centre in the basement. The only minor things are: 1) it's quite a way to the centre of town... but it's a 3 minute walk to an underground station which was a brilliant and really cheap service - typically 2-3 minute wait for a train, 10-15 minutes on the train and only E1.50. 2) there's very little shelf space in the room which is a pain if you've got a load of stuff that needs shelves / drawers (undies, socks, t-shirts, etc.). The location itself is pretty scuzzy but didn't feel unsafe... there's only one restaurant that we saw nearby (didn't try it). Overall - I'd recommend it if you don't want to be bang in the middle of the action all the time.
