“No Heat, No Sleep”

Great tourist location. Walls are very thin. I could even hear the person next door zipping their luggage. The television was not working. They replaced it right away. When ready for bed, i discovered the thermostat was broken, so not heat. I reported it to front desk. They sent someone up pronto. he looked at the thermostat and said it was broken. His reposne was that he would be right back. When he returned, I opened the door. He handed me a blanket, said good night and then walked away. I was appauled that they didnt even offer me a different room with the some. i will never stay at this hotel again. I usually read reviews and conclude that bad experiences happen and are rare, but i should have heeded the warnings of the reviews I read about Grupotel.

“Definitely recommended”

The hotel and the room was very clean, although the room was slightly dated. The hotel is ideally situated near to the bus and metro stops-both easy to use methods of travel. It is also a short walking distance to the main shopping centre where everything is happening. Although the room looked out onto a busy road there was a nice view with minimal noise.

“5 Star Quality & Service for a 3 Star Price.”

Excellant 3 Star Hotel within easy access to Ramblas and Place Catalunya. Very friendly and helpfull reception, rooms very clean and comfortable, although beds hard, buffet breakfast excellant with very good choice. Very good value for money. Take the airbus from Barcelona Airport to Place Catalunya (€5) and less than 10min easy walk to hotel. We found area to be safe. Stayed for 2 nights but wish we had more time to explore all sites - Gaudi buildings are a must!!

“Marvelous break”

Marvelous break in Barcelona. What a great city, elegant, lively and really good bars and restaurants. The hotel was lovely, spotlessly clean, and the staff were very friendly. The bedroom was very small, but hey who cares. The breakfast was good and plentiful, and the welcome glass of cava on a very hot arrival day went down very well. A 5-minute stroll from Placa de Catalunya and the Cafe Zurich. Would stay here again.

Area recommendations
We stayed by the University and it was a great area. lots of bars and restaurants, leafy squares and friendly people.
When to go
September was beautiful. The Barcelona Bus Turistic is a fantastic way to see the City. We did the Red and Green Tour on Saturday and Blue on Sunday. The beaches, which you get to on the Green route, are absolutely fabulous. I thought there was a small strip of beach. There are are 5 of them, and the sand is beautiful. On Sunday, if you want to do the Nou Camp Stadium Tour, the last one starts at 1.30pm and finishes at 2.30. The Metro is also a great way to get around. Just be aware that some unsavoury people will be out to get your money. I was sprayed with some warm liquid from behind me, which i assumed was from a bird. A man appeared as my boyfriend was getting tissues, and offered me kitchen towel. I thanked him and as we were concentrating on the mess, he had his hand in my bag. Fortunately, I spotted him and gave him a slap. H e ran off emptyhanded . Be alert but don't be put off.

“Perfect Balance of Being Close to it all and a Quiet Escape from La Rambla”

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is classy, located just a minute's walk from La Rambla and nearby metro stations, yet located on a quiet street that is centrally located. The front desk staff are attentive to your needs and provide quality recommendations and assistance in navigating the city. Would certainly recommend this place. The room is nice and clean, though nothing utterly spectacular. But it is more than sufficient to meet any traveler's needs/wants comfortably. The only thing that I would recommend is that they put in softer beds. Oh, and it would be nice to have an in-room safe, which I'm pretty sure we didn't have here. Otherwise, no complaints.

Getting around
Metro Day Passes are the way to go - and use the Turistic Bus Tour not only as a tour but to make it around the city.

“Excellently located hotel”

The hotel is very nice with decent sized rooms which was fully air conditioned and comfortable for sleeping. The buffet breakfast is the best idea as plenty of choice to gain a full tummy before all the exploring. The hotel is located perfectly! Just 5 mins from La Rambla but away from the hustle and bustle on a side street. On the main road to the left only 5 mins away was an amazing tapas restaurant! Excellent food, modern restaurant and great value, definitely worth a trip

“Cool location”

We only stayed 2 nights and had a great stay. It was close to La Rambla and Catalunya. The hotel staff was well accomdating to our needs. The room was well maintained and clean. The bathroom was big enough for 2 adults to use at the same time. The only hang up was the elevator. We stayed on the 3rd floor and to take 2 small separate elevators, not to mention a small flight of stairs. Overrall, great stay!!!!!

“Impressed with most aspects of hotel”

The hotel was ideally situated, being just a 2/3 minute walk to Plaza Cataluna & Las Ramblas. Our trip was to celebrate an 18th birthday & the hotel presented us with champagne, cake & a card which was unexpected. The only negative was the hotel was quite noisy late at night but this could have been from the building next door.

Getting there
Getting a taxi from the airport was very easy and cost about 25 euro (about 15 minute journey), but the taxi from the hotel to the airport cost 43 euro! A fellow traveller advised us to load our cases into the car ourselves & not let the taxi driver do this for us, unfortunately on the return journey he was too quick for us! In hindsight I would have used the bus service from Plaza Cataluna to the airport which only costs about 2 euro.
Getting around
I would recommend buying a ticket for the tourist bus (22 euro). This takes either an east or west route & stops at all of the major attractions, well worth it.

“Would definitely go back again”

Was everything we expected although the room a little smaller but didn't cause too much inconvenience. Was right near La Ramlas but not so close we got lots of noise which was great. The hotel staff were very friendly and not only made our beds and replaced our towels but tidied our room every day. We have no complaints, everything was great.

Area recommendations
La Ramblas as there's so much to do.
Getting around
Buses are very cheap
Must see
The fountain show!

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.
