“Great hotel in a great location”

Hotel is located on a main street close to all downtown attractions. Our room was modern and quite spacious (by European standards). Staff was attentive and fluent in English, making directions and instructions easy to understand and follow. We did not eat in the dining room so cannot comment on that, but for a nice hotel in a great location we would highly recommend the Grand Hotel Central.

“Great location, very good if you do not want to spend a lot of time at the hotel.”

The location of the hotel was excellent and if you like modern, minimilist hotels this is quite good. The room was painted a modern brown which coupled with poor lighting made it quite dark. The window was in the corner of the room, looked out on to a washing line and could not be opened. In general the room was clean and fine to sleep in but you would not spend any other time in there. In general the hotel was clean, modern and the staff were very helpful. There was a fantastic roof patio with an infinity swimming pool, comfy seating and a fantastic view over the city rooftops. Unfortunately this shut at 8pm and there was no other bar available. I was told the restaurant could bring a drink to the reception area after * but every hotel needs a good bar to relax in after seeing the city for the day. The breakfast was qute good and the restaurant area nicely decorated. In summary it has a great location and if the rooms were a bit brighter and a bar area that was open beyond 8pm then I would have marked it a lot higher.

“Good hotel in excellent location....”

Great hotel, only issue really is lack of bar near the reception area (one of roof terrace by pool not great and they shut this when it rains!) and the restaurant needs to be a bit cosier. Good location, ideal for the sights. Reception staff extremely helpful. Tapas from restaurant not great and some staff in restaurant and roof terrace not as attentive as you would like.

Area recommendations

Worth wandering through the narrow streets and lanes to find places to eat/drink and avoid the tourist traps on the main thoroughfares. Particularly interesting was the Barri Gotic and Raval areas.

“Great pool and roof top bar”

I went as a birthday treat, the hotel was great enjoyed the infinity pool. Roof top bar got everyone together and made for some great evenings! Hotel staff very friendly. Hotel very central. Great Holiday would go back, and soon.

we enjoyed the marina for the restuarants.

Getting around

getting around was very easy the open top bus is great but you can walk just about every where easily enough

loved the shopping, as its a pass time of mine, I could have just done that

“Great location and great staff”

From the momemt we checked in we were very pleased with this hotel. The location is great. Walking distance to every thing one would want to see in Barcelona. The rooms are large, clean and furnished very nicely. The roof top pool and bar is a great way to end the day.

“Brilliant hotel”

“Good, but could be better.”

The most outstanding thing about this hotel is the rooftop bar and pool. Simply amazing. On the down side a hotel of this class, even in Europe, should have real queen beds and not two single beds pushed together. It was like being in a 1950's sitcom. The second complaint is the frosted glass door to the bathroom with the toilet right next to it - left little to the imagination.
