“Friendly, helpful staff. Extremely convenient. (Right next to the major rail/metro station.)”
Can't beat the location. Nice young staff people. Great view of Montjuic. check it out when you go to Barcelona.
“Not really a four star hotel.”
We stayed at the hotel for two days. We were very impressed with the staff and their eagerness to give you discounts and directions to the major attractions. On the first day we arrived at 9:30 AM from Atlanta after a 9 hour flight and they let us in the room early where we were able to get some rest and tour the City on the On and Off bus for the remainder of the day. The beds are not really comfortable, but the room is very clean. The hotel restaurant food and staff were great. They do not have free WIFI. Since there were lots of guests coming and going all night long you could hear some voices in the rooms adjacent to you which may be annoying if you are a light sleeper. Also, there is a supermarket and other shops very close to the Hotel and the prices are great. I would highly recommend this Hotel.
“Good location for train to airport in the morning.”
I picked this hotel for the location next to the train station for transport to the airport in the morning. It's a nice tourist hotel. My wife & I had a nice lunch at a restaurant accross the street with their 10 euro special after we checked in. The room was spacious and we enjoyed dinner at the 10th floor restaurant by the pool. If you need a Barcelona Hotel with easy access on public transportation to the airport, this is a good choice. Just be aware it takes awhile to buy your train ticket in the morning at the Sants station next to it.
“would not go back”
although being warned of pickpockets we were robbed on the very first day and were unaaware of it happening . although the Metro trains run promptly it is a nightmare getting to a platform (miles of walkway) - you never get a seat on the train and this was only April- as for going to a restaurant forget it they don't speak ( or are not prepared to speak) English and the menus are gobbly gook The weather however was good
“Booked it for the Marathon”
Choose the hotel for it's proximity to the main train station and the start of the Marathon. Getting there was really cheap and dead easy taking a train from the airport (every 20-30 mins I think) and only a few euros. The walk at the other end was 5 mins tops. The hotel is a 5-10 min walk to the underground and then the whole of the city is easily accessible. There was a queue at check-in but hardly surprising considering all the marathon runners had chosen it for location. The concierges were very attentive and offerd to hold our bags if we wanted to get a coffee and come back but we didn't need to the check in queue was pocessed quickly. We got a free upgrade as they were busy and the room was a decent standard (no frills) but very clean and of the standard you'd expect for 3 star. The bar / dining area was nice and informal, ideal for a post touring drink or coffee. The buffet breakfast was very varied but may have been for the benefit of the hundreds of runners. It was reasonably priced at 12 Eur but if you didn't need the convenience you could get cheaper outside. Was delighted with the hotel, no fuss, decent clean room, great staff and some nice amenities if you have time to use them.
“Good Hotel for Money, better value than others”
Good Hotel overall. Location is right by Sants train station to the Airport and metro to the rest of BCN. No free wireless! Food in Cafe on 2nd floor was good.
“Barcelona Expo very good buffet breakfast”
The Expo is a good hotel in a convinient location for local transport links. We were able to get around the city on the metro and autobus from Sants Estacion or the Tarragona Metro stop. The buffet breakfast was extremley good value and made very good eating. I don't think I have ever eaten quite so much at breakfast before. I would recommend this hotel if you plan to be out and about and want a good base for exploring Barcelona which is a wonderful city.
“Business Vs Tourist Trip”
A great hotel for a business trip but would not use again if visiting Barcelona again as a tourist. Hotel itself was Ok, friendly helpful staff and all comforts in an executive room, except for the fact the room was too warm and as it was October, the air conditioning was set to deliver warm air! Balconly window opened to allow fresh air in, but too much noise from street to keep open all night. Didn't have breakfast in the hotel so cannot comment, but bar snack menu very pricey. A bit out of the way for tourist attractions, although the Tourist Bus stop was not too far away....but be prepared to queue at this stop.
“good value for money”
Convenient for trains, metro, busses. There are a few restaurants and a supermarket next to the hotel. Lavish buffet breakfast and all expected mod-cons.
“Ideal Barcelona base”
Stayed at the Expo Hotel. 100 yds from Main Station, so ideal for getting to and from the airport. Metro and buses easy to use and quick to get to all the main attractions. Walking distance of Placa D'Espanya (trains to Montserrat), the Magic Fountain ( a must visit evening attraction) and Montjuic. Supurb Hotel Breakfasts and brunches up to 1:00 a.m. (useful when arriving late and hungry), however the former being a bit pricey if not on B&B basis. The cafe in the Hypermarket next door does cheap, good, toasted baguettes in the morning - ideal as a filling starter for the day. Excellent roof patio and sunbeds (in season - April - September ?? - and nice small, deep pool to chill out in. Rooftop terrace/bar open till 1:00 a.m., with views to Montjuic.
