"Nice hotel close to music festival we were attendi"
Overall we had a great experience although there were a few minor issues, i would like to mention
1. having to pay €12 a day for wifi in your room in this day and age is a little expensive if you ask me a hotel of its callibre should really include this for free (or at least in the room cost)
2. No tea/coffee facilities in room, ok was available via room service but after paying a tray charge this would have been over €5 for a cup of tea!
3. Mini bar prices were cheaper than the hotel bar, not a bad thing really, but you would normally expect this to be the opposite
4. Water from mini bar is generally free in many hotels in my experience, however not at this one.
5. Breakfast was great, however on day of checkout we were in a rush to get to the airport and grabbed only a bottle of water and a couple of cereal bars to keep us going....however when we tried to leave restaurant we were told we could not leave with them - after paying €12 each for breakfast (usually €24 i believe!) I think this was a bit unfair to be honest - especially when we saw others with breakfast items in the lobby (which I assume had been sneaked out of the restaurant).
We stayed here instead of in the old town centre as we wanted large luxury hotel room, its about 13 euro by taxi, there is a rank right outside the hotel. Also, the metro is just across the street if you want public transport which is great value in Barcelona. Whilst its in the business area next to the exhibition halls, the location ensures you get a quiet and good nights sleep instead of the noise from a city centre location.
There is also a large shopping mall about 400m walk away with at least 100 outlets including many well known brands; Footlocker, Zara, Nike etc and a few eateries too, mostly fast food types. Try the 15 screen multiplex cinema there too if your Spanish is up to it.
We liked the whole feel of this place, the gym is a typical hotel style, smallish and I missed not having a pool.
If you want to relax in style in a modern hotel but still have the old city options within 15min drive away, then look at this hotel. It's also only 15mins from the airport too.
This is the first time we have visited Barcelona so was great to be in location that made it easy to get into the city. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Don't think I've ever stopped in a hotel where the mini bar was free (restocked every day with a beer, still water, sparkling water, coke and lemonade). We ate in the hotel on our first night as we arrived late. Both the food and wine were excellent and very reasonably priced. Will definitely stay here again.
This was a good hotel with a very good breakfast buffet. Staff were friendly and the concierge gave good advice re bus/tram travel in the city. Our room was comfortable with most things we needed. There was a pool and gym in the hotel but we had no time to experience these. The hop on hop off bus stopped very near the hotel which was very convenient. Some restaurants close by but generally the hotel's position was a little too far out of the centre for us to return.
Great break in Barcelona at diagonal zero. Shopping mall next door with some nice eating places and plenty shops. Metro station 100 yards away and team stop in front of hotel !
Breakfast in hotel was good, with good variety. Nice complimentary glass of cava and snack on arrival!
TV has English speaking news channels, air con and mini bar.
Just had to come and see these fantastic windows for myself. This is a totally unique hotel with a vertical garden all the way up to the top floor. Our room was minimalist style, all white with a large mirrored wall separating the bathroom. Everything was spotless and it was very quiet, didn't hear anything at all from next door room. The hotel is about 15 minutes from the main part of town but this is easily reached by the Metro which is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. We found the staff to be exceptionally helpful. The best part for me was the window in the room - I have stayed in hotels around the world and was blown away by the design. Would definitely stay in this hotel again next time we come to Barcelona - we had a great time and will be back.
