“Free wifi is great.”
Everything about this hotel was great part from three points. Hotel bar was closed at 10pm Breakfast was not he best I've had in Europe If you're in a room at the front of the. Hotel the hotel then there is a lot if street noise I will retun as everything else was fab, I'll just ask for a room at the bck of the hotel next time.
“misled, but turned out OK”
We were led to believe that we were getting a room with a kitchenette, hence "aparthotel". We had zero kitchen items. We did not ask to be changed because our friends had kitchen items (stove/sink/dishes/etc) in their room so we used theirs instead of having to change rooms. The rooms were otherwise modern and clean. The beds were comfortable, but of course it is Europe so they shove two twin beds together to make a queen sized. The bathroom was nice, but the shower leaked on the floor if you didn't aim it right because Europe doesnt believe in shower curtains either.....but not a big deal. There was a great cafe nearby where we had croissants & cafe con leche every morning. It is 2 blocks from a metro stop. We took a 30 minute stroll to Park Guell. The ramblas were about a 20 minute walk too, but we used the metro to get there. You can get a 10 trip metro card for about 8.50 Euros (2011) which is a good discount and you can use it for multiple people, so that saved us some money in cabs.
“Great location on a quiet street close to everything”
This hotel is perfectly located in the Eixample neighborhood, easily within walking distance of Gracia and the Ramblas. It is just off the Diagonal where it is very quiet. There is an excellent resturant across the street named Antiqua which we found to better than nearly all the resturants in the City. The staff was helpful and friendly, all speaking English perfectly. We enjoyed their daily breakfast in the hotel. Our room (502), sadly, had not been redone as were most other rooms in the hotel. It was spartan and pretty uncomfortable, although clean. It did have a small kitchenette if one were wanting to cook for themselves. We felt the price was high for this exact room. We would stay again, just not in this room. We would ask to see the room on checkin to insure it was updated.
“Not the best”
Our room was on the first floor and the noise was ridiculous. The walls are paper thin and we could hear every sound from the rooms next door and above us. This is in addition to the noise from the street. With all of this we barely got any sleep on the first night and when we informed Reception they barely gave us the time of day to fully explain the issue. We got an abrupt response saying the hotel is full and there was nothing they could do that day - check back in 2 days time. We were finally moved to a room on a higher floor which reduced the street noise but we were still kept awake from surrounding rooms. The staff didn't seem to care.... On a positive note - there was free internet available for guests and this was very convenient.
“La Furia Roja”
I knew the area well and enjoyed staying so close to Gracia and the Fontana metro stop. However, not ideal if you're planning on spending the majority of your time at the beach. I think we lucked out on the hotel room. We called ahead to assure we had a kitchenette and an apartment style room (seperate bedroom). I'm guessing if we didn't we would have gotten a smaller loft style room. There wasn't much noise to deal with and the cleaning crew was nice. Other than the power issues we had a couple of days, we really enjoyed the hotel.
“Barcelona June 2010”
Very nice hotel in a great location. Metro was a few blocks away & convenient. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful. Free internet use in lobby. There is a grocery store about 1/2 block away that has reasonably priced foods, wine and beer. The fresh bread there is delicious and quite a bargain. The nearby Ke Bokata Cafe has wonderful cafe con leche and croissants. Also the Budy Cafe is a wonderful dinner spot with great food and friendly service.
“a very good hotel”
EXCELLENT
“nice choice if you don't care about central located hotels”
Having 2 rooms, 3 children and 4 adults group the total experience was positive. Don't miss to try a nice cozy restaurant 60 meters away of hotel's main entrance (called Antigua).- The underground station (Fontana) is less than 10 minutes away, get a 2-day ticket on Turistic bus and try to visit again Barcelona if your stay is less than 10 days!
“Barcelona Dec 2009”
Rooms vary in size and amenities. Not all have kitchenettes. Request kitchenette when making reservation if you want one. Rooms have 1-4 twin beds, two twins make a king. Specify bed request with reservation. Some double beds. The more beds, the larger the room. Beds are on wheels. Easy to move. Do NOT recommend fifth floor-not redone. Request floors 1-4. Elevator to all. Hotel food/drink items found in mini-frig/on countertop are not complimentary. Wood/tile floors. Shampoo, bar & gel soap furnished. Hairdryer in room. Need electrical converter for electric curlers. Makeup mirror in bath. Nice size closet. Safe for valuables. Request a key from desk for safe. Writing desk in room. Some neighbor / street noise. Draperies provide dark sleeping quarters. Front desk gives city map and helpful with directions. English speaking. Restaurant serves only breakfast-not Free. Easy to find hotel on side street. Exit front lobby door to the right for close grocery store. Luggage storage at front desk. Wake up calls came late. No clocks in room. Ten minute walk to metro station, 20-30 minute walk to Catalunya City Centre. No on-site pool/exercise facility. Complimentary cavat. Free internet in lobby. Blue aeroport bus to/from airport to Catalunya City Centre, then short taxi ride to hotel. Very efficient /economical. Red/blue tourist buses offer City overview. Old hotel nicely redone. Would stay again for the price. Earned 4-star rating.
“Nice hotel”
Nice hotel, friendly staff, clean room and good facilities. Plus right by a metro station down the road so very quick to city centre but not noisy. Would go back again.
