“Excellent & convenient hotel”

This hotel is great if you need to be near Barcelona Sants station, since it is right across the street. Barcelona Sants is not only a major metro station, it is also the station for most medium & long distance trains. If you plan to visit other places in Catalunya, or Spain; you will find yourself at this station. The rooms are modern, clean, beautiful, and the mini bar was free! Great location, value, and quality. Months before staying at this hotel, I stayed at another hotel in Barcelona, right in the heart of downtown, within a few paces from the Rambla & less than a two minute walk to Plaza Catalunya. Great location......but I didn't sleep at all. I actually became ill. The noise in Barcelona doesn't stop, even after 3:00 AM. The AC Sants hotel is a few minutes metro ride from all of the places you want to see, but you will sleep. It is also a short metro ride to the airport, via the R2 line--5 Euros or a 25 Euro cab fare.

Area recommendations
If you are in Barcelona, you need to visit the Fine Arts Museum, the Archaeology Museum, and the Ancient Egypt Museum. The waterfront is beautiful too. Barcelona is huge. Take the metro to Plaza Catalunya, look for the "I" sign indicating the tourist office, get a map, then look across the Plaza until you see where the tour buses are lining up. You will see the lines of people first. These are really convenient since they stop at all of the most popular sites. You will save yourself a lot of walking if you take a tour bus--hop on & hop off. Remember to get an early start because the lines get long, especially during tourist season.
When to go
Spain gets very hot during the summer time. In fact, many businesses will actually close for the month of August; yes, the entire month. This is not as common in the larger cities, such as Madrid or Barcelona, but you will find even in these big cities that some businesses will close. The best time to go is May or June, when EVERYTHING tourist related is available, but it isn't as likely to be over 90 degrees. You can wait until later, such as October or November, when much of Spain still enjoys fine weather, but you will encounter less convenient hours for museums and other popular tourist attractions. Also, if a major tourist attraction needs renovation; it will be done during the off-season.

“Good central location”

On this trip we wanted to visit attractions all around the city. We arrived and departed via the airport and with excellent train connections between the airport terminal and the main Sants station the hotel is ideally placed as a safe and convenient overnight resting place. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the station which is good when you have travel bags and heavy cases. Although the hotel is close to the station, there is no train travel noise as the lines are all underground. The hotel is an ideal base to travel across the city as Sants also gives access to the Barcelona underground system. It is a clean, contemporary and friendly hotel. Immediate surrounding area has no points of interest. There are a number of less than average restaurants and bars, but not much else. As a base to explore the city, I would use it again.

“generally very good, but does not include internet”

The hotel is extremely comfortable and conveniently located near the train station in Barcelona. But given the price, and its claim to be modern, you would think that internet in the rooms would be included in the price. It was quite expensive as an additional add-on to the price.

“Good hotel would recommend”

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend to anyone. It is out of town but it is so close to the train station that getting around is not a problem. Only thing I would say is if you have a large car the parking is very cramped in their underground car park and the slope is fairly steep so if you have a long car you may have problems getting into the garage. Extremely nice, comfortable rooms and friendly staff though.

Area recommendations
Check out the Gaudi area and the shopping streets are really lovely. I personally wish I had avoided the Las Ramblas area as it's very touristy and full of beggars but each to their own.

“Great Barcelona Hotel.”

Beautiful hotel and room. Just steps from train station. Drinks in mini bar complimentary.

Getting there
You can take train from airport to get to hotel. Train stations is just steps from hotel.
Getting around
Train station and metro just steps from hotel. Also lots of taxis and buses near train station. Recommend hop on hop off bus for easy and convenient overview of city. Ticket is good for 24 hours on City Sightseeing Tour Bus (red bus).

“Nice hotel but so so location”

This was a nice hotel and clean but the location was a little out from all the attractions. Luckily, the metro stop was only 2 blocks away....but there isn't much around the area in way of restaurants, shopping, etc. I will stay closer to city center next time.

“Good quality. Perfect location specially if you arrive or l by train.”

It is a Hotel quite new an located right in front ot Sants Railway Station with perfect access to subway or buses.

“Loved the hotel!”

My husband and I loved the hotel - it felt clean, the decor was very nice, the room was spacious, bed was comfortable and the hotel service was excellent. We forgot to bring our power converter to charge our laptop and the hotel staff was very helpful and provided it to us. The free water & soda in the room fridge was also fantastic and got refilled everyday. But there is no minibar with alcohol or tea/coffee makers in your room. You can get these in the hotel lounge which is where fellow guests go to hang out and use the free internet access anyways (since free wifi isn't available in a standard room). Also, if you are traveling with a friend, the shower is open concept so anyone in the room can see you shower/brush teeth, etc. Only the toilet has a stall to give you privacy. We didn't mind though and couldn't wait to get back to our room to relax everyday!

Area recommendations
If you want to stay near the busy touristy area - stay at La Rambla. Hotels there are pricier because of location but then you won't need to metro back and forth from your hotel to there like we did everyday.
Getting around
The hotel is located in a neighbourhood that isn't quite happening like 'La Rambla" but is close to the metro that would take you there. If you think you'll take between 7-10 trips on the metro/bus in zone 1 (where all the site seeing places are anyways), get a T10 - it costs 7.95 euros and can be shared between multiple people. Can also get you to/from the airport on the RENFE train - get off at Barcelona Sants to get to hotel. Hotel is right across from the train station, like 2 min walk (look for the McDonalds and exit there). Leaving Barcelona: If you take easyjet, be warned that its quite a walk from the RENFE train to terminal C where easyjet departs from. It was a 20min walk and you have to walk from one end to the other of the building that houses terminal A and B, then leave this building and go to another building a block away (their signs are not helpful at all - there were so many of us wandering around terminal A/B building wondering where C was!). Once you leave the building, you will see signs that direct you to terminal C.
Dining
Eat at La Rambla. We didn't particularly enjoy tapas so our favorite meal was at ATTIC. Its a restaurant on the 2nd floor along the La Rambla strip. The food/dessert was fantastic and reasonably priced compared to everywhere else in Barcelona.

“Excellent location for business”

The Hotel is a business hotel a few hundred metres from the main railway station in Barcelona, Sants. So an excellent location from the point of view of coming from the airport, getting round Barcelona and Catalunya, etc. The room was clean, comfortable and self-consciously modern, e.g., bathroom basically in the main bedroom with only the toilet in a separate room. The staff were friendly and efficient. Wifi was free in the foyer but paid for with some complex system in the rooms.
