Quiet boutique hotel. But not SLH standard.

Pros: Quiet, out of the way, nice gardens, great food.
Cons: Guest service is poor vs SLH expectations. Bar/restaurant closed 2 days/week. Turn down service spotty. Poor concierge service.
Location: Remote, residential. Nothing to do near by. Must taxi everywhere.
Under whelmed vs the reviews and the rates. It's really a restaurant first and a hotel second and it's hard to find a chef who can both operate a Michelin Star restaurant and a SLH property and under the same roof. This is a great example of that rule. We had to haul our luggage ourselves up to the front desk. That should have been a warning. Turn down service never happened one night, came after 10pm the other nights. We waited until 5pm one day and then had to call to get our room cleaned. The hotel is remote from any of the major Barcelona attractions and one must taxi everywhere, including for lunch/dinner/drinks Sunday/Monday as these hotel services are closed those days. The area is residential/commercial. The nearest major park/attraction is a 1.6 Km mostly uphill (read steep) walk thru not so good areas. Taxis are easy to find and rates not bad but still a pain to do daily and very few drivers speak English. Have addresses written down to give the driver.

Nice room shame about the staff

Not all the staff are rude, but my friend who birthday it was felt very unwelcome from the start. The rooms are nice but lack a sound system (TRY A BOSE WIRELESS), the tv had 2 english channels, the mini bar is poorly stocked, the coffee machine has limited choice (6) The restaurant food was excellent but the price would scare any normal person off, but it is worth it if you are celebrating & like multiple courses. The room service menu is unappetising, the club sandwich was presented very very well with an extra bonus point for the Quattro tier, but was not anything like the club i expect, checkout the Palm, MBS or The fullerton bay for the club & wagu sliders or even their room service menu. I would stay again but i would come with less preconceptions.Upon check-out i was not asked how my stay was etc, the bill was presented, I looked at it & said should i sign it, only to be grunted at and asked for my Ccard, easily the rudest checkout of my life after dropping 2000Er. Never even said bye or offered a taxi.

One of the most expensive hotels in Barcelona and falls far short if you expect 5 star accommodations. I won't write a long list but it is not worth the money at all.

Nice hotel, good location just outside city centre

We enjoyed our stay and the fact we were away from the 'hussle and bussle' of the city centre. Yet if we wanted to venture out into the town it was a quick 8min metro journey there. The hotel room cleaning hours were rather random as we'd be out in town all day and come back to relax in the room, only to find they'd just gotten round to our room at 4pm every day when there's only 15rooms in the entire hotel. The spa and treatments were wonderful, we treated ourselves to 5 treatments in the space of 3days, which thoroughly helped us relax. Breakfast was ok, yet they charge 34EUR even though I just had a bowl of cereal (bran flakes) and a coffee? Altogether a lovely trip, comfy beds, some peace and quiet yet near enough to central Barcelona. Oh and only a quick walk to park guell.

Not typical for me to leave a review but I'd be remiss if I didn't highlight the unparalleled elements of this hotel -fantastic design, proportions, lighting and color schemes (all with a modern aesthetic). Add the warm and genuine service- just the right mix of professionalism, formality, desire to help and educate. If this wasn't enough, they have arguably the best restaurant I have dined at (this includes the standard list to James Beard award winners, Michelin star names globally)..but this young chef is a genius! You can wander into the kitchen at will...Upon my return trip--its ABaC forever (unless they undergo a transformation).What an experience..

hidden 5-star gem

My wife and I booked a room at the ABaC for the very last night of our honeymoon, and we were thrilled with virtually every aspect of the 5-star property. Every inch of our spacious room was carefully designed -- Bang & Olufsen electronics, luxurious bedding, a complete rain shower set-up in the bathroom, etc. We were a bit concerned about the traffic noise outside, but the rooms were virtually soundproof. The two-Michelin-starred ABaC restaurant, though pricey, was easily one of the finest gastronomic meals I've ever experienced. The only downside of this hotel is the distance from virtually everything you'd want to see in Barcelona, but I would highly highly recommend ABaC for a romantic getaway outside of the craziness of the city center.

Luxurious Stay

My husband and I stayed her for our honeymoon on our last night after a Mediterranean cruise. The hotel staff was lovely and like everyone we encountered in Barcelona, friendly and warm. We arrived early straight from the ship and instead of telling us the room was not ready they upgraded our standard room to a deluxe! It was wonderful. The spa room downstairs with the pool and Jacuzzi were incredible and made a nice relaxing experience for our last night. The hotel staff gave us some wonderful recommendations for a traditional tapas restaurant since their own was closed on this day and made reservations for us. Everything you would expect from a five star hotel and more. The hotel is not located in the heart of the city, but being away from the more tourist places was what we were looking for. It is a short cab ride away from anywhere you want to visit and the neighborhood was quiet and rich with beautiful architecture. I would highly recommend the ABaC hotel for a romantic getaway.
